Circulating Cold Water Therapy Ice Machine Gen 2 by Arctic Ice Clear – for Knee, Elbow, Shoulder, Back Pain, Swelling, Sprains, Injuries (Arctic Ice Clear) (with Universal Pad)

This machine was able to get cold and provide much needed pain relief for a knee replacement. Here is my review and comment on negative reviews. Contrary to other reviews, we had no problems with leakage or broken connectors. Yes, the light is a bit bright when you are trying to sleep (just put a towel over the display) and the beep at the end of the cycle is a little loud when you finally fall asleep, but the convenient super cold ice is definitely worth not having to get up to fill an ice pack every hour as another reviewer suggested. The machine was easy to use and got very cold. For easier use, we found that ice cubes melted too quickly in the machine and was a bit of work, so we froze two regular size plastic water bottles and 3 kid size water bottles (see photos). We kept a second set of water bottles in the freezer to swap out. This combination fit easily in the machine and kept the water cold throughout the night. The bottles were often still partially frozen in the morning. We would then swap the old bottles with the fresh frozen set in the morning which would then keep the water cold all day. The pad gets super cold; I usually had to use a lower setting. Troubleshooting: If it isn’t cold, check that the connections are fully clicked in, put the setting on maximum flow, and make sure that there isn’t a kink between the hose and the pad as there needs to be a clear path for the water to flow. I would sometimes take the pad off my knee, untwist the hoses, and look the clear side of the pad to see if the water/bubbles were flowing through the pad, then put the pad back on after I confirmed the water was able to freely flow. Note: the machine does NOT have to be level with the pad. I had kept the machine on the floor and it was easily able to pump cold water up to the height of the couch/bed. This machine is a workhorse - it was in near constant use the first couple weeks and a few times every day after that. It is still working great after a month and ready to use for the next surgery. Great product! I use this for my migraines. Ice therapy is the best for the pain. Purchase the back size pad separately and you’re ready to rock. Worth the $$

Two of two didn’t work. First one I ordered didn’t work out of the box. Amazon was kind enough to give me a refund even though I had it for a couple months, so it was past the return/refund date. Got the refund, ordered the same model and immediately checked it. Worked fine. Two weeks later after surgery, it wouldn’t work. Don’t buy this brand.

One of the most important things after total knee replacement is to ice continuously….even throughout the night. At least that’s what friends and doctors told me. There are lots of options, the easiest being ice packs. But when you live alone and are days out of the hospital getting back and forth grabbing an ice pack is not so easy. A friend recommended this model and I’m very happy I got it. I set it up in my bedroom, put frozen water bottles instead of ice. At night I’d wrap the pad on my leg before going to sleep. If I woke up in the middle of the night I’d push the start button and ice without having to get up. During the day I’d stretch out on my bed and ice periodically. I’m not sure I can credit the machine with my recovery but I’m barely two weeks out from surgery, pain free with using only Tylenol instead of opioids and walking with a normal gait without aid. (Shhhh….don’t tell my therapist). I’ve had no issues with leaking or proper functioning. If I had a suggestion for improvement, it would be to have an option to roll the machine from room to room. It’s a little difficult to move when you live by yourself.

Fill with water and ice. I did watch the you tube video just to be sure of instructions.You can set it for max of 90 mins .have it cycle slow or fast. I picked fast. The colder the better. Make sure the clasp are set . if not. It will not work. After your time ends it does ding. Really helped after my knee replacement. My husband did the filling and emptying as I couldn't. It was too heavy once filled. But there was a lot I needed help with so that isn't against this machine. I found it quiet and could sleep with it on. The dinging wasnt bad as I was awake usually an if not it would just turn it back on for another 90 minutes. The ice and water lasted those 2 full cycles then it was time to change over the water. It well let you know when its too warm. It really helped and I am glad I had it. Just make sure you have ice and someone to help you if you cant lift it. I do wish it had a continuous cycle so it wouldnt stop at 90 min. Other than that it worked well.

Pros and cons. Give 4 Stars as it works. Pro: works, doesn’t leak out of the box - like the fancy unit the dr. pushed me to buy the morning of the surgery and now I have to return the fancy leaking one. Very Quiet as well. Which is nice. Beware. Ordered this unit 2x and neither supported the delivery time they advertised. Need to add extra time and don’t wait for 48 hrs before surgery. Cons/Needs improvement: very bright led panel. The panel beeps every :30 of the :90 max cycle. (Hard to sleep with bright and loud). Another improvement need, the water base is just plastic, no thermal property. So the ice melts very quickly and base gets very ‘sweaty’. Need a towel to sit on. Work around fix, freeze water bottles and swap them every few hours to save on using 10 bags of ice a day and having to empty the water ~ especially if you are down to one leg. Also need to see if they offer a longer hose or longer power cord, possible I missed. But, I had to run an extension power and also prop the unit on a cooler to help get it closer to my knee due to the exchange tube length.

I had elbow surgery, and this was the greatest thing in the world- I would recommend buying this to everyone

I ordered this 8/12 for a knee replacement revision scheduled 8/18. This was the 3rd ice machine I've purchased (all different brands) - I wore out the first one after TKR surgery last year, still have the second one but was concerned it was almost worn out. Yes, there's a piece of paper that says to "test fit and function" - but I knew it would fit, and didn't realize I would need to do "quality control" on a product I've already paid for. Didn't try to use it until I got home from the revision surgery. Unfortunately - the water line wouldn't stay connected to the lid - if the line got jostled much, it would disconnect - so I set this machine aside and used my old one (WHICH STILL WORKS GREAT, BY THE WAY!!). Now that I'm finally far enough into my recovery that I'm resuming household chores and such, I tried to return it a couple of days ago (9/12). Much to my dismay, the app said I was out of the 30 day window. IF that was true, it had to have been a matter of HOURS.... Since I couldn't return it, decided I'd try to use it anyways and just be careful with the water lines that go to the pad. As I was hooking it up, the rubber covering for the line that actually had a tight connection came off the plastic connector piece!!! So basically - I'm out $186 with a piece of crap that I absolutely cannot use without risking leaks in at least two places. TERRIBLE!!!

Fue rápido el envío y el trato muy amable, pero yo esperaba otra cosa en cuanto a la calidad de ciertas partes del aparato, que si deja mucho que desear.
