Is this too large for the mini 2?

The mini 2 handles it fine. It will fit on top, and there are mounts available to fit on the bottom. Without blocking the button or the vents. But do note that it puts the mini 2 over 250 grams and thus must be registered with the FAA in the United States

How does it mount? I can’t find this in the manufacturer product information.

It came to me with 3 peices of 3M tape. One peice was strictly double sided for a permanent mount and the other two are hook and loop (velcro) so you can remove the light. The light can still be charged when mounted on the aircraft.

Will these work on the older dji phantom series drones? if so where would you mount them?

Yes, I would think it would work. It has it's own self contained rechargeable battery. This is a anti-collision strobe and it should be mounted to the top of the drone. It is very bright, and comes with Velcro to allow you to mount it.

are there mounts available for this?

Ha ha. Addressing another answer…. There are no mounts included, so you need to mount it with the included Velcro mounts. SMH.
