Where have you been all my life! - SheWee Comparison
OK, so I feel a little silly saying I LOVE a FUD, but I really do! I know I read here that you should practice at home before relying on this in the field, but I really don't think it is necessary. This FUD is almost full-proof. Yes, it probably is over priced for a plastic funnel with a 6 inch hose attached, but I don't regret my purchase one bit! I also have a SheWee. I thought I really loved it too - until I got the Freshette! Now, I LIKE the SheWee, but I LOVE the Freshette. Now, back to the 'practice' advice - if you do buy the SheWee, I absolutely recommend practicing (a lot) at home, before using it in the field, but with the Freshette there is really no thought process or precise positioning required. Just place it in the general area and empty your bladder. I initially purchased the SheWee over the Freshette for three reasons. First, I thought that the Freshette was a LOT bigger, but it really is not. The Freshette IS some what bigger, but it is not too big to prevent discretion. I can easily use the Freshette with only unzipping the fly of most jeans (I wear my jeans loose). If you wear tight jeans you might have to unbutton. With the SheWee, you have to get the positioning and angle of the FUD in such a way that I cannot get away with just unzipping the fly. Don't misunderstand - I DO like my SheWee too, and you can certainly use it discretely (IF you are careful), but not as discretely as the Freshette. The Freshette allows use without any exposure at all - unless you are wearing tight pants, or pants without a fly. Second, the SheWee has one advantage over the Freshette - The SheWee is manufactured with a coating on the plastic that makes liquid easier to shake off of the device. The Freshette does not have this coating and can not be dried as quickly. With the SheWee, three or four vigorous shakes and any water that you have used to rinse it with just flies off of it, making it dry to return to where ever you are storing it. This is not the case with the Freshette. You can shake, tap, or even beat it against a stick, yet water droplets will still remain. Now if you are just out camping and can leave it out to dry for a few minutes it will dry, but that may not be ideal for many situations. Which brings me to my third reason for initially buying the SheWeeโฆ The SheWee comes with a case to carry it in. The Freshette does not, it comes with ziplock type baggie. Well, what I did not realize when I purchased the SheWee is the hard case is big - in my opinion, the SheWee in the hard case is bigger than the Freshette in the baggie LOL. So, in summationโฆ the SheWee is smaller, repels liquid better, and easier to pack (without the case). However, you do need to pay attention to the placement of the device and have more room between the SheWee and your clothing to achieve the right angle to prevent an accident. The more clothing you have on, the more challenging it is to prevent accidents. It is almost impossible to achieve proper placement of the SheWee without SLIGHT exposure of yourself. If you are fairly coordinated, I would think it would be possible to use the SheWee with an empty bottle as a collector, but that would take some more practice! (I have not tried this) Even using the extension tube (included with the deluxe set) you still must maintain the correct positioning and angle of the SheWee. The Freshette is so easy to position that no proper placement or angles need be contemplated. It is a little bigger than the SheWee, but I feel that this is why it is so much easier to use without having an accident. Depending on your clothing, it is possible to use the Freshette without exposing yourself at all. The Freshette does take more time to dry after use. Liquid can start oozing from the tube in many directions at once when the flow is weak, but this should only be an issue if you are using a toilet. [just be a sweetie and wipe the seatie]. Using a bottle as a collector should be no problem with the Freshette - just place the end of the hose in the bottle. Finally the Freshette costs more than any of the other FUD's that are offered here on Amazon. No matter which FUD you decide on - a final scrape forward will remove any excess liquid from your body as efficiently as using tissue. Everyone should look at their own expectations and requirements, but for me - my only regret is that I didn't just go ahead and spend the extra money for the Freshette initially. I will still keep the SheWee somewhere to use if the Freshette is not available, but I can easily say that I would not hesitate to purchase another Freshette should something happen to this one!

I.C. Sufferers and Outdoors Women Rejoice!
I suffer from a condition called Interstitial Cystisis. One of the symptoms I struggle with from it is urinary frequency, and by urinary frequency I mean VERY frequent. When you don't go frequently it also becomes very painful from a full bladder. It makes it difficult to leave home. I was unable to spend time in nature as often as I like because squatting outdoors means getting bug bites in not so nice places. Multiple medication trials failed to help, so I decided to look into FUDs (Female Urination Devices) I had my mind set on another brand at first, but after a bit of research I settled on the Freshette. It works SO well! No longer do I have to expose my bum to the pests of the great outdoors, and I can relieve my bladder when I need to! I can finally spend time out in the woods again without stress. It suits feminine bits well, and I haven't had a leak or any problems with it. Though the one shown in the listing was pink and white, the one I received was green with a clear tube, but I don't mind! This product is perfect for my fellow I.C. sufferers that enjoy the outdoors, as well as campers, hikers, hunters, travelers... the list goes on! I use mine when traveling so I don't have to "hover" over public toilets. It's easy to clean, and after over a month of use, no foul smell or discoloration yet. I recommend buying or sewing a pouch to keep it in, as the plastic one it comes with isn't ideal, but it does work for awhile! This product has honestly changed my life for the better, I don't know why I didn't buy it sooner!

Completing changed camping for me!
Most awkward review ever but wanted to be honest and provide as much info as possible. We were planning a back country camping trip in the desert and I knew I needed a better solution since there would be NO privacy. Amazon did not deliver this in time so I had to pick one up from REI but Iโm so glad I did. First, the main points: PROS: - Hard plastic makes it easy to hold and easy to use under shorts or with a zipper - Compact - I could literally pee almost anywhere! So much better than looking for a spot and worrying about getting pee on my clothes - Not hard to use like I imagined (didnโt get to practice at home first, but survived with no issues) - Very easy to rinse out and clean - Worth saying again, complete freedom! CONS: - Trying to tell my body it was ok to pee while standing took a little getting used to - Have to work and getting the process down. Learning how to juggle the thing, water to rinse, etc took some trial and error - The plastic storage bag doesnโt seem like it will last and Iโll need a different solution My first attempt at using this was in the dark while camping. Was able to figure it out easily enough, make sure the tube in inserted the correct way so you donโt have to worry about it coming out and youโre good to go. Trying to get my body to pee while standing was probably the hardest part, lol. It was easy to hold and the hose was long enough that I had no fear about getting anything on my clothes. I did find you needed to tilt forward at the end to make sure everything drained out. Once done is where I struggled more. Trying to keep in one hand not touching anything, wipe (itโs hard to undo years of training in the first attempt), zip up my shorts with the other hand, rinse it off, etc. After a few uses it got easier and I found a rhythm. I also found that having a little bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket was great! I would highly recommend getting the hang of it first, and then taking it everywhere! Camping, fishing, road trips, public bathrooms, traveling, the uses are endless. Was so easy, no more squatting and trying to avoid things. Well worth all the jokes and laughs we had about on it the trip and donโt know how Iโll ever camp again without one!

Excellent product that solved my travel issue.
I read all of the reviews on all of the products of this type and settled on this one. I am quite happy with how well it works. It takes a few times to practice with it in the shower so you don't wet your clothes when you are dressed, but I caught on really quickly. The only reason that I gave it four stars instead of five is that I think it could have been better with the outflow tubing length. I found that I was getting splash drops on my shoes because I could not direct it far enough away from me so that when the stream hit the ground it splashed back. I went to Lowes and bought some more tubing and replaced the short one. I think the short one would be less to carry for hikers, etc, but I want it in my car so the extra bulk doesn't matter. As far as those who are concerned about needing toilet tissue, I don't think you do. You can quickly learn to just tilt the back up just a bit and draw it forward like a squeegee and you are nice and dry. Some folks asked if you could use it sitting down. If you are perched on the edge of a car seat or a wall, etc, then I would say yes. But if you are in a full sit on a chair or in your car, you would probably have to practice a lot to perfect that move. Then for the cleanliness issue. The plastic that the trough and the tubing is made of is so slick that the moisture doesn't really stick to it. A gentle shake will take away any excess and then any plastic zippy bag will keep your belongings from touching it. I think that the technique for using this item is to hold it with the back edge tipped up just a bit and when you release your stream, try to do it in a relaxed way instead of full blast. This product works really well.

Yes.
I literally cannot say enough good things about my Freshette. Best. Thing. Ever. I'm a military pilot and routinely fly to...less than awesome locations in an aircraft with...less than awesome facilities. Which is a pretty awesome life, I'll admit, but my Freshette has made it significantly better. This handy device easily fits in my pocket and affords me complete privacy. I recommend learning to use Freshette in the comfort of your own home. Start in the shower if you're really shy. You'll need to practice since it's not something most girls are used to. The first few times you use it in public, give yourself some extra time if you're at all prone to a shy bladder. You'll be convinced that everyone is staring at your backwards feet and preparing to pepper you with questions the second you're done. You'll get over that pretty quickly and then wonder how you ever traveled/lived without your Freshette. Things I like: 1. After over a year of use...it doesn't smell. I'm good about washing it out at the end of every day, but I don't have time after every use. A good wash in the bathroom sink with a little handsoap followed by an overnight air dry, and zero residual smell. Huge win. 2. No drips. I'm often in places without the luxury of TP. The beauty of this little lady is that if you slide it forward and give it a good shake (TMI?), you'll be left pretty clean. Quick hand sanitize and you're good to continue exploring or adventuring. 3. No overflow, splashback, or aiming issues. Very clean to use. The long spout means you can aim well (even if the guys don't) and not make the problem worse. Any girl who's ever had to hover over a filthy toilet will know exactly what I mean. 4. Size. This baby is compact enough when packaged up to be smaller than the average smartphone. Easily fits in large cargo style pockets, purses, or backpacks. Downsides: You'll probably have to explain how you pee standing up more often than you'd like...but it's so worth it for the cleanliness, privacy, and peace of mind that this little gadget offers. Also, I wish it came in Purple. What can I say, I'd love color options... Places I'd highly recommend using Freshette: 1. Airplane, bus, or train bathrooms 2. Traveling in less than 5 star fashion 3. Hiking - no more bare butt brush squatting 4. REST STOP/GAS STATION BATHROOMS- seriously, are those ever cleaned? 5. Basically whenever Need I say more? If you don't have the Freshette, buy one. If you know a woman who needs this for her next adventure, buy it for her. If you just want to pee standing up (and don't have natural hardware), buy it. Bottom line...Buy it.

So glad I ordered this!
Before a camping trip in 2014, I was trying to figure out what I could do to avoid the nightly trips to the restrooms, which require getting dressed and unzipping the tent, etc., and is really a pain. I found another device, the Shewee, and the video made it look so easy to use, so I ordered it. I thought it was working ok during practice at home...until I tried to use it with my hiking shorts on and with a pretty full bladder. Huge mess. This happened another time, and I decided it just wasn't going to work and gave up. Now, we are planning a hiking trip and I want to be able to stay well-hydrated, but not have to squat behind a tree. Also, some areas we will be in have pit toilets which are just vile! If you squat over them, you can feel the air rushing up from the "pit" and the air feels wet. Not acceptable! So, I ordered the Freshette based on the reviews here and on some backpacking/hiking forums. I received the one I saw pictured (military green). I didn't even practice in the shower first, but tried the toilet and it was 100% successful. I have since used it fully dressed and absolutely no leaks, even with a very full bladder. I do feel the need to use some TP afterwards, though, but that's fine because I am thrilled that this works! The real test will be using it with my backpack on. I've already figured out which hiking shorts are preferred, and those are the ones that allow me to place the device going up the leg of the shorts. If I wear shorts that do not allow this, then I will have to pull the shorts down a bit, but underwear can be moved to the side without getting wet (not so easy with the Shewee because of it's shape). I think the Shewee could work if you place it correctly and can control how fast you go with a full bladder, but it's just not worth the risk for me. My trip is in 5 weeks and I intend to practice with the Freshette at least once a day to gain even more confidence and train my bladder to empty while standing. UPDATE 6/4/17: I have since used the Freshette with a full bladder & backpack. I have had 100% success with this device. I also decided to order the pStyle to have something a bit smaller with a discreet carrying case that clips to the outside of my pack. I've also had 100% success with the pStyle and it will be my #1 choice for hiking, with the Freshette along as a backup if I lose the pStyle. Using the Freshette with so much success gave me the confidence to try the pStyle. Both of these devices are awesome! I do believe the key to successful use is to press the back of the device to the perineal area, but to leave an air gap at the front (even just 1/4"). If you hold the Freshette tight to your body, you are creating a sort of airlock, which won't allow the funnel to drain as quickly and that may be why some people get overflow.

Good for trucker
This thing absolutely saved me as a female trucker. You will pee all over yourself with the other ones. You do have to wad up some TP or a paper towel just to be careful but it saves me so much time to be able to pee in a bottle or on the side of the road.

Works great 100%recomend
I bought this when it arrived the hose was folded for shipment was fused together I shoved a spoon handle in the tube to open it (that worked) once I got the hang of it I ended up cutting down the tube it was quite long but works great also for transgender men looking for a quick solution for urnal visits it actually works much better then the typical stand to pee phallic shaped devices just wish the hose was thicker but quite happy with the product I wear it when I go out anywhere it is hard plastic but if you position it right it didn't bother you while wearing it all day

LOVE THIS
I have used this product now for travel and out in public restrooms for 10 years! Love it. Allows you to pee anywhere standing up. It is the best product of all similar products out there. Yes a bit expensive but you will have it forever in your purse. I bought more as presents to all my girlfriends!

I've tried so many brands but this is the one!
Freshette was the first FUD I ever tried (more tha 15 years ago) and after loosing it I bought several other brands (because i had a hard time finding the Freshette at the time) and threw them all out as I don't appreciate peeing down my pants. I eventually found my freshette and so I purchased two. I spend a lot of times outdoors. I used this on army field excersed, hunting or hiking, on boat, while traveling, and even in dirty port-a-potties during concerts n festivals. I currently keep one in my vehicle, atv, snowmobile, boat and hiking bag. So glad Amazon now carries these as I can easily buy replacements as needed
