Has anyone found an alternate lid for this that has a straw?

No and I asked again two years ago and was told they were working on one. At least point I don’t think they are working on it. So I’ve moved on to another brand. Tok bad since I have the 64oz and the 40oz. Disappointed

How wide is the opening? Is it easy to get a bottle brush in there?

Yup! :) I clean it with the normal dish brush! It is wide enough! Makes it easy to wash, but hard to drink in the car!

Can the lid be used as a cup?

Nope.... it’s solid with a seal

Is the lid plastic or steel underneath?

Steel on the outside. Plastic on the inside.
