I’m aware you don’t chew them! Why do they taste like ashes when my first order did not?

My current bottle from Costco has that burnt smell. It is the capsule. I can't swallow pills so I empty the powder inside in milk. It does not taste. My previous bottles never smelled like that.

My order was left in the Mailbox in freezing weather. Are they still good?
