In his revision of Engineering Mechanics , R.C. Hibbeler empowersยฟreaders to succeed in the whole learning experience. Hibbeler achieves this by calling on his everyday classroom experience and his knowledge of howยฟpeopleยฟlearn inside and outside of lecture. This text is ideal for civil and mechanical engineering professionals. Note : This is a standalone book, if you want the book/access card order the ISBN below: 0133014622 / 9780133014624 Engineering Mechanics: Statics & Dynamics plus MasteringEngineering with Pearson eText -- Access Card Package Package consists of: 0132915480 / 9780132915489 Engineering Mechanics: Statics & Dynamics 0132915723 / 9780132915724 MasteringEngineering with Pearson eText -- Acess Card -- for Engineering Mechanics: Statics & Dynamics Review: Great Book - Great book. The examples do a very good job at explaining the problems. The more difficult problems aren't explained that well though, but that's the purpose in a hard problem, to make you think. It has a great range of difficulty and builds your knowledge up to the tough ones. The fundamental problems helped a lot, especially with the steps in the back. I purchased the statics and dynamics in one, and at the end of statics I could see the book wearing some, but I used it a lot. I haven't finished dynamics yet so I will see how it holds up. Review: Great Buy! - If you have a strong back and don't mind the bulk, this combination version is far cheaper than buying both individually. As with any textbook, there are a few errors in the text and problems, but they're usually apparent. The fundamental problems are worked step by step in the back of the book so you can always reference similar problems when doing homework. Dynamics might kill me, but the book was still a great buy.

See if you can get an older version
PROS: - conciseness: It doesn't spend pages trying to tell you 'F=0 - example problems: the examples actually show a variety of scenarios, and not just the ones where they practically give you 3 out of the 4 variables in an equation. - problem sets: good range of difficulty; plenty to practice with - problem answers: basically 3/4 of all the problems in the book have answers in the back (except for chapter 7. there's a whole bunch with no answers for some reason). Generally if the problem number is divisible by 4, it's not there. - fundamental problem solutions: partial solutions to all fundamental problems are in the back. Even though they're not explicitly step-by-step, they're not bad. Plus the fundamental problems aren't that hard to begin with. _____________________ CONS: -weird notation and variable names: like for work-energy, Hibbeler uses T for kinetic energy for some reason. . -The actual principles explained in this edition(you know, the actual statics and dynamics?) haven't changed since the previous edition, or the one before that... or the one before that one. Come to think of it, how much of earth's physics has been drastically altered in the past 3 years? not much, if anything at all. But for some reason publishers are still compelled to push out a new edition every 3 years. Apparently our cranes and structures are in danger of flying into the sky, so now you'll have to buy this super awesome newly improved edition only to find out that it tells you the exact same thing the 12th edition did. But you won't know that until you spent $200 and opened the packaging. _____________________ Ranting aside... is it a good book? yeah definitely. It's probably one of the best textbooks I have, and I'll keep it after I graduate and for as long as I'm in the engineering world. But is it necessary to put out a new edition every 2-3 yrs and get professors all excited and force their students to buy it? no. See if you can convince your professor to let you buy an older edition for much much cheaper, especially if s/he uses mastering engineering. **If your prof doesn't use Mastering Engineering, keep in mind though, that the end-of-section problems in older editions are in a different order, and there are some new problems in here that weren't in previous editions.** (Then again, you can still buy an older version and just ask somebody with this edition to see if he'll let you take a picture of the exercise sets in his book. Problem solved.)

This book got me through dynamics.
My professor was not good. This book was a good replacement.

Good book
The book was delivered in excellent conditions. It is clear and convenient when you have both statics and dynamics class to take. However you must plan on having a large bag to carry it

Good
Good book for statics. It's simple and to the point and the examples really help you learn the material well.

Light Presentation, Medium Demands, Heavy Book
The presentation is rather light and the book is very approachable if you have taken physics and calculus. If the reader is expecting a smooth ride without this background, then the reader is mistaken. You will learn from the problems (even if the presentation is good, the problems are where the real learning will occur): do both the easy and hard ones, and even a self-study student can make good use of the book. I never opened the access key since it is pointless; there is plenty in the book itself. The size of the book makes it suitable for two courses, but it is one of the largest books I have and it is kind of heavy. Statics at work, no?

Great book
great examples. Easily 5 stars when it comes to a school textbook. I would def. get the statics and dynamics version and save money in the long run.

Good textbook, cheaper than buying separately
This textbook is reason I passed dynamics with an exceptionally terrible prof. It is definitely pricey, but not more so than most textbooks for engineering courses. I would recommend getting both statics and dynamics together, I was able to use it for two different courses, and it is much cheaper than getting them separately. Most engineering programs have pretty static (haha) fundamental courses, so it has good resale value since you can resell to the lower years. If you are like me, it really helps to have a physical copy of the textbook to use for practice problems, and there are definitely solution manuals floating around online for popular textbooks like this one.

Great book
Very useful for my statics and dynamics courses at uni. Very expensive though and it may be worth looking at earlier editions as I'm informed that not much of the material changes from edition to edition. Compare at a library and see how they differ.

One Stop solution on Mechanics
Great Quality book. Everything in book is awesome . You feel that a teacher is sitting in near you and understand the concept to you.
