My Grandfather is Happy 👍🏻
My grandfather, 95 years old, was very happy I found this for his new lantern. Local stores don’t carry them anymore. Perfect fit, secure, easy to use. Sturdy.

5th case in 20 years. Exactly the same and awesome.
I don't understand what all the fuss and disappointment is about. I've used these cases for my Coleman lanterns for 20+ years and have never had one fall out on me. The design hasn't changed and the quality remains the same as my first one. I buy a case for each of my lanterns because they provide the perfect amount of protection while not taking up too much extra space. I think it might be tricky for some, as the ball nut needs to align with the recess in the top of the case for the cover to fully seat all the way down on the base. This needs to happen for the case to latch properly and you can't see what's going on inside while doing it so maybe that's the issue. And the case will NOT latch on it's own; there are nubs on the bottom of the bumps that protrude through the cover. Once seated properly, the sides of the cover will snap over these nubs when pushed inwards, and it will not come apart once snapped into place. Even rough handling will not pop the sides open. If this is hard to picture from my description, try doing this without the lantern in place and it will easily latch properly and securely. I think for those that had their lantern fall out did not have it latched properly. It could probably hold 30 lbs or more in there without a problem. Once the design is understood it will instill confidence. I've hiked steep trails up and down while carrying the lantern case by the handle and have never felt the need to add a safety rope or tape to hold the bottom in. The case will protect the lantern more than a cardboard box, and it is pretty much rainproof. By design, falling rainwater cannot get into the case if it is sitting upright. But it is not shockproof and provides no cushioning. So pack your lantern in your 4x4 with care and it will be fine but you can't throw it or run it over and expect protection. And you can't put your lantern in the case while it is still hot, lol. Common sense folks, the latern uses fire and your brand new case is plastic.

The Ultimate Protection for Your Coleman Lantern
I bought this for my Coleman 295A lantern, and it fit perfectly. I'm really impressed with this product. The Coleman Lantern Protective Carry Case is strong and keeps my lantern safe. It's great to have a place to store my lantern and extra mantles. It's easy to use and makes carrying my lantern much easier. I'm very happy with this purchase. This review represents my personal opinion and experience with this product. Good case, but be careful of the snap-latch. Can be used with smaller Model 242C also.
1. As other reviewers have noted, the snap-latch of the top to bottom is a little chancy. It's good to reinforce it with a strap (about 4'-6" length required) to ensure the bottom doesn't separate from the top, sending your lantern crashing to the ground while you hold the handle on the top and exercise your X-rated vocabulary. 2. That said, this is a good case, good value for the money. I ended up buying a second one for another lantern, I liked the first one so well. 3. This fits the Model 295-700T Dual Fuel very well. It's designed for that model. I have an older Model 242C, which is smaller, which it fits reasonably well with a little modification. Because the 242C is smaller, it doesn't "lock" into place with the case, and can bang around inside, potentially breaking the mantle. The simplest fix is to glue or double-stick-tape a section of closed-cell polyethylene pipe insulation inside the very top of the case, beneath the handle to provide a top cushion that engages the top of the shorter lantern. I used something like a 4"-long section of 1" thick insulation for 1" pipe (3" + overall OD), and it works well. Also, the smaller tank of the 242C fits in to the smaller-diameter "well" below the usual resting spot for larger lantern tanks, though it takes a little finessing with the lantern's wire hanging bale to get it all to fit. All that said, it works pretty well for the smaller lantern as well, and I'm glad I bought it for mine.

Fits Dual Fuel Powerhouse + funnel perfectly
This product was used with the Coleman Two-Mantle Dual Fuel Powerhouse Lantern The hard shell case color came in Black Let lantern cool, snap the fuel tank onto the base(very snug fit). Then hold the funnel in between the glass globe and the fuel tank(the skinniest part) with one finger while lowering the top part down to the base sliding the cover between your finger and the funnel. Press firmly down (might need to jiggle it a bit) and the clips that are supposed to snap don't snap automatically for me, so just give them a firm press with a finger and visually inspect to make sure it is locked over the little plastic retainer nub. Should inspect even if it snaps for you because of the obvious consequences while in transit. I have read reviews where the base sucks and falls off, so the fix is to wrap a cord or bungee under the handle and around the base in a loop. I would have to say with certainty this is not the case with this product (brand new condition.) It locks well however, I'm going to do this fix anyway in the future because I could see the product deteriorating with HEAVY, and clumsy use. Not that I intend on abusing it but someone else may... I would recommend this product just for storing alone. Well worth the money, saving countless globes and less headaches over the decades of outdoor light your Coleman can provide you. No issues so far, will update if any come to light. :)

Quality Coleman Lantern Carrying Case
This Coleman lantern carrying case is identical to the other two I have, except molded in black. My other two red cases are about 45 years old and are still holding up like new. This case is amazingly made with the same quality as my older cases. I purchased this one because of the black color in order to make it easier to know which lantern I’m reaching for. I now keep my Powerhouse® Dual Fuel model 295-700T lantern in the black case since it has a black ventilator, and my older green lanterns in the red cases. I’ve read comments in regards to people saying the lantern will fall out of the case due to the bottom dropping out. In the 45 years that I’ve owned my red cases, I’ve never had the bottom drop out. The slots at the bottom of the cases cover snap into place locking the bottom securely. You MUST push the bottom of the cover’s slots firmly under the nub protrusions on both sides of the base. It’s also necessary to place the cover over the lantern straight down so that the lanterns ventilators ball nut enters the recessed area found under the carry handle. Then press the slotted tabs over the nubs at the same time. I also keep extra tie-on mantles in the recessed area under the lantern. Unfortunately, my vintage 12/61 Coleman lantern 220E is about an inch too tall to fit in these lantern cases.

Works great for my 220 Double Mantle, 200A Single Mantle Red lamp needed a bit of modification.
I bought 2 of these cases, 1 for my Double Mantle 220 and 1 for my 200A Red Single Mantle. I knew it would not fit my Model 200A Red Lantern. I was able to make it fit (securely) by adding a 1 inch thick Styrofoam disc at the bottom and extending the Cap nut higher using a 1/4-20 extension bolt and a 1\4 -20 x 1-1/4" hex head bolt. Now it fits securely and doesn't bounce around inside the case. I also added a strap as others have done to secure the top and bottom portions because I just don't trust those plastic (suicide tabs) at the bottom. The 220 Double Mantle fit great with no issues and yes, a strap on that one too.

Not all Coleman lanterns will fit in it.
I based my rating on the construction of the case, however I had to return it because my lantern wouldn’t fit in it.

Great lantern protection.
Fits really well with dual fuel Coleman North Star lantern. Some reviewers say make certain to clip top to base firmly all the time. You may otherwise attempt to pick up the case and inadvertently have it drop out the bottom causing damage to it.

Eccellente
