Does the one with the phone holder hold a plus size phone with a case on it?

I have iPhone XR and it didn’t fit with case on which was disappointing. I think most phones are much larger these days so unlikely it will fit yours.

Does the tray area get slippery when condensation from a drink gets on it?

Hasn't been an issue for us. The tray material is a soft non-skid type, and I routinely have cold soda cans on them without a problem.

What is the material on the top?

It’s a black rubber material. In order to preserve it, I placed a piece of foil over it. I love it!!

are the sides weighted or just the same bamboo material for every segment?

Both sides are of equal length and have some weight to them. I've had absolutely no issues with shifting or having tray slide off the arm. The arm of my sofa is flat on the top though and several inches wide.
