Used this to clone working OS onto a new NVMe M2 SSD
Upgraded my M2 P1 Crucial 500 GB to a 1M2 TB Samsung 970 EVO using this M2 NVMe to USB converter. You can use Samsung Magician, which is free to use, if both drives are from Samsung. Same goes with Crucials' app. In my case, i was going from a Crucial to a Samsung drive. Cant use either app to clone. I had to use Acronis. I used the 2020 Acronis version for current March 1st 2023 build of winblows. Worked. Once you install your M2 SSD into this enclosure you need to go into disk management and initialize the disk so your winblows can see it and work with it. Till then your winblows wont see it at all even though the task manager has the icon to remove this device. I hit the silicone lottery jackpot and this thing saw both my drives. Some chips are weird and only will work with certain hardware even though they state they work with certain protocols. Very cool looking clear see through drive. Well made. The only thing i can see not last is the plastic sliding cover. I think the tabs locking the cover in place will eventually wear down. If you do not open and close this thing all the time you won have to worry. If you do then you are going to have to deal with a sliding cover that wont lock. Nothing a little bit of electrical tape wont fix though. The adapter came with 2 cables even though the manual only states it comes with one. You get a USB C to USB 3 and a USB C to USB C. This thing also comes with a M2 Standoff as well as the tiny screw and you get a cool little screw driver. The actual case this thing comes in is quite handy as well. Going to keep it. I am talking about the physical cardboard box. Inside you get the plastic "housing" that stores the drive. I am not goign to chuck that and keep it. You wont be disappointed with this thing.

Nice product can’t recommend it enough
Is a great little enclosure used to upgrade my laptop. Haven’t done this before but it wasn’t too difficult. Took about an hour to transfer my ssd 500Gb to my new 1TB drive. It works fine and my laptop has a new lease of life! Used the usb c cable but you have a usb c to A as well if you don’t have that. Only thing I wasn’t sure is where to put the heat sink compound but worked that out. Just a bit fiddly to get the screw in but you get a screwdriver with it.

Easy to use, well performing USB-C NVME carrier
I have two of these small caddies, which I carry in my pencilcase every day to work. Despite the seemingly flimsy construction, once assembled it is light and solid, and so far - after more than a year of regular use - the USB socket doesn't seem to suffer any reliability issues. It should be noted that the aluminium radiator gets very hot to the touch when writing large amounts of data, to the point that it is almost too hot, so it's probably good practice to make sure it is fully exposed and the right side up for better heat dissipation. I found the thermal pad too small for larger NVMEs, which often contain more than 1 memory chip, and I ended up buying a full-length strip elsewhere. This increases the friction on the system when closing the plastic lid, as there's more pad surface gripping against the underside of the radiator, but a slow sliding action can eventually overcome this and also make sure that the lid will not come undone by accident. Performance if of course limited by the USB interface, so max 10Gbps - this is NOT a Thunderbolt adapter - so purchasing expensive and fast NVMEs for this device is a waste of money. At this data rates, I did not notice any thottling, and I'm guessing that is the reason why the radiator gets so hot, as the heat-radiating surface isn't that much so the memory chips get rather hot, but not enough to affect data transfers for a standard USB-C connection. Overall a very good buy for the price, which seems to be more durable than its construction might lead to assume.

Does what it says
Looks good, easy to use, but only had one heat transfer pad ( the instructions said there were two) had to buy a second pad. Got very hot when transferring a lot of data but didn't fail. It should work to clone drives with samsung magician as the make of the inserted memory card is shown.

Perfect for SSD System Disk Backups
Purchased in order to set up an SSD backup of my desktop system (Crucial P310 system, Kingston NV3 backup, Macrium Reflect software.) The kit comes with 2 cables (USB-C fitting to the case) and a screwdriver to mount the NVMe drive (very nice mounting system, given the constraints). Unit immediately recognised, drive initialised, and a full Boot drive clone took under 10 minutes (including auto-adjusting from P310 (953Gb) to NV3 (931Gb) size.) The advantage is that it helps maintain a 1-for-1 swap if/when the in-system SSD fails, without worrying about compatibility issues. All in all, a very smooth, efficient and easy to use enclosure and, given some prices seen for the identical enclosure, excellent value for money. The only 'difficult' part is making sure the drive you're going to use is an NVMe (standard, and usually clearly marked.)

Easy to use, but no locking mechanism for cover
Bough this as I needed to clone a drive image to a few m.2 drives and this was the most cost effective solution. Housing looks great and does the job. Unfortunately the housing is not held together very well, just clipped together like the battery cover of a TV remote. There is no securing or locking screws or tabs. I am happy to use this housing when at a desk but would prefer something sturdier for travelling or using it outside.

Does not work correctly under MacOS BigSur
I would leave more stars for the design and build of this item but I bought this specifically to house a 1TB NVMe SSD drive for our iMac to use as a TimeMachine Drive. In Disk Utility the drive initially showed as 2x 1TB partitions. I tried to delete the 'extra' partition but a third was added. I tried to completely erase the drive but to no avail. It was then displayed with 3x 1TB partitions. I think the hardware may need a firmware update to work with APFS formatted drives correctly. I am unable to comment on its performance in Windows / Linux. YMMV. Having said all the above the item is nice in design and easy to use although it is advertised as not requiring tools but you do have to screw the SSD to the board inside which negates it's description. I purchased a Sabrent case (ASIN B08RVC6F9Y) which worked straight away when plugged in. This is a truly tool-free enclosure with a much higher build quality.

Caddy cloned 1TB to 4TB (Reuse 1TB as usb stick in this)
Worked flawlessly to clone a recent 1TB windows 11 install to a 4TB disk (own software) - now using the case as a caddy for the 1TB as a usb stick for OTG data transfer.

870MB in scrittura e 930MB in lettura.
