Great product will buy over and over again!

This stuff helps prevent scale but IME it does not remove it once formed. It is easy to use but needs to be constantly added to the pool. You can swim right away after adding it.

I have used this for 2 years. It simply does the job of getting rid of calcium scale in my plaster pool. When my pool was first put in service, the scale came fast. I tried scrubbing with a pumice stone and various chemicals that were cheaper than this product. I finally decided to give it a try and I have never looked back. This product simply works. I am now to the point of using a small amount, maintenence dose. I try to do it monthly but if I forget, it's no problem. This product is worth the money. So far, I've been able to catch price drops and saved a few bucks.

Didn’t work for me. Put 3 gallons of this stuff in my pool and it did absolutely nothing about the calcium scaling. Waited the 4 weeks and brushed almost daily. Nothing changed. Snake oil.

My result using this product to remove calcium was very positive. I have a fiberglass in-ground in pool which is approaching 40 years in age and I perform all maintenance and repairs myself. Approximately every eight years I empty and paint the fiberglass shell to renew the appearance. During the intervening years I invariably experience a significant calcium buildup. This is the only product I have found which will remove my calcium buildup. I have tried a litany of other commercial cleaners including those focusing on lime/calcium/rust as well as many recommended home remedies such as white vinegar. None were successful but this product worked the visit time. Be away that some but not an extreme amount of scrubbing is required.

ScaleTec Plus seems to work as indicated and I am very happy with this product and intend to use it for the foreseeable future. Backstory: I have a concrete/gunite in-ground pool with white-blue Diamond-Brite plaster. It is a chlorine pool, which is 2 years old, 15,000 gal. It is is partially shaded. It had some older lime scale from improper initial startup from 2 years ago. This summer it also developed regular calcium scale. The calcium scale formed due to the very hard water we have in Houston. I dropped the ball on my weekly maintenance this summer, so the pH in my pool was creeping up and was high most of the time. In combination with high calcium content in the water, this causes immediate scaling. My scale spots were extra unsightly because I had an algae problem concurrently and some of the algae color was trapped in the scale causing them to look greenish/yellowish. In addition, I had brown iron stains in 2 places caused by my pool heater in areas around the water returns. The treatment which I applied was as follows: 1. Drop the acidity/pH to around 7.0 2. Drop the free chlorine to 0. 3. Treat the iron stains with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) for 24 hours. Use ScaleTec in addition to "Metal Out" product as metal sequestrant. 4. Raise the chlorine gradually to normal levels over 2 days. 5. Pour a double-dose of ScaleTec Plus to work its magic on the calcium scale. 6. Spot-treat the hardest/darkest calcium scale areas manually with a spot-treatment tool with muriatic acid. It helped but it was very slow and it took about 1 hour to treat a couple of square feet. 7. Pour in additional 8 ounces of ScaleTec weekly and let it work. 8. Maintain the water balance normally, with pH slightly on the lower end of the scale around 7.0-7.2 (using muriatic acid). So far, in about 2-3 weeks, I notice that 80% of the scale is gone. If it continues this way, it will completely clear out the pool. I will write an update in a month or two. I am very happy with the ScaleTec product and will make it part of my regular maintenance. When you have hard water like we do here, the only way is to find something which keeps the calcium in suspension. Otherwise it scales up immediately, especially if you let your water balance get out of whack.
