Better than Samsung!
This remote is awesome. I have a Samsung TV for the last 4 or 5 years and since day one, the Samsung remote didn't work well. You have to stand in specific places for it to connect to the tv and it's like you have to wait for the tv to do whatever before pushing the next button. I got the PS5 remote primarily to watch shows or movies on my PS5. The option to be able to use it for my tv was just a bonus. But since I've had it, about 24 hours now, the PS5 remote works better on my tv than the remote that came with it! I don't have to even point the remote in the direction of the tv and it still does what I need to do immediately. Every time I turn the tv on using the Samsung remote, it defaults to Samsung TV channels and because the remote doesn't connect well, takes some time to select source and switch to PS5. Sometimes the volume is up from the night before and the Samsung remote doesn't respond to volume or mute buttons for several seconds when you first turn it on. ( I'm sure my neighbors love that.) But with this PS remote, when I turn the tv on, it automatically takes me to PS5 screen/source and responds to the mute or volume buttons immediately. The PS remote is small but it does what more than what I need it to do. The Samsung remote is larger but I appreciate that the PS remote buttons aren't as small as the ones on my Samsung remote and they feel intuitive. The Samsung remote has never felt intuitive, even after owning it for 4 or 5 years. I love my Samsung tv but they got to do better with the remotes. We have had 2 of these Samsung tvs and both remotes respond (or don't respond) the same way. I'm surprised that my satisfaction for this remote is less about the PS5 and more about the remote in general. And I'm willing to bet it even costs less than the price of replacing the Samsung remote if I needed to. The only things I'll say that might be cons is there is a weird curve to the back of the remote, it feels strange in my hand. I'm sure I'll get used to it. It's like Apple's Magic Mouse. Feels weird in your hand, like it should be bulkier or something. And the other, I had to be careful not to break the back plate off. The little push button on the back to get to the battery compartment doesn't work well. It took a few minutes to get it off and then a few minutes to put it back on. That's really a minimal issue though because how often will I be going into the battery compartment?! If you're reading this, just be careful not to break it.

(Edited) Great Media Device!
Edit: After switching out the batteries, as I was using the ones that came with it, I have not had the issues I had ever again. I was disregarding the forum posts that talked about replacing the batteries truly not expecting it to be the reason the device wouldn’t work properly on that level, but it seemed to have been at least for my situation. I will keep my original review underneath for those who still wish to know, but have increased to 5 stars. Original: When I first got this, it worked lovely, had no issues. After about a week, it struggles to reliably connect to the system after it goes to sleep and the microphone doesn’t seem to work anymore. I’ve had it less than a month as of writing this. I would give 3 stars but, I’m taking some responsibility in that I have dropped it (only about 3ft drops) about 2 or 3 times, I know it’s possible that it could be from that, but I don’t feel that connectivity should be spotty from that, but could understand the mic. In addition to that, others on the internet have reported similar issues to mine with no solution as far back as PS5 launch. Overall, sellers are amazing, product itself seems shorty at best.

Make to have rechargeable batteries.
I don’t typically leave a lot of reviews but I felt compelled to leave one for this. I’ve had my PS5 since release date. Just until a few months ago I used it for strictly gaming. Now I use it as a media hub for all my steaming. I was tired of using my remote and having to constantly worry about it going to sleep and constantly recharging it. A lot of reviews say “stopped working in the first month” or some similar. I will say my mine stopped working after about a month. The batteries died. I can only assume this is basically just a mini controller which means it’s constantly connected to the PS. Much like the remotes, after a certain period of time, the remote goes to sleep. There have been countless times where I could hit pause and it would pause immediately. Then there are times where I have to press it twice, presumably because it went to sleep much like the PS5 remote, so the first push is to awake it and the second is to register the command. I say all this and hope I can help some put off by the negative reviews. You either need a lot of double A batteries, or have rechargeable batteries. Thankfully due to my extensive flashlight hobby, I have a bunch of rechargeable double A batteries that are always on stand by. I know that is not feasible for most, and I agree the battery life is terrible with this remote. But buying even a 4 pack of rechargeable batteries and a charger, you’d really never have to worry about having to replace the batteries once they die. All in all, this little remote is great and I’m glad I don’t have to use my remotes anymore. Just keep in mind with the reviews that say they stopped working after a month. While it’s try, it’s not a faulty remote, it’s the extreme battery use this little remote uses. I remember seeing a reviewer mention a rechargeable USB-C option. That would be awesome and why Sony hasn’t thought of that blows my mind. TL;DR - have a lot of double A batteries or get rechargeable ones and you’ll be fine.

Finally stopped using my controller like a TV remote 😂📺
This media remote makes using the PlayStation for streaming so much easier. Navigating Netflix, YouTube, and other apps feels way more natural than trying to use a gaming controller for everything. The buttons are responsive, layout is simple, and I like having quick access to popular streaming apps without digging through menus. It pairs easily with the console and just works without any hassle. It’s especially nice for movie nights or when someone just wants to watch TV without dealing with game controls. Small upgrade, but it really improves the whole PS5 entertainment setup. If you use your PlayStation for streaming even a little, this is definitely worth having.

Worst remote ever! What happened SONY?
Here’s my edit after using daily for months. I’m still super disappointed about the fact the buttons are almost the same height as the entire remote. It’s very easy to memorize what’s what and the return button is in a great place to use with your thumb. The design and how well it performs is top notch. If the buttons had been raised 1mm higher it would be the best console media remote I’ve ever bought. I have an Xbox X as well and they don’t even have a factory remote. The only ones you can buy are the super old remotes that you have to have line of sight in order to work. I’ve never liked anything about the Xbox but I always buy both consoles and every single time Sony prevails as the king of gaming consoles. I do recommend this remote because you can be in bed with the remote under the covers pointed towards the opposite wall and it just works, as expected in 2024. I was super disappointed when I first got it and told no one to waste their time. But, after seeing just how bad the options are for Xbox X, we got it good. Sony, come on, seriously this remote would have been an easy 5 stars if you could actually feel the buttons. Their raised maybe 1/4mm I don’t know because it’s barely noticeable and luckily the back button, circle and middle button are the most used and easy to get wired after a bit. I’m a die hard PS fan, so I would think that I have a pretty good perspective. After receiving my PS5 at launch. I grabbed this thing several years later when I went to watching TV through my console. This remote works BUT: its buttons are almost exactly the same height as the case. So when you’re lying in the dark watching TV in bed you are barely able to notice what button is what. With such a great button layout, it’s SUPER EASY to memorize which one is where. Except you can’t feel the buttons at all. It’s such a bummer when everything about the PS5 was epic, except this piece of garbage. I’m not sure who thought it would be a good idea to make a remote that couldn’t be used well unless you looked at it every single time you wanted to change the channel? But I’m here to say you guys blew it! Do not buy if you can find a different media remote! It works but it’s a really difficult product to use for what it’s intended for. I do not recommend this at all. DO NOT BUY ! Look for an off brand product!

It works great
I love the media remote, I've seen so many bad reviews on it but it's good and easy to use. The only thing I don't like is the back part, it's annoying.

Disappointing and Unreliable – Twice the Frustration
I had high hopes for the PlayStation Media Remote, but after purchasing not one, but two, I can confidently say this product is a huge disappointment. The first remote started having issues shortly after I bought it, and assuming I got a defective unit, I decided to give it another shot. Big mistake—the second one is just as bad, if not worse. Major Issues: Unresponsive Buttons – The remote often fails to register commands, making simple actions like pausing or fast-forwarding a nightmare. Sometimes I have to press a button multiple times before anything happens. Lag and Delays – There's a noticeable delay between pressing a button and seeing a response on the PS5. It's frustrating when trying to navigate menus or control playback. Streaming Buttons are Useless – The dedicated Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, and YouTube buttons barely work. Instead of launching apps instantly, half the time nothing happens, or worse, it opens the wrong app. TV Controls Don't Work Properly – The supposed ability to control my TV’s power and volume is unreliable at best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and I often end up using my regular TV remote anyway. Build Quality Feels Cheap – For an official PlayStation accessory, this remote feels flimsy. The buttons feel mushy, and it doesn't seem like it will last long (which, given my experience, it won’t). Battery Life is Awful – This remote eats through batteries faster than any other device I own. A rechargeable option would have been much better, but instead, I’m stuck constantly swapping AA batteries. No Backlit Buttons – For a media remote, this is a major oversight. Trying to use it in a dimly lit room is incredibly frustrating. Final Verdict: I regret wasting my money on this twice. It’s unreliable, laggy, and doesn’t perform as advertised. If you’re thinking about getting one—don’t. Just use your DualSense controller; it works way better. Sony really dropped the ball on this one. ⭐ 1/5 Stars – Would give zero if I could.

Good
The remote itself is good and useful, but the batteries that came with it was weak. Didn't work for more than a week. Use some good batteries if you can people.
