Finished the book in 2 days
A short book but lots of value in reading it. Nice layout. The short chapters encouraged me to read on as used them as little milestones and before I knew it, I finished the book in 2 days. It was an enjoyable read. I personally got my highlighter pen and highlighted things that stood at to me and used it a bit like a workbook and can easily reference back to them in the future to guide me.

Amazing Highly recommend
I cant write enough words to describe how influential and powerful and knowledge packed this book is towards helping you with your self discipline. I used to wonder how others were able to achieve their dreams and goals and why I always failed due to lack of discipline. In summary, this book is 10 out of 10 and I cannot highly recommend this author daniel walter and the boon enough. It was short with 17 short chapters but packed with invaluable tips and knowledge and gives you the blueprint to basically achieve your goals and I cannot highly recommend already feel the paradigm shift as i’ve taken action.

review
I read atomic habits immediately before this and it seemed quite a bit of this book was that from atomic habits. I also was expecting a little more about how to develop self discipline. However, there are still some useful things I would take away, and I would say this is a good intro to the field of developing good habits and systems. It’s also clear from the good reviews that many people found this book very helpful.

I’m not a reader usually… but now I am.
I can only give my opinion of this book, but understand that I do not actually enjoy reading, or at least I never did prior to this book. I really found the language used, the practical explanations and some theoretical elements resonate well with me in this book. It’s clear the writer has a passion for his subject of self improvement no matter how small it may seem it’s a step forward. For me, competing the book was a great step. It’s now enabling me to implement little steps into my life to generate more control over goals, tasks, and willpower to ensure I can be better than I was yesterday. If you are looking to improve or just self reflect on how you can make some changes or you have never really been a reader, I certainly would recommend this book and already have told friends, colleagues and family about it. Really great read. I know there are some reviews that say it’s same old etc, but like I said that’s their opinion and this is mine. It’s helped me and I know I’ll refer back to this book in the future. Since reading I have now just ordered Atomic Habits by James Clear which is also referenced in this book by Daniel Walter. Just buy it and read it. What’s the worst that could happen?

It is ALL up to you to make the required changes to improve!
Found this book by Daniel Walter: “The power of Discipline” to be an excellent read on how to develop and enhance self-discipline that gave me extra knowledge and inspiration on new ways of looking at things and to avoid the “try and do methods” to becoming a “doer”. Found some new and interesting concepts within Zen Philosophy and goal attainment including meditation for self-discipline to remain focussed. It was beneficial to learn about Theodore Sturgeon: “Sturgeon’s law” and Vilfredo Pareto: “Pareto Principle”. Sturgeon’s law argues: “…there was probably some truth in a lot of science fiction work being a low-quality genre, it’s possible to say the same thing about everything…” The Pareto principle argues: “… 80% of land is owned by 20% of people and applying it to the 80/20 rule in business management: 80% of our efforts achieve just 20% of activities, and vice versa. Or 20% Pea plants in Pareto’s garden produced 80% of best pea pod – termed “the law of the vital few i.e., the 80/20 rule. My prior knowledge and awareness of the Pareto Principle in a nutshell means that you need not only work harder but to work smarter. In conclusion, this usually means for all of us: “…taking responsibility for the state of your life at this moment. Whether it is your finances, lifestyle, relationships, or your mindset, it is up to you to make the required changes to improve…”. This following quote by Jim Rohn in the book encapsulates the overall message of what self-discipline entails: “You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons or the wind, but you can change yourself”. Very high recommendation by me to purchase this book and also worth reading the 80/20 Management by Julie-Ann Amos book on the Pareto principle and the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), book written in 2002 by Lesley Morrissey, "Grow Your Own Achievers.

Let's Get Disciplined!
I truly enjoyed this book. It helped me to really embrace the fact that I lack self discipline in some areas of my life. This book also educated me on how to achieve self discipline. It is a very easy read and straight to the point book. I recommend it to people of all walks of life. I can't wait to read another one of Daniel Walter's books!

A very good read.
Self discipline is the main point of the book. One of the most useful ideas Daniel gave in this book is to love the process. Many times, we achieve a goal, however small it is, we then forget to keep continuing. However, if we keep following the process, the path to attain the same will become our habit...

Top!
