This worked great for me!
I used the 7A dark blonde color and loved it! I used it to cover brassiness and blend grays and it worked perfectly. Please note, this is DEMI permanent color, it does not have ammonia or peroxide/bleach in it so it will not lighten your hair- only stay same tone or darker. I think bad reviews donโt understand this. My natural hair is brown with some grays. I wanted to add some blonde to blend the grays in better, so I gradually lightened it over a few months (John Freida go blonder spray). That worked well and I really liked it, but as my hair grew out and I tried to add the lightening spray mostly to darker roots, it still always got on the lengths of my hair and eventually turned all of my hair too light and too yellow/orange brassy (as brown hair tends to do when bleached out). I tried toning it with purple conditioner and purple toning mask (Overtone brand, lightest purple so it wouldnโt darken too much or turn bluish) but it didnโt work at all, still very yellow. So I gave this a try and it was great, completely covered the yellow and partially covered the grays, it looks very healthy and even and blended now. Looks just like the box color AND also left my hair very healthy and glossy. It also smelled very nice. I have no complaints, the 20 minutes suggested in the directions worked perfectly and Iโll use it again if/when this gradually washes out. I prefer this over permanent color because I didnโt want it to look too flat or completely cover all my grays (and give me obvious roots as it grows out). If you are looking for a dye that will blend but still leave some high/low lights, and a softer root line, this is it.

DIY hair at home- yes you can do it! And no $200+ salon bill to pay!๐๐ป
Okay hear me out!! DIY boxed hair dye to use at home.. yup sounds terrifying. Iโve never dyed my hair myself or anywhere other than at a well known salon with someone I trust with my life to do it for me. Well these days who has $200+ to throw at a salon?! Enter, the Clairol demi-permanent hair dye in cool light brown. This is super close to the same color my hairdresser used on me when I decided to go back to my natural hair color after being blonde for over a decade. Well after paying so much to get it redone a few times as it washed out and grew, I had to consider my DIY options. ๐๐ป I added before and afters for reference of course but wow ๐คฉ LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! First off, this color is great and really brought my hair back to life with covering up the blonder color that is growing out still (see my before photos for reference- itโs grown out like halfway-ish so far). The cool light brown color has no warm tones in it. I do not do warm/red tones of any kind in my hair and it would not go with my skin tone so itโs important that I found something that is strictly cool color tones. This also covered up my grays that I unfortunately already have on the top smack dab middle of my head so that was a nice bonus! Second, the dye adds a CRAZY amazing glossy look and feel to your hair. I am most definitely using this again in a couple months if not just for the glossy effect โจ It revived my hair and brought me back from drab to fab! The application is super easy- I mixed it up as instructed and poured the whole bottle all over my head and made sure to cover it all. 20 minutes of sitting and then showering it off and voila!๐ค๐ป Not to mention, they include a conditioner with this and it is amazing!! Also adds glossiness to my hair everytime I use it. There is plenty of conditioner to use and maintain for after the dye job which is nice. I only wash my hair once a week so I expect it to tide me over until I dye it again. Again, my photos here speak for themselves but go ahead and DIY that sh*t girl! We saving moneys in 2026 okurrr ๐

Good color and product. No damage to hair.
I use this every other time I dye my hair to decrease the effects of box dye damage. The color is right and matches my permanent dye color. It does wash out and will fade like itโs supposed to over a couple of weeks. I donโt wash my hair often so it actually lasts longer for me. My hair is 100% white- gray naturally so I was worried it wouldnโt cover my roots. Bc I dye it dark brown those roots really show. But It does cover them. It makes them brown but not as dark brown as a permanent dye. Way better than pure white though. I just came back and ordered 3 more boxes because Iโm happy with it.

Pretty Color, but Lighter on Strawberry Blonde Hair
I really like this shade, but it definitely comes out lighter on strawberry blonde hair than the box suggests. Instead of a deep burgundy, it turned into a soft chocolateโcherry color โ still very pretty, just not as dark or dramatic. The formula itself is gentle, smells better than most dyes, and leaves my hair feeling soft thanks to the added oils. If youโre starting with lighter hair, just keep in mind that the final color will be more of a warm reddishโbrown with cherry tones rather than a true dark burgundy. Still, itโs a lovely shade and fades nicely over time.

Works even on delicate hair without doing damage
Color is just as pictured and leaves your hair undamaged. Color is not what I would call believable but it's also not necessarily but a teenager a college kid would use and it's fine for a working professional. And it lasts longer on my hair than permanent color does.

This stuff is amazing.
I am 51 and I have strands of gray in my hair. I really donโt want to have to do a full permanent dye job because I think it will affect the texture of my healthy hair. So Iโve been experimenting with different options. I have spent $300-400 a pop to get a haircut and color at a professional place more than once. And I really donโt think it looks that great and itโs very expensive. So I started experimenting at home and I love this stuff. Itโs amazing. It wonโt cover your gray completely, but it will revive your hair significantly. So this is what Iโve been doing. My natural color is light brown. I take a dollar store permanent brown dye and I just take a little teeny bit in my finger and I actually paint the individual hairs that are gray that I hate. (The ones I really donโt want to show.) Then a few few days later, I apply one of these demi-permanent dyes all over my head. Keep in mind these dyes will not lift color. So itโs going to go on top of whatever color you are. I buy the blonde shades because if I get a brown shade and put it on my light brown hair, it actually makes my hair too dark. So I have tried medium blonde, and medium golden blond. The pictures here show medium golden blonde over light brown hair. The medium blonde itself made my hair a little more brown, but still light brown. If you are starting with blonde hair, youโre going to get a very different color. The dye washes out over the course of about a month and a half. I use hot water and shampoo my hair almost every day and it lasted a month and a half with me doing that. If you donโt want to damage your hair, but you need to refresh your color every six weeks and cover some gray, this is definitely the way to go.

Soft, natural results, but n Quite the Cool Blonde I Expected
I tried this hoping for a subtle, natural-looking blonde refresh, and it wasโฆ okay. The color came out a bit darker than I expected and leaned more neutral than โcool,โ so it didnโt fully cancel out the warmth in my hair. It did leave my hair feeling soft and not overly damaged, which I appreciated, and the smell wasnโt too harsh compared to other dyes. Overall, itโs decent for a gentle, low-commitment color, but if youโre really aiming for a true cool-toned blonde, this might not quite get you there.

A Very Good Demi-Permanent Dye
My hair had been damaged by using a strong permanent hair dye that contained a bleaching agent. I also sit out in the sun a lot so that didn't help my hair any. I decided to try this demi-permanent hair dye in the medium blonde shade. This is truly my natural hair color. Since I needed all-over coverage due to too much lightening, I followed the directions for all-over coverage, not just the roots. First, it was very easy to mix. Just gave the bottle (with the dye mixed in) a good shake. Used the enclosed gloves. Then I applied it. It was a bit gloppy so wear an old towel around your shoulders and make sure you wipe up any spills. I had to use my own hair covering (a disposable food bowl cover does the trick!) I did not shampoo as it said to do afterwards. I just used the conditioner it comes with. Now for the result: slightly darker than I expected. More like a dark blonde. After a week though, it lightened to more of a honey blonde with some highlights. After two weeks it was more like the color I wanted. Now it is almost five weeks and I am due to using this dye once again, as it faded considerably. Note that I do shampoo and condition my hair every day. I bought this demi-permanent in medium blonde again as it did make my hair look healthier and didn't damage it at all. At this time, I don't want to go a shade lighter than this.

Gentle hair dye
First time trying this product after researching plant based and least damaging hair dye. The dark brown variant covered my greying roots blending nicely with my previous colour. Followed the instructions carefully and timely especially my hair has become brittle due to previous dyeing and chemical treatments. No itch or allergic reaction. The treatment included which I applied only to the coloured roots left my hair soft. The tube last me quite a few washes. Highly recommended. Im about to repurchase to replenish my supply. Thanks ๐

Wil buy again. And Recommend.
Remember, this is not bleach, will not lighten hair. Deposits colour a bit darker than expected (1 level) but fantastic grey coverage and excellent, gentle product. Will buy again.
