I ordered this clear acrylic sheet to make a new, unscratched version of an Alberti's window or veil. This is a gridded, see-through tool that is used to capture proper angles and perspective when drawing or painting. While I had purchased my original Albertian Window from an art supply house many years ago, I decided to just use a medium-point black Sharpie on a plain piece of plexiglass for this do-it-yourself version. The quality of this acrylic sheet is very nice. When you receive it, both sides are covered with a thin, protective vinyl film that easily peels off. This keeps the plexiglass surface from getting scratched until you're ready to use it. My sheet of plexiglass was a smidgen over 1/4-inch thick and was not a full 12-inch square. It measures 11-7/8 inches on each side. The fact that it is not a full 12 inches was not an problem for my purposes; but I thought I would mention it in case someone is building a display case and needs an exact measure.

Exactly what I needed.

I bought 2 24x48 1/4 sheets. When the items arrived,Ii noticed 1 of them almost slid out of the box, then noticed the bottom corner was cracked. The crack extended 4-5 inches inward. Fortunately It fell within my cut zone so I was able to use them still. Also, these are not 1/4 inch thick. Just a bit under. One was slightly thicker than the other so they arent exactly the same. Really baffled that these are so off, and upset that these weren't the right size. They are also not acrylic. Not sure what they are, but they do look good. All in all. Once I got them cut, and put into place they do the job they are supposed to and look good. Pretty sturdy, but really needed them to be 1/4. If you dont need it to be exact then buy it. If you do need them to be precise, find the plexi else where.

Clear as a window

I used this to make a window insert for a portable AC unit’s exhaust hoses. Looks much better than a piece of wood and I can still see outside! Warning, if you intend to drill holes in it, you’re probably better off removing the protective plastic film first, as it has a tendency to stick to the drill bit and then splinter the material around the hole. Also, the edges can be sharp, but some light sanding fixes that. Overall good material.

Good plexiglass, better temp strength than some others that are available. The paper covering was a bugger to remove.
