What weight range does this work for?

It says 2-4 years, and my child is 2. Didn’t work well.

is this the kind with a rubber tube inside?

Yes, but not the heavy duty kind of rubber tube. It’s the kind you blow up with your mouth. When I was a kid we had one of these that you had to blow up with a bicycle pump, and it worked great. This one loses air so easily, and the flotation is pretty terrible. Do not recommend.

There are two air chambers that you have to blow up separately. You can fill one, or both, depending on how much buoyancy you need. The actual air tube is not a heavy-duty rubber inner tube like I thought it would be. It does not require an air compressor to inflate. It is similar to the very cheap, little inner tubes you can buy at any super store.

Is the tube rubber or plastic? Previous answers are mixed.

It’s a plastic tube with plastic fill valves. It is not a rubber inner tube with a Schrader valve like they were 20 years ago unfortunately. Seems less durable
