Fluval Bug Bites Turtle Food, 3.74 lb, Brown

I volunteer at a wildlife rescue. Part of my “job” is to work with our unreleasable ambassador animals…which includes 2 eastern box turtles with way too much personality. I grabbed these (I already feed bug bites as a treat for my fish at home) to see if they would enjoy them, & boy did they. Had them out on the lawn to stretch their legs & placed one in front of each …went straight for them. I repeated this all the way across the lawn, with Rosie & Rio following close behind to snatch them up. It’s going to be part of my Friday time with my 2 little BFFs!

I have a very picky yellow bellied slider turtle and he loves this food.

This is hands down the best food I’ve used for my turtles. Looking at the ingredients, it’s impressive that Black Soldier Fly larvae is the primary component—it really mimics their natural, insect-based diet in the wild. It’s also packed with high-quality proteins like whole salmon, which is rich in Omega 3 and 6, and enriched with essential vitamins like D3 to support strong shell development. My turtles absolutely love the taste and get excited the second they see the sticks hit the water. Since switching to this formula, I’ve noticed they’ve grown to a great size and look incredibly healthy and active. The sticks are easy for them to manage, and it’s reassuring to know there are no artificial fillers or preservatives. It’s a high-quality, nutrient-dense option that delivers great results.

It was a good item and at a good price.

I am a wildlife rehabilitator and this has been super useful on some of our insectivores that need a little bit more hydration.I love that the black soldier flight larvae is number one ingredient

Good

I have an Asian Flap shell turtle who is a very picky eater. He absolutely LOVES Bug Bites though. He has very specific dietary requirements, and so he can't eat only Bug Bites, or he most certainly would... one whole bag at a time. Also, once he has some Bug Bites, he rejects the rest of his food, and tries to hold out for more bug Bites. Therefore, I save the Bug Bites for last. They are, in a way, his desert. I've been feeding these to him for several weeks now, and he has not once turned his nose up at them.

It's a few bucks more expensive than other brands, but I don't mind since most every other turtle foods are made from horrible ingredients. Soldier fly larvae are also the number ingredient, and are known to be the highest calcium insect in the world. Which is great since turtles need a lot of calcium. There's also salmon in it which is super healthy with the omega vitamins. I'm guessing the salmon is also why my alligator snapping turtles love it so much. I feed them shrimp, grasshoppers, crickets, mealworms, minnows and yet they go for this turtle food first. Probably the only thing they like more is freshly caught crappie, or perch from the lake. I would say don't even bother with other brands. This one blows them out of the water.

Viel Fleisch drin. Für zwischendurch eine gesunde Mahlzeit
