I had found these bowls at an after Christmas sale but there was only one available. I was so happy to find online for the exact same price as I plan to give as gifts next year but wanted to keep a set for myself. Lenox brand is one of the best and these bowls WITH LIDS will get much use over many holiday to come.

These Lenox bowls have the appearance of china, but the functionality and durability of aluminum. Except for the metal rim, the pretty, festive designs are typical Lenox and really do look as if they were painted on classic Lenox china. The sturdy plastic lids fit well. The reason I give them 3 stars instead of five is because of the sizes. The Amazon product page states that the diameter is 11 inches. However, the diameter of the largest bowl is actually around 8.5 inches, and the second bowl is even smaller. So the listing is misleading. (They can't be referring to the box as having a diameter of 11 inches since square boxes don't have a diameter, and in any case, the box's width is 9 inches). In other words, the bowls are much smaller than indicated. They are too small to use for bringing food to a potluck, and too small to use as serving bowls for most things. I guess they could be used to store leftovers in the fridge, but I don't usually bother with festive holiday ware for that. And, I would never reheat any food in an aluminum container. They come in a sturdy, attractive red box suitable for gift-giving. Other reviewers seem to be finding lots of uses for them, so as long as you are aware of the sizes, and the fact that they are aluminum, if you need holiday bowls with lids in this size for any purpose, or know someone on your gift list who does, you'll be happy with these. I would have been too, if they were the size listed.

These bowls are very attractive and will look great on the table serving food during the holidays. It's important to note, however, that they are aluminum. That is something people may not be expecting when ordering a Lenox product. Regardless, they do look beautiful and come with convenient lids for storing leftovers. The only reason this is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because I don't see anywhere on the product that it is dishwasher safe so I'll be washing these by hand. Other than that I do look forward to using these during the holidays this year and for years to come.

I've been trying to decide how to rate this set of bowls. I didn't know they were metal until I opened the package. From a distance they look so very similar to the rest of our Lenox collection but up close its easy to see the difference. On one hand I don't like the look of the metal bowls as much as our china bowls but this isn't the fault of the product, I just didn't read the description very well. On the other hand I have found that they're absolutely fantastic for taking along to potlucks. Around the holidays we have so many occasions where we're bringing a dish to pass. It's so nice to have a pretty Lenox bowl with a perfectly fitted lid to bring along without the worry of chipping or breaking one of our good pieces. They're also nice for the kids table during Christmas dinner. We have the melamine Lenox holiday plates for our younger kids to use and these metal bowls will make a good alternative to breakable bowls for the kids table. Although this item wasn't what I expected it's turned out to be a good looking item that is nice to have on hand.

These bowls are pretty, although a bit on the small side. The lids fit perfectly, so they're great for taking food to someone - if you're only serving two or maybe three people. The size is good for storing leftovers, if you want holiday Lenox bowls in your fridge. Definitely singleton or couple-sized, not family sized. The bowls are coated aluminum, so not microwave or dishwasher safe. (The labels don't say that, but I've had other similarly coated bowls and the coating breaks down after a few trips through the dishwasher.) In my mind, that makes the bowls a bit high maintenance for the casual use they seem designed for.
