Update: 3-4 weeks after install, its 17F outside and my truck has no heat. The unit lights up, the temperatures show they're adjusting, but no heat or air is coming out any of the vents. Also the rear defroster couldn't be controlled with this unit anymore. I checked fuses, restarted the truck a few times, all fuses were good. I reinstalled the original OEM I'd swapped out and BOOM heat works just fine! The original reason I switched the unit was because my backlights stopped working, but the controls always worked just fine. Needless to say, I'll take no backlights and heat in the truck any day over a unit that looks good but doesn't work. Note: I canceled the insurance policy too as I won't be requesting a replacement if this is the quality I get out of the box. Works perfectly so far for my 2003 Chevy Avalanche. Pop the bezel off the dash, 2 screws and a few clips and 2 plugs. Literally 5 mins to install! I did order the warranty as another reviewer suggested as electronics rarely fail immediately but I paid $19 for a 4 year warranty just in case. The only thing is the lights are WAAAAY brighter than the stock unit, though only 50% of the lights worked on the unit I swapped out, hence the swap. So far, I’m impressed and I’d recommend it—also, can’t beat the price as I got the unit for $119!

I did not realize how bad my old unit looked until I got this new one. What a difference! The OEM unit had lost all of its lighting and I purchased an LED kit to replace them myself. However, after replacing the bulbs along the bottom none of them would light. Double checked my work, added power manually to each bulb, to the string of bulbs, and no matter what I did the LEDs would not light when plugged into the car even though they worked fine during manual testing. So after a couple of hours of frustration soldering and resoldering and testing, I threw in the towel and purchased this Dorman unit. It immediately came to life and appears to work exactly as they old one did, except it looks brand new and now lights up! I did notice the buttons are a bit stiffer than the OEM, but the OEM was 16 years old with over 260,000 miles under it, so maybe they just got "softer" over time? Well worth the money.

Got it in a nice packaged box fit as it should seems legit buttons all work good and feel nice has white back light which is nice and clean works as it should no issues the screen is a little odd to me had faint red lines in the background I’ve seen some comments and pics about it mine is not bad at all just a little noticeable as long as it stays that way and works good I’m cool with it for the price beats double the price for a new one but it works fine if anything changes I’ll update the review so far tho I’m happy with it I’m sure a lot of comments are like anything just a bad batch here and there unfortunately I recommend it

Usually dorman is a good product but I should've accepted the reviews. Product configured correctly and seemed to work right at first but then it didn't. Didn't come close to operating like the original, which only problem was the temp numbers jumping around when trying to change the temp. So I put the old one back in. From the time I turned on the key it would blow full blast until I manually had to cut it down. The dual zone wouldn't work right. Would have them both set to 70 and then start turning the temp up on the driver side, all it would do is cut the air flow down on the driver side but still blow cold. Only way to get any heat was to cut both sides up. When keeping the settings at my normal 70 for both sides it still tried to freeze me out. Only up side was the panel was new and bright. The down side to that is that it was too bright. It didn't match any of the other instruments and when you adjusted the dimmer it only made it harder to see the others.

Easy trouble-free installation. The plug and play boot up was quick and without error. The unit worked flawlessly for 3-weeks then quit functioning in the AC mode both manual and auto. One of the left/right arrows on the display went out also. this failure occurred after the vehicle sat in the hot sun for about 2 1/2 hours after having functioned ok earlier in the day during 2 or 3 short trips. I did have my windshield reflector in place. My sense was that perhaps it was a heat related failure on one or some of the electronic components on the circuit board. Amazon was super quick to issue a refund. The ratings were obviously related to when the unit was operating correctly. I did not engage Dorman Tech Support

I was never able to see the digital read out . For temp display junk.

Purchased this to replace the unit in my 2007 classic Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. Unit fit perfect, was easy to install and for the most part functioned well. However, once the temps started to climb here in AZ and I started using the A/C more I noticed the driver vents were blowing significantly warmer than the passenger vents. Called Dorman Tech support and they verified there is a software issue. I reinstalled my OEM unit and everything is working normal again. Only reason I wanted to replaced the OEM unit was because all my LEDS are failing and I cant see the screen anymore..oh well. Hopefully Dorman gets their issues figured out.

Part fit perfectly, just wasn’t the problem.

When it works, it holds temperature better than the OEM unit. The fan constantly changes in response to temperature and sunlight changes. The recirculate function does a great boost and I was pleased. Then… Nighttime: the backlight for the buttons is blinding and doesn’t dim well. The temperature display is exactly like the factory version so is simply overpowered by the brilliantly lit buttons. It doesn’t work exactly as the original: On the original, pressing Auto shows you the airflow and fans current settings. This does not. 1st one: It then only worked for 2 days before needing the power removed and a full reset. Another two days, same thing again. Dorman tech support very responsive, he knew exactly what it was and advised it was a defective unit and to return it. Yes, these things fail so often that tech support know the problem 2nd one: drained car battery overnight, flickering display sometimes 3rd one: drained car battery overnight, returned for refund Don’t buy this thing! It’s not worth it.

This module arrived earlier than estimated, and was a hassle free fit and installation. High quality, and the pre-programming worked exactly as advertised. Pricing was very good as well.
