This is a bit lengthy for a daily devotional and feels more like a short word study. I’m planning to start reading it again with my husband, but more as a weekly study instead of a daily one. It’s so full of wisdom and powerful insight that I think taking an entire week to meditate on each day’s reading would be much more meaningful. Rick Renner is an excellent teacher, and his depth of knowledge really comes through in this study. And if you want to learn and do a deep study, this is a great way to do so!

I love this study book. I first bought this book back in 2007 after Rick Renner spoke at our church. I have used it regularly all of these years as one of my study helps in my Bible studies, and in preparing lessons for my classes. I have found it to be very informative and interesting. I have learned much from this book. This book is set up as a devotional style, one lesson for each day of the year. The format of each lesson is that Rick takes a scripture (which is printed at the beginning of each lesson), and he explains what the full meaning of that scripture is by giving the original Greek words and their meanings. It is written in an easy to understand way, and is very interesting. It's not just a dry teaching of a bunch of Greek words and their meanings. He uses examples from his own life as well to get the message across. In the back of the book they give lists you can follow. There is a list of the Greek words studied with the English word in parentheses, along with the page number where that word is found, for if you want to do a Greek word study There is a list of the English words with the Greek word in parentheses to make it easier to find what you are looking for. There is also a list of scriptures that he uses in the studies along with their page numbers, for if you want to do a study on a particular scripture (this is generally how I use the book). I have given this book as gifts to several friends and pastors and teachers, and they have all loved this book. Although Rick Renner is very scholarly in his knowledge of the Greek language and of the Bible, this book is very easy to understand for the average person. I have read several of Rick's books and he has spoken at our church several times over the past years, and I have enjoyed each book. I especially like his book titled "Dressed to Kill", which is a study on the Armor of God. It also is very interesting and very informative. One thing you will discover when reading Rick's other books is that, because he is so knowledgeable about the Greek language of the Bible, is that he will explain the original Greek meanings of scriptures that he refers to in his books. I find this to be very helpful and interesting.

This is an awesome devotional book. I highly recommend it!! It helps you to understand the gems that are hitting in the Greek that brings a life the scriptures for understanding and how to apply them. Also it gives you thought provoking questions to help you apply what you read and it has a confession to help you to promote that into your life.

This author was definitely led by the Holy Spirit when writing this book! I have grown more in the Lord by reading this daily. I try to buy one every month to give away. It is definitely the very top of my “Help me Jesus” books. Amazing!

I have read the “One Year Bible” for years for my personal devotions and quite time. Even with a Full-Time ministers schedule this can be a lot to read each day. Heaven forbid you miss a day then you have up to 10 chapters to read. I digress… Another words just because I was reading a lot of scripture a day doesn’t mean I was getting quality time with God. So I switched up with Rick’s book “Sparkling Gems from the Greek.” This Devo book is good read with a daily prayer and a confession. It is meat each day and it is great to tap into the GK without feeling overwhelmed. It’s a must… $10 kindle purchase?? No brianer

Rick Renner did not disappoint with this valuable resource! It's way more than a daily devotional, it's daily ministry! For each day of the year there is teaching on a specific scripture, with a Greek word or phrase explained for clarity, followed by Rick's encouragement on how to live it out loud. Then it includes a prayer and a positive affirmation/confession, and 3 application questions for each daily entry. I can't say enough good about Renner Ministries and his books! They truly are gifts to Believers in Christ! Update: I bought a second book like this for our close friends to study together. I can't wait to give it to them!

My husband and I love this book! It’s an easy way to get into the word and it breaks down the lesson so well.

I have wanted to get to know the original Hebrew and Greek texts of the Bible for a while as I had a desire to know what the Bible REALLY says. This text does not disappoint. It is full of mini teachings from the New Testament that go into the original Greek text and shows what the Bible was saying when it was written. It is fabulous. At the front of the text it gives the title of every single mini teaching in the book and the page reference, so if you wanted to look at it by topic instead of date then you could. At the back it gives all of the English - Greek word translations and it also lists every scripture referenced in the New Testament and what page number that discussion is on. It is not just a daily devotional it is an incredibly useful tool and reference book to use when you are looking at something and you would like to know the original Greek. It is amazing. The quality of the book is amazing, the picture on the front cover is beautiful. It is a huge hard-back book and it is worth every penny of what you spend on it. It is something I will prize and look after and use for the rest of my life and when you think about it like that you realise it is not that expensive either. I will definitely be buying Volume 2 when I have used this for a year. Rick Renner is an amazing teacher, pastor and historian. His translations are so accurate and so on the ball that I truly think he should write his own translation of the whole New Testament. I think it would fly off the shelves! If you want to know what the BIble originally said when it was written, then buy this book!

Alles Männer, die die kompromisslose und lebensnahe Nachfolge Jesus gelebt haben. Hier finden Sie absolut saubere und tiefgründige Bibelauslegung. Dabei wird täglich ein oder mehrere griechische Begriffe und Wortstämme genommen, und die genaue Bedeutung eines Verses gezeigt. Dazu kommen auch geschichtliche Hintergründe. Gerade die moderne christliche Literatur ist oft so verwaschen - dieses Buch definitiv nicht. Hier steht vor allem die persönliche Nachfolge Jesus im Mittelpunkt. Keine pseudo-intellektuelle Wischi-Waschi-Bibelauslegung. Die Bibel bestätigt sich in der Auslegung immer selber, und das ist auch hier immer im Kern mit dabei. Hatte schon überlegt mir etwas griechisch und hebräisch beizubringen, um noch besser die Bibel lesen und verstehen zu können. Das kann ich mir jetzt ersparen. Dieses Buch ist keine Eintagsfliege. Das Problem der Christen heute ist, das die Ihre Bibel nicht kennen, selbstgerecht urteilen und verurteilen, aber selber nicht kompromisslos Jesus nachfolgen. Dieses Buch ist eine absolute Empfehlung für jeden der im Glauben an Jesus wachsen will. Und zudem auch sehr spannend geschrieben. Hoffe ein deutscher Verlag bringt dieses Buch bald heraus.

Thoughtful

Used Sparkling Gems for a number of years and absolutely love it. It is one of the more deeper devotionals and written in a way, with the Greek [ which I don't care for the most but is needful ] so we get into the meat of The Word which is so essential in order for us to come into maturity in Christ Jesus.
