THORNE 5-MTHF 5 mg, Active Methylfolate Vitamin B9 Supplement, 60 Capsules

I don't think it's a 5 star for me...but when rating it..one star means "I hate it", 2 I like it, 3 it's ok, you catch my drift...:) I know what I have read anyhow about MTHFR gene and that my good ol' lab states I'm one of the fortunate ones with this "Mutant" gene"..lovely word "Mutant." So, I am taking it because of the MTHFR gene issue...hoping like heck it would help with depression. However I have been on..SSRI's, SNRI's, MAOI'S anti psycotics, name the drug for depression, or augmenting with another, I've been on it. I received samples of "Deplin" which many of you already know about "Deplin but at least with my samples that I was given it was 15 mg L-methlfolate. When samples ran out..I ordered "Thorne" because (and another reason I refused to rate it low) it has historically been a very great company in my opinion. It could be me, it could be the fact I'm on so much other stuff that it's not doing what I'd love to experience like many that have said about it and/or deplin that it "helped significantly with depression"..and a biggie I hoped for I heard it helped with "motivation and energy" not I. I'm not giving up on it, not yet anyway. and I hope to submit a less pessimistic post soon. Though I've given it over three months...and to reiterate, I'm on so much stuff, that the "stuff" may be keeping 5 MTHF (3 per day) from doing the miraculous, as it has for others...I'm very happy for the "others" just on a huge "pity party" for me..because again, again and again...I hope.."this may be the one that helps me get ANYTHING accomplished.." be it crappy things or things I WANT, NEED to do...ANYTHING! So, I attempted a post in that, perhaps I can honestly say (though I have been most lengthy about it) I am not experiencing awesomeness, but perhaps a future post will say "hey, it's wonderful, hang in there any and everybody!" I hope so!

If you are thinking about getting pregnant, you really do need this. 🤰🏻 This is the activated form of folic acid that your body can absorb. So many people take folic acid thinking they are doing the right thing but unfortunately u might be one of those people who can’t absorb it as it’s not readily available for your body. It’s much better to take this activated form instead. Much less work for your body and you can be sure that it’s absorbable. This leaves no poor after taste and is easy to swallow as it’s not a huge capsule at all. I think it worth the money cause it is made by a good brand and is free from additives. Overall, I’ll buy this again even though that’s it’s expensive

Both me and my husband have the gene mutation relating to methylfolate, I have the lesser of the two and my husband has the more aggressive gene. I'm just going to give my own experience, but I can tell you in brief that this has helped my husband as well. (I started off with 1mg from the same brand, went all the way to 10mg (different brand), and am now settled at 5mg because it works just as well for me as the 10mg.) This product has helped me so much. I was already in a pretty good part of my life when taking this, but part of me wishes that maybe my life would had been different if I had this during my highschool years when I was going through depression and other mental issues (especially memory related). I've since recovered from so much through changing my diet and lifestyle alone, but now that I'm at a great place in my life this supplement actually takes it to the next level. I initially began taking these as a precaution and for general health promotion, and while taking the 10mg, one day I realized I felt pretty tired, unmotivated, and groggy. I realized that I hadn't taken my 5-MTHF that day, and have had the same experience repeated if I forget to take the 5mg dose as well. It's pretty incredible, and very noticeable when you are very busy and depend on a varied, high quality source of nutrients every day to keep you going. This is a great supplement to my nutrient-rich diet and I am confident that when it is time to begin child bearing, I will be even more thankful that this product exists.

My fertility specialist recommended I take this medicine as part of my infertility treatment. It is made with methylated folate which is a type of folic acid from what I understand. I was told I should take this specific brand by my doctor because it seems to increase the odds of a healthy pregnancy, especially for women who have MTHFR gene mutation. Although I was tested and found not to have this gene mutation there are ongoing studies that seem to indicate that taking this particular medicine (and brand) has increased healthy pregnancies for women who do not have the MTHFR gene, probably because it has that specialize folate that most prenatal vitamins seem to lack.
