Stick with bark great for a renaissance fair; rustic hiking stick
At this price, consider this stick a good value; bought primarily for a renaissance fair - and also doubted the U.S. made stick I ordered would ship in time. Overall am pleased although this model - made from a tree root in China - has a bit of a crook at the tip. And a sort of pit at the upper end (like a root would). Since I am short, if this should crack at the end, I would just saw off and re-cap. Feels sturdy and the poly varnish is evenly done, seems like a genuine leather cord; and not too heavy. I think I can carry comfortably all day at a fair and it will be useful on the uneven ground. Not an outdoor expert but, the imbedded compass seems lite and, well, cheap; it might work - or not. It's cute tho. (If going into the wilderness I suggest a good reliable compass or two, personally). At some point I will probably leather wrap the carrying end; but not sure it's really needed. And for fairs I will tie on a small leather bag for the "wandering medieval peasant" look. Past the fair will make a good hiking stick and it definitely looks cooler than my extendible pink metal hiking sticks. Expect to get years of use out of this, and think it is attractively rustic. Am about 5'3" so perhaps this is a very slightly long stick for me, but I wanted a longer stick and the length in hand, for me, felt fine.

Great walking stick.
Great stick. Keeps me from falling. Sleep with it by the bedstead. Grab it first thing in the morning. Very strong for a short 240 lb. Man.

Problems with Length and Wrist Strap
The size guide said to order the 55 in size if you were up to 5 ft 11 in tall. I am exactly 6 feet. I had to cut the stick down by 3-4 in at the bottom in order for my hand to grip at a comfortable position. I could not imagine a 5 ft 4 in person walking with a stick of this length and position of the grip. The other issue was the wrist strap. I have a medium size hand and wear a medium size glove but the strap is way to small. Not only difficult to get on but does not allow my hand to reach down the grip all the way; therefore, I removed it and will either go without it or find something like a short shoe lace to replace it with. Otherwise the stick looks good and is sturdy. Update: I decided t get another brand, Brozos. Their 55 inch was fine for me as it has a long rawhide wrist strap that allows me to drop my hand grip down to a comfortable level. It cost about $25 more but worth it for comfort.

Beautiful Piece of Work
My friend and I hiked 1k elevation up a steep mountain trail. We both have bad knees, mines been through 2 surgeries and im still at PT. This stick was sturdy and the perfect height for my 6ft friend. It saved him from tripping a few times and could be used to prop himself up onto a rock. We felt little to no pain the next day despite 8 miles and shakey legs at the end. Not saying the stick will make your pain disappear but my lord, does it give you relief, stability and confidence on rough terrain. Without this stick I dont think he could've made it up the mountain as easily without getting hurt or in tons of pain. I got my own from a different amazon seller so I will post that review where it belongs. Ps great for dog walks, flat trails, and protests. :) can keep you safe or help someone who is hurt.

Solid and reliable stick.
I lost my first stick to circumstances, and this is a great alternative. A bit more flexible, pine or wax wood I'd guess, but fine. Green, so she'll break in with my walking style. A stick is like boots and gloves - gotta work them in.
