Worked perfect for my project
We used this to cover the exposed edges for some new melamine shelves that we bought for our pantry. We followed the directions provided on the package, and had no problems. The instructions indicated you should use the iron at 150 degrees, not sure what setting that would be on my 20-year-old iron, so we figured the silk setting (#3) was a good place to start. It worked just fine, melted the glue and attached to the shelf as I was watching it. We ironed directly on the edging, and the iron did not mar the surface. We had 3/4 inch shelf and purchased the 3/4 inch edging and lined it up with the top edge of the shelf, it was the perfect size, no cutting required at all. We had to sand the edge slightly to smooth it out, but that was all. The material is thick and flexible, and looks great. The white matches my shelves perfectly (or because it is vertical and the top is horizontal, I can’t tell the difference, who cares!). I would recommend you go ahead and buy it!

Works great!
I used this to fix some exposed edges for some shelves that I purchased from a big-box store (you know the places). The process of applying this to the shelves was extremely easy. Couldn't be happier with the results. And, the edges match the color perfectly. Here's some tips for naysayers, though! 1. Buy the NEXT size up for the shelf thickness that you need (ie: your shelf thickness is 3/4"-inch. You should BUY the 7/8"-inch roll). You'll have to trim it down with a utility knife and sand the edges, but you don't have to worry about perfectly aligning things and hoping that it stays lined up, or if the edge material is actually 3/4"-inch. This is how all edge banding works, btw. 2. Cut the length you need from the roll, and have a little bit of overhang on both ends. Secure the piece of roll material in place with some masking tape, to keep the roll material centered to the shelf's exposed edge. This is to hold the roll material in place to keep it from shifting, or becoming unaligned from the shelf. Just to clarify, you want some overhang on all 4 edges (because you're going to be trimming it off/ lightly sanding it). 3. Use some parchment paper between your iron and the roll material. It won't burn, and it keeps you from possibly leaving unnecessary marks on the newly applied edging.

Easier to install than I thought it would be
Use my ancient iron, which is a 1970's Black and Decker cheap model, this went on super easy, with minor shaving of edges that was also easy to do and ended up looking very professional with almost no learning curve. Trimming the edges is one of the steps of installation, so it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong! I really worried that this would be difficult to put on, but it was easy. One thing is to cut the pieces very slightly long, because it's easy to shorten the pieces, or trim the abutting new piece to fit the first one laid down, but impossible to make any pieces longer. Also, once down, these cannot be repositioned. You can take it off and put in a new piece, but these do not adhere more than once. There is a very, very slight ability to curvefrom side to side; up as downthis has a lot of bend (obviously, since it comes in a roll). All in all, a great product. But watch an installation video before you start.

Good glue, very thin
Perfectly 1-1/2” with no room for error. Worked for doubled up 3/4 melamine, barely. Super thin, like paper. Telegraphed any speck of dust through to the surface. Glue stuck well, even on a second pass to seal the edges. So thin you could barely soften the edges before you sanded through and showed the wood underneath. It worked for shelves, but I wouldn’t want it for an appearance edge.

Worked really well
I'm a professional carpenter and ran about 200' of this on a euro box cabinet set. It worked really well. Went on easily with less temperature than recommended. I just use an old iron and my digital laser thermometer to set it at about 375 F. It only overhangs 3/4 melamine by less than 1mm on each side which actually makes it easier to trim. Be sure to break the edges with sand paper when you finish trimming it with your razor blade so that there is nothing to get hung up on later. Beveling the edge slightly after trimming is a must. How long you have to iron it to activate the glue is kind of a feel thing though you can see the glue liquify on the 1mm edge if you are in doubt.
