Little bit goes a long way to save towels
American living deep in the outback where the water is very, very hard (harder than virginia/DC water!). This has been a lifesaver. I did read the review by the person who says you only need less than a tablespoon. And they are right!! I converted an old 1/2 tablespoon measuring spoon and keep in the box. You really don’t need a lot and I cut back a little bit on the amount of detergent used. Saved my towels and clothes and removed limescale.

After Calgon discontinued its powder water softener, I had big problems with my laundry in the hard water. The first time I added this, I used 2 tablespoons for a full load, and had to rinse twice because there was so much soap left in the towels. The next time, I used 1 tablespoon and half as much soap, and the towels rinsed clean and were softer than they had been in years. When you realize how little you have to use, and how much it saves on laundry soap, it's not really expensive.

It’s a small box, yes, but you don’t need much
I use half the recommended amount and it has worked fabulously. Yes, it’s expensive— it’s coming from Europe to the U.S. I only use it on towels and blankets and anything starting to smell musty. Kills the yeasty smelling bacteria after one wash. Will buy more.

Great for grain size analysis as a clay dispersant
I use this at work in my grain size analysis lab. It works great as a clay dispersant, to help remove clay from soil samples that will be then sieved into the various sizes. It's a shame that this is so difficult to find in the US due to regulations regarding phosphates in washing powders.
