Genius GEN5X1: 1-Bank, 5A Onboard Battery Charger - 5A Per Bank, 12V Waterproof Marine Charger with Overcharge Protection & Temperature Compensation – for Lead-Acid & Lithium Batteries

Bought this for an onboard maintainer in a diesel pickup. Mounted it on the ledge above the brake fluid reservoir with 3 M heavy duty outdoor velcro. Close to the battery and rock solid. This velcro has adhesive that rivals super glue. Be sure you have it where you want it the first time. ( ask me how I know). Ran the wiring in semi rigid loom and connected the ring terminals to the battery bar. Plenty of wire included ( 6 feet each for power and battery wires) . Connected the power cord to a waterproof external receptacle mounted under the vehicle's bumper. Works great, fully automatic. Returns to your last setting for battery type. No need to open the hood and select battery type each time you plug it in. For the quality, it's a bargain. Short trips or long periods of storage in a diesel are hard on batteries and they're expensive. This maintainer is cheap insurance. I plug it in about once a week and it takes about 2 hours to top off the batteries. It balances the parallel batteries perfectly, both at 12.7 volts when finished.

I was skeptical at first because there are so many battery chargers/maintainers out there, but after using NOCO Genius chargers for a while, I’m genuinely impressed. I now own FOUR of them. I started with the NOCO Genius 1 for my Kawasaki SxS. It worked so well that I bought a second Genius 1 for my mom’s vehicle. Since then, I’ve added a Genius 2 for my own vehicle and a Gen5 X1 waterproof onboard charger for our boat. Everything about these chargers feels premium. The packaging is excellent, the cables are thick and durable, the LED indicators are bright and easy to see even across the garage during the day, and even the small details stand out — like the rubber feet on the bottom so the unit doesn’t scratch your toolbox or workbench. The Genius Cable Extension accessory has been AMAZING. No more struggling with clamps or leaving vehicle hoods open. Once the extension is attached to the battery posts, you simply plug the charger into the quick connect and you’re done. Super clean setup and extremely convenient. One of my favorite features is the memory setting. Once you select the battery type/mode, the charger remembers it even after being unplugged for a while. That’s incredibly useful after a power outage or if you move the charger around. I also really appreciate the thermal protection and smart charging features. During a 100+ degree day in my garage, I actually watched the charger reduce/pause charging to protect the battery from heat. Heat destroys batteries, so seeing the charger actively monitor conditions gave me a lot of confidence. I tested the maintainer function as well. Once the battery reached full charge, the indicator stayed green. Then I opened the doors and turned on the parking lights to create a battery draw. Within minutes, the NOCO detected the voltage drop and automatically started charging again. That’s exactly what you want from a smart maintainer. My personal thoughts on the models: Genius 1: Perfect for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, SxS, or vehicles that sit for long periods. Genius 2: Faster charging and better/more detailed status indicators. Gen5 X1: Excellent for marine applications since it’s waterproof and designed as a permanent onboard charger. Yes, these cost more than some cheaper chargers, but in my opinion, you absolutely get what you pay for. They don’t overcharge batteries, they intelligently monitor and maintain them, and the overall build quality is excellent. After owning four of them, my only regret is not buying them sooner.

Incredible charger, well worth the money. I've used it on AGMs and acid batteries and works great. I had 2 AGM batteries that had zero voltage and the charger is able to push a charge to the batteries long enough to trigger the charger to get them back to full capacity. Quality is great, it's compatible with every automotive battery on the market and helped bring back numerous batteries instead of me having to go buy new ones. Well worth it.

The interface is stupid simple... it does all the work without really telling you what it is doing. I wish it was able to show some error codes and/or battery stats, but the 4 colored lights indicate pretty much everything you need to know I suppose (given a relatively healthy battery). Nice little compact unit for sure.

The trickle charger on my home generator was periodically letting the battery run down. It was flimsey with short and small gage wires so it did little to inspire confidence. I live in Florida, so having enough juice to start the generator is essential. I found this NOCO Genius GEN5X1 through AI. I asked Google Gemini to find me a bullet proof charger with overbuilt specs and resistance to bad weather. When I opened the box, I breathed a sigh of relieft. This baby is built like a tank and worthy of a critical application like mine. Installation was easy and my battery is now ready to go. Highly recommended.

NOCO products seem to be pretty good products, but how am I supposed to hook this charger to a car battery without either alligator clips, which it doesn't come with, or the correct connections to accommodate the larger terminal posts? I'm kind of disappointed. I guess I will need to make my own connections for my car battery.

This thing works fantastic. Keep my battery charged to the fullest at all times and monitors it just like it’s supposed to wonderful product.

I installed this on our class a diesel pusher. This is hardwired to the chassis batteries, two lead acid group 31’s. This multi stage charger is perfect. Floats both chassis batteries at 13.58 vdc with minimal power draw. Robust and waterproof with temperature compensation. Also works on AGM and Li batteries. I mounted it in the outside battery bay compartment as a permanent installation. Should save on electricity use, as our old Heart Freedom Combi inverter used roughly 3a 24/7 charging the house and chassis batteries. I converted the house to a 310 ah Li mini with its own Li profile charger, so the inverter charge circuit is now happily turned off. No more constant inverter hum… Don’t be tempted by inferior cheaper battery maintainers, trust me I tried and sent back two other brands because they didn’t work as advertised. Like not even close. This NoCo charger works exactly as advertised, however NoCo does not specify what their charge voltage profiles are. I also have a ten year old NoCo Genius 750ma battery maintainer for my motorcycles and atvs. Still going strong and the batteries last years longer with proper storage charging. Let’s face it, batteries have become very expensive. These chargers literally pay for themselves in short order. NoCo is the brand you want to purchase for the longest battery life because their charge profiles are optimal.

They don't fit Australian plugs without a adapter great unit but the plugs let them down you should not have to rewire for our plugs the company is very shot sighted on this matter

Is a solid product and it’s waterproof.

Amazing build quality as always for Noco. Pretty heavy and rigid brick . On my test stand was an AGM battery brand new 70AH 710 CCA 120RC. Charger outputs 4.7 - 4.8 Amp max. Battery was as low as 10.8 V, supplied max current quickly, took about 12 hours to charge full. Gets pretty worm mostly on the back side.

I have this installed in my slide in truck camper. It is maintaining and charging its battery when connected to shore power. SO far I have to say, I like this unit. I had an older NOCO that was great, and still is... but it is rated much lower (2.5 AMP as I recall) and did not do Lithium. I decided to up my game and use this in its place and keep the older unit as a spare. The Gen5X1 is a great unit. Its small size and higher AMP rating along with its smart settings and maintainer capabilities make it a real winner in my books. It works great, it easy to use and is very solid. All NOCO devices have excellent connectors and cables as well as a decent quality feel and function. So far after about 1 year-ish I am impressed. RV, Camper, Marine, you name it... this is a handy little unit with some power and versatility.

I got this to replace my old battery charger which cannot charge Lithium battery. This one works wonderfully! 30 mins is enough to fully charge my Lithium motorcycle battery. A super fast charger that is able to charge all kind of 12V battery, all you need is just push a button to change the mode. This is my 2nd Noco product after my jumpstarter and I can say Noco never disappoint.
