KidKraft Painted Wood Medium Storage Locker on Wheels with Two Compartments - Red, Gift for Ages 3+

This is a cute storage unit for a child's bedroom. It is made of real wood, and once put together, is an attractive piece of furniture. The one thing I have a doubt about is the wheels. I'm not really sure why this product HAS wheels, because it isn't really a storage cart that one would wheel around a work room. The wheels also seemed loose to me; I don't know if this was a problem with my assembly of the product or if that's how they were supposed to be. In any case, we're using the locker as a nightstand for my 4 year old, so it doesn't need to move around much. Assembly went smoothly: all of the pieces are labeled clearly, and the labels match the visual instructions. Note that there are no words describing what to do, but I found that the pictures were clear enough that one didn't need words. I was able to assemble it myself, too; no need for a second pair of hands. All of the pieces lined up as they were supposed to and there were no problems with screw holes in the wrong place, etc., so compared to some other pieces of kids' furniture we've assembled, this one is a low-frustration piece.

This is an opinion and not a review. I don't have time to compare and research other similar products. Saying that - I really like this product. It was easy to put together. It matched my child's red 'cars' theme. It is perfect for a night stand and holds a red LED clock. Though it is made in china and all, it seems pretty good quality. Real metal handles - not plastic. It has a strong plastic smell - but it is wearing off. It comes with polystyrene blocks as packaging. My child crumbled these up to make snow (it was Christmas day). It looked like fun at first and I told him to keep it on the box. Then the 'snow' took over the living room. It took hours to get rid of it. Still finding 'snow' around the house two weeks later. Maybe you won't have the same issue, but I was trying to get my 5 year old to help make it and all - and he ended up doing that... Anyhow - it's just what I expected as a KidKraft product. Not disappointed at all. Nothing bad to say - so 5 stars it is.

Good enough and looks good in my kid’s colorful room. Put together easy enough and comes with everything you need except the Philips screw driver. Seems sturdy and solid enough and doors swing opened and close easily with little hardware to fail. My only con is the paint job is a little soft and I think will show scratches over time pretty easily. Easy enough to fix with some fire engine red touch up paint though. I recommend for a kid’s room.

This locker is brightly colored and functions well as a nightstand or side table in a kids' room. However, it has some design flaws that make it less than ideal. (1) The locker comes with a strap to anchor it to the wall. (I question whether this is necessary given the size of this piece, although I am generally in favor of such safety features.) However, the strap attaches to the flat top surface top of the locker with an uncovered silver screw and washer. While the strap itself is underneath the top, the screw and washer are quite visible and make it look like an unfinished afterthought. In fact, it looks so strange that I read and reread the instructions to make sure I was doing it correctly. I concluded that it is just a flawed design. (2) The locker comes with wheels in addition to the strap to anchor it to the wall. Those two features are not compatible. If you want it to be movable, you cannot anchor it to the wall. In addition, after looking closely, the 3 images of this locker on Amazon are not all the same. The wheel placement is different, as is the component that stops the doors from swinging inward when the door is closed. The version I received has wheels that install on the outer edges of the bottom. The picture shows them installed further towards the middle. The version I received has a white plastic stopper that keeps the doors from swinging in, but it is not magnetic or metal as it appears in the first image. Despite these issues, I was pleased with KidKraft's customer service. One of the side panels of the locker arrived damaged. I called KidKraft and left a message, which was promptly returned. The company sent me a replacement panel very quickly and were very pleasant to deal with. I have bought and assembled other KidKraft items before, and this one did not go together as easily as I expected. Assembly was tricky because the holes did not line up exactly, so it took some maneuvering to get it together. I eventually got it assembled and into my son's room. He started filling it with books right away. It is a happy and bright piece, and will serve its purpose. However, I am not sure that it was worth the price given all of the downsides discussed above.

this took longer than expected to assemble - about an hour and a half - and i decided against using the wheels as it was meant for a nightstand for my son. it’s taller than i anticipated but i’m really pleased with the end result. color is accurate, feels pretty solid. my only complaint is my assembly kit was clearly used — it was taped closed and torn, but it didn’t affect the build process much, just made it a little more frustrating trying to get screws out of the package. i purchased a new product btw so that’s why i was frustrated by the resold and used screw kit.

We decorated our newborn son's room in a sports theme. This locker is a neat piece that compliments the decor and adds some color. It is very functional, with two decent cabinets for storage. The quality is nice for the price. The wood and paint seem durable, and the predrilled holes were all as they should be. My only minor complaint was with the plastic latch of the cabinets, as opposed to say a magnetic or metal latch. I think it will stand up to adult use, but the durability for a child remains to be seen. KidKraft seems to make decent, affordable children's furniture (we also have a bookcase made by them) that is attractive.

Really cute; looks good; nice nightstand; perfect size. I bought this nightstand for my 5 YO son. He really likes to put things in it, and call it his own:). So far very durable- had for about 2 months or so. Nice color- true red. Works well with his train theme and will continue with whatever theme we go to next. Easy to put together- I did it by myself. Had to only switch the doors since I put them on upside down, and they didn't line up with the plastic clip that keeps them closed. Great price and free shipping too.

Good quality and relatively easy to assemble, even if parts require some muscle. Mostly just patience. Following the other reviews, we took our time laying out the pieces to make sure we had everything sticker side down, etc. It's sturdy, bright pop of red, holds 6 pairs of little kid shoes & boots plus mittens, a couple sweaters & hats. It does roll a bit on bare wood but hasn't been a problem. Doors open & close smoothly. I think this will last. (We paired this with a cute coat tree stool to organize our child's outerwear. Definitely more attractive & space-saving than lining up the shoes & throwing the mittens/hats in a basket.)
