Been using for years
Ah, the crisp fall air, the scent of pumpkin spice, and the never-ending battle against those pesky leaves invading your yard like an army of colorful invaders. Fear not, for in this leafy saga, the BLACK+DECKER 3-in-1 Leaf Blower, Vacuum, and Mulcher is your trusty lightsaber – wait, wrong universe – it's your leaf-slaying weapon of choice! Assembling this leaf-tackling beast was easier than decoding ancient hieroglyphs. Click, snap, and voila! I was armed with a tool resembling something from a sci-fi movie, ready to combat the leafy rebellion. First things first, let's talk about the leaf-blowing feature. I revved it up, and oh boy, it's like unleashing a tornado (minus the flying cows). At 230 MPH, this thing could make a superhero cape flutter! Leaves scattered in terror as I wielded this power, feeling like a gardening wizard. But wait, there's more! The vacuum and mulcher functions are where the real leafy magic happens. It's like a vacuum cleaner with an insatiable appetite for leaves. The suction power rivals that of a black hole – leaves disappeared faster than my morning coffee. Now, onto the mulcher. It's not just a mulcher; it's a leaf confetti maker! Those once-pesky leaves were reduced to minuscule pieces, perfect for the soil or a confetti party (Leaftoberfest, anyone?). The 12 Amp corded electric power is like having the energy of a lightning bolt in your hands. No need to worry about running out of battery – just plug it in and unleash leaf-armageddon upon your yard! However, every hero has a weakness, and for this leaf-blasting warrior, it's the bag capacity. It's like a bottomless pit, but in reverse. The bag fills up quicker than you can say "autumnal equinox," which means frequent pit stops to empty it out. Speaking of stops, maneuverability is smoother than a leaf gliding in the wind. The adjustable speed and handle make it feel like you're wielding a leaf bazooka with the precision of a surgeon. In conclusion, the BLACK+DECKER 3-in-1 Leaf Blower, Vacuum, and Mulcher is a leafy revolution in yard maintenance. It's a leaf-blasting extravaganza that turns yard work into a whimsical adventure. So, grab this leaf-slaying machine, embrace your inner gardening superhero, and conquer those leafy foes like a boss!

Great as a blower, included vac bag is problematic
I have changed my rating from 3 to 4.5 stars. The original review is followed by an update below. ----------------------------------------------------- Original Review ----------------------------------------------------- I bought this for leaf cleanup around the house. I figured I'd be able to use both the modes - the blow mode to move leaves, and the vaccuum mode to pick up leaves. Well the blow mode works great, but the vac mode is too weak to pick up leaves. To pick up leaves the open end of the vac nozzle has to be very low to the ground - 1 or 2 inches. Even at this height it struggles to pick up leaves. I'm not talking about wet leaves here, these were dry leaves I was trying to pick up. If you are looking for a vac, this is not it. It works great as a blower, but if that's all you are looking for you can probably save a few bucks by buying a tool that is blower only. I'll leave one more thought - I read a couple of other reviews where the tool failed to start. Mine wouldn't start after the first use either. After that I let it sit in the garage for a few days. I then was going to return it, but thought I would try it one last time. I plugged it in and it fired up. It has since started the couple times that I've used it... I'm hoping it does continue to start. ----------------------------------------------------- One Year Update ----------------------------------------------------- When I originally wrote the review I could not get the tool to vacuum leaves. I have since figured out that it was the bag that was causing me problems: Firstly, the bag is too small to do leaf pickup. It will fill up quickly, which means a lot of taking it off, dumping it, and putting it back on. Secondly, if the bag is not held at the correct angle, the intake into the bag will choke off. My guess is that the choking is why I had so much trouble with the vacuuming initially. I would also speculate and say this is one of the reasons for the reviews here that state that the tool fails after a couple uses. Because of the bag issues above, I bought the BLACK+DECKER BV-006L Blower/Vacuum Leaf Collection System . Paired with this tool I am able to mulch leaves into a 30+ gallon garbage can. This resolves both problems above. However, the airflow into the garbage generates a ton of dust. I would recommend some kind of dust mask when mulching. I can say that using the mulcher with the leaf collection system has saved me a lot of time. Far better than raking!

VERSATILE, POWERFUL LEAF BLOWER/VACUUM
I enjoy yard work, especially in the Fall. This multi purpose tool is perfect for the endless, beautiful, colorful autumn leaves on the lawn. I enjoy the convenience of vacuuming leaves and leaving the mulching to the tool. I can then dump in a bag for disposal. The vacuum is powerful and picks up more than leaves, but I limit dirt entering/clogging the tool. I seldom use the blower function since it's more convenient to simply vacuum. (My rake feels neglected). I noticed a small tear near the zipper (lots of use) that I'll sew. I learned to remember to zip the blower bag before each use, after having leaves blow out. :) The strap helps distribute the blower's weight. It took a few tries to easily switch the attachments from blower to vacuum; I learned to solidity the connections to make sure the device turns on. (Maybe a lit message on the electric model?) That said, I have no issues with the cord. I've used for three seasons and plan to switch to uncorded for convenience if this one dies. I have other Black and Decker devices and have never been disappointed. Update: Don't use when leaves are wet! Leaves were everywhere so I used the tool the other day; leaves were wet from rain. Mud kept clogging up the mulcher and vacuum, causing clogging. Wouldn't power on until I cleaned off the mud. I won't use again on wet leaves.

Switches failed 3 times
Update June 6, 2023: Just powered the unit up for the first time this summer to suck up some leaves and the unit quit working after about 15 minutes. You could say, this guy just got a lemon. However, the previous 2 returns the complete blower/sucker assembly was replaced. The switch design is just not good. I'm a ME and worked in the aerospace field designing products and this unit is just junk. B&D needs to revisit this design and get on board with a good switch vendor. Just one more thing... I'd be a little warry of the 4.2 Star rating on amazon. If you check fakespot the BV3600 gets a D rating. I would give it a D-. Update Dec 12, 2022: After getting a new leaf bag, I've had had to return this awful product the third time to B&D. The last 2 returns were still within the warranty period, but what a hassle. This product should have lasted at least 3 years minimum. The last 2 returns were for failed switches. I'm very disappointed with Black and Decker product quality. They used to (20-30 years ago) make good quality stuff. Update Jan 25, 2022: After contacting Black and Decker, they are sending a new bag for the leaf vacuum. Their customer service was courteous and supportive. Overall rating bumped up from 2 to 4 stars. Will update again if any further issues come up, but so far I'm pleased with the suction power and durability of the unit. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I've had a couple of these blower/vacuums in the past and have been satisfied with performance and durability. The first time is used this one, the leaf bag split at the seam and was blowing dust and debris out of the split seam. The bag is cheap and flimsy and appears to be made out of sheet material, unlike the last one which was heavy duty canvas material.

Very good tool.
I'm an 80 year old woman and I absolutely love this yard tool. It really sucks up leaves and mulches them. Even the big, wet maple leaves. Yes, my back gets a bit tired, but hey, I'm 80.

Works as intended, but may not be the best tool for the job
I like this mulcher pretty well. It is heavy, but the suction works well and it mulches finely. In terms of function, there are a few main issues. If it is your only mulcher, you will be limited in what you can mulch to exclusively leaves. It also generates a lot of dust if you are using the vacuum function over an area with loose dirt — definitely wear a mask. If you’re mulching a lot, you may get leaves stuck many times. I’m in the PNW, so at about the time leaves start falling, it also starts raining, and I doubt it is going to function well with wet leaves. Also, you need a large rigid trash can if you want to mulch into a vessel instead of the small bag it comes with. I would say this product performs just as intended, but the scope of its capabilities don’t quite line up with my needs.

Wish I'd bought it months ago.
I use this both to clear clippings from the sidewalks and driveway, as well as to clear leaves. For blowing debris, this is a great tool. It's very powerful, and even cleared grass clippings that had been rained on and then dried out and stuck to the concrete. Of course it's loud, but not uncomfortably so. My neighbors have very "twiggy" trees, and it cleared sticks as thick as my pinkie finger from the sidewalk with no effort. As a vacuum, it's fun, but a little nerve wracking. The impeller is plastic, and there were lots of small twigs mixed in with the pile of leaves. When it sucks them in, the twigs make an awful sound when they hit the blades, but it never slowed or stopped. I am a little concerned how it will stand up come time to clean up the back yard (we have two large pear trees) given the plastic blades, but it seems sturdy so far. Changing from blower to vacuum is a little cumbersome, but that's to be expected since 100% of the weight is in the orange seen in the photos. As long as you're switching over either on a table, bench, car trunk, etc, it's very manageable with no effort. I thought it would be kind of a pain since it's electric, but it's nice not having to worry about gas or oil. I wouldn't have the same comfort level with a lawnmower, but for this, it's perfect. I'm also looking forward to using this in the winter, since we get a lot of dry, dusty snowfalls. Using the blower will help prevent the resulting icy patches.
