Vivitar HD Action Camera, DVR783HD-Silver

We frequently travel to Hawaii and bought one of these during one of our trips about 7 years ago from a chain dept store for about $40. It was awesome for snorkeling Hanauma Bay! Perfect pics, prefect vids, and the internal battery held up very well.I decided just before our most recent trip to Hawaii about a month ago to find another one so that my wife and I could both take snorkeling photos at the same time without having to hand the camera back and forth.I found this one here. The issue was that when we got to Hawaii and actually tried to use it, the internal battery would die quickly and since we have another one, we knew that was not typical for this device. We returned it and Amazon handled the issue perfectly. However, if you buy one, immediately charge it up and try it out! Note that the internal battery, which is non-replaceable should hold a charge for several hours even under heavy use. This one that we returned started out with the battery indicator at 3 bars after charging it, but would drop to 1 bar within 15 minutes and then it would shut itself off with 20 minutes. That should not happen. Expect the battery to last for 3 to 4 hours of continuous use in photo mode and maybe an hour of continuous use in video mode. And definitely NOT 15 minutes in photo mode.

So far good results. Haven't tried it under water yet, maybe today.

Horrible camera worked great for a few day but if you drop it in a water proof case the latch busts and if you drop the camera the screen busts

clasp on casing snapped. replaced camera and the same thing happened again. Camera still works, but now it is no longer waterproof and cannot be used with mounts. no longer a "sport" camera. Waste of money. I will buy a gopro.

This camera works great under water to take a quick picture. My daughter is taking up photograph as a hobby so I got this for her and I am glad I did. It can be used for any activity no matter how wet or crazy you want the picture. Plus it takes pictures and videos. All the pictures tuned out clear.

I have to say that it's a really good camera. I used it last week for the first time when I was on vacation at the beach and I think it's really very useful to take high resolution photos!I have not yet tried to record videos but I think the will be of the same excellent picture quality!The battery lasts a lot and it's really easy to understand how it works!I use it even when I get pictures for work and I'm really happy with the result!
