Great buy for the cost.
Leaving 4 stars because I haven't had a chance to use these on a baby yet [our daughter is due to arrive any day now], but tested them and they absorbed a lot of liquid before leaking. They DO need to be washed several times before use to improve absorbency. Basically I soaked these for 48 hours in tide and water [they do run color so I switched the water out for fresh hot water abd soap every 8-12 hours] then I ran them through the washer 4 times, three of those times I used soap the last I just wanted to make sure ANY RESIDUE was gone. They aren't leaking dye anymore when they get wet and their absorbency quadrupled. Do no use fabric softener with these! I washed inserts in hot water, I prefer to air dry but medium heat no dryer sheets works great too. If these hold up well I will make sure I update my rating to reflect that. Just be sure to do a diaper strip method on them before you wash them the first few times and you won't have any issues. Tide is my goto for my diapers it came highly recommended by a friend because it's gentle enough for cloth diapers but strong enough to strip any residue put of your fabrics: ] Edit: two months of cloth diapering later and we just started using these for overnights. We breast feed so sometimes the two of us will sleep nurse through the night instead of waking fully. These inserts are great for overnight and super absorbent. They can usually make it from the midnight diaper change to 8am. :] they dont smell, i havent had to strip them again yet, but we also do a cycle with soap and a cycle without soap. We are about to order another 12 pack as our daughter is starting to outgrow our 3 layer microfiber inserts!

A must have for cloth diapering
We just started with cloth diapering and these are amazing! They do not stain easily and are nice and absorbent. We haven't had any leaks, and his skin is so much clearer than when we used disposable diapers. We have been using pocket diapers with a microfiber insert and this charcoal bamboo insert layed on top. We ended up buying a second pack and use one in each diaper. They wash easily. We run 2 cycles with all cloth diapering supplies and have no issues with retained smells!

Love, love, love.
Update: using them for 6 months and I still LOVE THEM. They’re so absorbent. I just ordered 2 more sets so I can use these are my liners in all my diapers. And use the microfiber ones that come with the diapers as cleaning cloths. I LOVE THESE!!!! My cloth diaper friends told me that microfiber eventually sucks, so I decided to look for bamboo and charcoal as she said they’re the best. These are phenomenal. Even when super full (like overnight) there’s no leakage. I do use two liners overnight, so that we don’t need to do a diaper change. 😇. When washed, they’re dry basically immediately and I haven’t noticed any smell lingering. Although, to be fair I haven’t noticed any lingering smell on any of the diapers or inserts. I do wash with vinegar and use just the tiniest bit of detergent, since I really don’t want to go have to go through a stripping process. I order two orders of these and will be ordering more once the microfiber ones completely fail me.

Better than many others
These are much better than other one’s I’ve used. I do pair them with other ones I bought that kept leaking but they protect a lot more than when I just used 2 off the other ones. They’re not too thick but absorb well. It lasts for a few hours without leaking; they’re designed well!

Needs pre-washed numerious times before they will be absorbant.
I purchased these inserts because I had just recently purchased a lot of gently used Alva cloth diapers for a lady. The lot I purchased did come with inserts but several of them were not thick enough by themselves. I needed some additional inserts. I was originally very excited to get these liners. They were everything I thought I was looking for with the 5 layers, Charcoal and Bamboo. I really liked the fact that they were charcoal gray in color. That way stains would not be noticeable. I was told to pre-wash these inserts several times before the become absorbent. So I pre-washed them probably 4 times. I started using them in my rotation and all I had was leaks!!! I continue trying them and washing them. I wasn't really seeing any improvements so I decided to treat them as if they needed striped. I actually did all my cloth diapers at the same time because I was having trouble with regular microfiber inserts leaking also. I found a stripe procedure on Pinterest and followed it step by step. After the stripe procedure my regular microfiber inserts worked awesome, they were always full of liquid at a diaper change without leaking. As for these Alva inserts they barely feel like there is anything in them and I had 2 leak so far. I do believe they are going to be good inserts but they need washed a lot before they are going to get there. I don't know for sure how long that's going to take and its kind of a hassle. As for the quality of material, they look and feel nice. The outside edges are surged with an industrial machine that leave a nice thick edging of matching thread. Absorbs!
These diapers are very absorbent. I am now using them for my second child and they work great. Only breast fed poop cleans well if cleaned in the washer within a day. It can stain, but will wash out the next time. They may need to be stripped every 3-6 months for a lingering smell, but I don’t mind. I just leave them soak with detergent all day. No problem. I use these right on my baby’s bottom no rash.

Good!
I really like using these with an extra one inside the diaper. They absorb decently well.. they are bulky. But, easy to use and durable so far! Worth the money..

I went with the decision to purchase reusable nappy rather than use 100% disposable nappies, but after doing my research I came to conclusion I would need additional padding to absorb wees. This product is just as good if not better than some of the other boosters I have tried. And I highly recommend this & will be purchasing more for baby #2 as my only complaint was that I did not order enough the first time around. They are really soft & easy to wash. Summary: Quality: Really good. Shipping Time: As Expected. Value for Money: Absolutely! As Pictured: Yes. Would I Order Again?: Yes. I will be for baby #2

We throw out inserts and liners that come with nappies and stuff them with these Alva baby ones, because these are the best! We have been using these inserts for almost 3 years, and they are amazing. They smell less than other inserts and absorb so much more too.
