I always have a crew cut and have fine thin hair, so how often do i use t\sal for dry \ bumpy scalp and do i need a conditioner once in a while?

Im a 47 year old guy with semi-short hair and have had problems with pimples on my scalp and dry scalp.  I used this shampoo twice a day for the first week, then every evening before bed for the last 3 weeks and have noticed a big improvement.  80% reduction in those problems.  I also use Head N Shoulders in the mornings the last few weeks, figuring both products would help best to get control of the problems, and they have.  I also bought a little scalp messager pad (on amazon Scalpmaster Shampoo Brush) that I use to scrub my scalp when shampooing, to really activate my scalp.  I shampoo first, then come back and rinse when finishing shower so it has a few minutes to soak on scalp. I think the Scalpmaster brush helps a lot too.

Question 2

How does it smell? I need something that will go over well with a four year old.

Honestly there isn't much of a smell. I prefer to have a smell when it comes to my shampoos because I am that kind of guy. However I was really worried this stuff was going to stink. I am 34 and get acne on the head. It has helped a huge amount. My dermatologist told me to stay away from the prescripts and try this route. There are always breakouts here and there but it does help. Minus one problem with a 4 year old. It doeed need to stay on the scalp for 3-5 minutes. If yours is like mine, they want to play and splash and well you know. I hope this helps!

Whay is the percentage of salicyclic acid in it?

Not only does this shampoo lather well and clean well, but the Salicylic Acid is the key ingredient. The Salicylic Acid dissolves flaking skin and reduces the inflammatory response in the skin. While this would greatly reduce dandruff, it ALSO (at least for me) can get rid of Psoriasis of the scalp. I developed bad Psoriasis on my scalp and had to use Betamethasone Ointment to keep it under control (some of the formulations were very expensive). Coal Tar shampoos, Zinc, etc., did not seem to help at all. However, once I tried this shampoo, my psoriasis cleared up fairly quickly (sooo much better than even the medicinal ointments - which I no longer have to use). I researched the reasons why this works, and psoriasis occurs because of overactive immune response. Not only does the Salicylic Acid dissolve the solids, but the anti-inflammatory from the Salicylic Acid must also inhibit the overactive immune response (or at least curb some of the damage from the inflammation). Psoriasis is over-active growth of skin cells (when the immune system attacks the skin cells when it is not supposed to). This is one of those cures for Psoriasis that doctors and drug manufacturers cannot make a profit from, so it has been abandoned (to our detriment). This product has been a life-saver for me. As long as I use it, no dandruff - and no psoriasis. I even take it on long trips, or my psoriasis will start to re-appear by the end of the trip. This is the best shampoo I have ever used. It saves me money on medicine, too. While anyone knows that different people have different results from the same products, if you have either dandruff or psoriasis, my personal belief is that this will greatly reduce either one (if not eliminate it). As a shampoo this shampoo lathers real well - and so doesn't require much (i.e. it is cost-effective). I wish I had found this shampoo years earlier. - Steve

It has no seal on or under the cap, nor does the box have a safety seal.  Why is this?  I hope it is the actual shampoo.
