NIV, Holy Bible, Compact, Paperback

If you prefer the NIV version of the bible -- as I do -- then your only decision points are price, readability and extras, At less than $5, this is as good a value as you are going to find. The fact that this well bound, fairly sturdy and the paper quality is decent makes this even more of a value. It has a very small font but the print is well-rendered. I really need my glasses to read but I have no problems with the 7-point text in this book. As to extras, well, there aren't a whole lot. I have a bible with a leather binding that I value because it's *nice*. I have another bible loaded with analysis, extended discussions of certain points, maps and so on. The NIV Holy Bible doesn't have a nice cover and has minimal other "extras". This book does include the Translator's footnotes along with some cross-references but that's about it...students may want to look elsewhere. If you need a no-nonsense NIV bible, especially one that is very easy to hold in one hand, then this where to go.

How do you rate the Bible? You can't. If you could only read one book, this is THE BOOK. However, I will say that this is just what I was looking for in a Bible. I wanted something in the NIV translation, that I could carry in my (large) purse and have with me everywhere. It is a little thicker than I thought it would be, but it still works. The inexpensive price means that I would choose this one to have on hand to give away too. The font IS a little too small for me to read comfortably, but if it were larger, the book would be just too bulky to carry with me. Maybe it's time for some reading glasses? :) So blessed to live in a place where I can get my hands on this easily!

Exactly as advertised. The print is very small but it was a gift for a young person and he said it was okay. This is his favorite translation and I am happy it is inexpensive because he loses them.

I love my Bible and highlighting insightful verses, but the reason I have provided 4 stars is because I feel that it is personally a little too small. You can't really write in any notes if you like to do that inside your Bible. If you have a separate notebook for notes, then this Bible would workout for you. The compact size has done me well though, I can easily grab it and fit it inside my small purse on my way to church. It is also easy to store anywhere in my room. For the price and size, this item was a steal.

Great for the price. I would prefer white pages, it's a dreary tan-ish gray white. And its bigger than I'd like, but much more portable than my other Bible, so I will use it. Very readable, but I'm disappointed that Jesus's words are not in red like other Bibles.

My go to compact bible, in my truck whenever i want to read a verses and questions i need answers

I was searching for a NIV Holy Bible so that I could understand the Bible on more clearer terms and this Bible really breaks things down so that you could understand. My learning abilities on the different things that happened in God's times were amazing to me. This was the best gift I could have brought myself and I'm greatful for it.

I figured hey, $5 for a 1000+ page novel? Awesome! And it's even a multi-book compilation, cool! But wow, if ever a writer needed to be told "show, don't tell"... I mean imagine if George RR Martin wrote in a style like: "And so-and-so traveled to this place, and the lord of this place was mad and had so-and-so-killed." It's like, entirely written this way. Whole wars are described in a "and they fought, and this side won" style. *spoilers* Even worse, it's like... nothing happens. Aside from some really big stuff, like the death of nearly everything on the planet, very little else actually happens. Even when there are great plot-point opportunities. I mean, the main character (at least in the early part, I don't know how long he'll last) deceives a king and gets lots of stuff for it. But then he's found out. Big epic battle, or devestating assassination, right? Nope, the king... lets him leave... with the stuff. There's more drama and action in teenage fanfiction. Though, if you think Jaime + Circe is weird? This one old guy has two daughters that get him drunk and take turns with him. I gave it a go, and I got about 20 chapters in... so don't tell me I didn't give it a fair shot, even if it somehow gets better later. No novel should take so long to get going. I would say 'shame on the author', but i suppose you get what you pay for. 1000+ pages for the price of a Chuck Tingle short story.
