Best spice to make my mexican food chili sauce taste like the sauce made in Puebla, Mexico. Only spice I will us for my mexican red sauce.

There is no equal

My Mom has been using this chili powder as long as I can remember it has a great flavor. I use it for chili but good in so many other things as well. I use it in several of my rubs great product but difficult to find in our local markets these days. It use to come in a glass bottle which I very much prefer however now it’s in plastic which I try to avoid but truly recommend this product. I’m doing a nostalgic Christmas and bought one for each of my sibling as a Mom remembrance of one of her favorite go to products.

Not available in any store in CO, this is the chili powder I grew up with and which has been my choice ever since. It's good to know I can buy it through Amazon.

The best chili powder there is! My mom made a great chili that my sister and I ate growing up into our adulthood. My mom would use nothing but Gebhardt Chili Powder. My mom is in heaven now but my sister and I still make her chili recipe. We use nothing but Gephardt Chili Powder. We are grateful that Amazon carries our chili powder. It is almost impossible to find. But just like many other items, Amazon carries what you need.

Chili made with Gebhardt's Chili Powder and according to the recipe on the bottle is the chili flavor the entire Southwest grew up eating. Upon stretching my experience to other regions and even buying canned chili (heaven forbid), I have not found anything that even comes close to that flavor. One can go to chili fests and contest all they want, but if it isn't Gebhardt's chili and that recipe, it's just garbage throw in a pot. Gebhardt's is a blend of two chili peppers commonly grown in southwest soil and have the rich flavor without the heat. Add cumin, the basic chili flavor no matter what else one puts with it, salt and very little garlic and you're getting close, but no matter how many other brands I've bought, they are not Gebhardt's or even close. My only problem with it is that "someone" has taken it off the grocery shelf and I've spend years searching the internet to find it. How ridiculous, that it is listed as in the gourmet section. It was a common as flour on my pantry shelf in the good old days. I stocked up 12 bottles because who knows when it will disappear completely. Now, I consider it the most precious flavoring in my pantry.
