Minimalist ideal
It's a great little device, but for me, the battery life is not as good as I would like. It does what it needs to do, and you have to charge it at least once daily.

UPDATE: Bricked! WAS: Beautiful, tiny, minimalist expression of Android
UPDATE: As of 9/2/21, these phones no longer work on the US AT&T network, so the device is largely useless at this point (the companion idea is terrible....why would I carry around a small phone when I still have to carry around my big phone?). I can't really rate the phone anything other than "Don't Buy" at this point. Narrower than a credit card, and a little longer. This is the phone for people who hate smartphones. It has a tiny, very pretty screen, has a pretty straightforward setup, and looks really, really good. The only dings I have one this phone are its anemic battery life (it drains pretty quickly when you're using it, but also charges very fast) and lack of labels on the home screen (I was working on a PDA with a nearly identical UI but abandoned it when I found this phone...but mine had the option to turn on icon labels). No biggie, thought. Really nice, slick phone - a minimalist phone while still having basic Android features. This what I envision Steve Jobs as signing off on if he hadn't died post-iPhone 4 (well, a bit more rounded) UPDATE: One caveat - there are some major annoyances (Android stuff). First, the autocorrect when you type is atrocious - it constantly CONSTANTLY changes text to what it thinks you mean without asking. I HATE HATE HATE that. Secondly, the stupid messaging feature "Smart Reply"...on a phone this small it should be disabled by default. I screwed up a convo with my brother and wound up double ordering a $150 item because the damn phone sent "Yes, please!" instead of my message of "No, I'm good. I already got it." Same problem with the sleep screen - sometimes swiping up to the home page will inadvertently activate the camera. This is why I hate smartphones (even this minimalize one) - they try to cram too many conveniences into a small space, and they all start to step on each others' screen space.

Almost ideal companion device
I purchased the Palm Phone in 2023, knowing full well it was based on a 5 year old design and reading the reviews that the battery life was pretty bad. I got the Palm to use as a secondary phone when I needed just the basics, wanted to travel light or didn't want to take my nice, big phone out for a workout. The Palm meets all these requirements for me. On top of that, it is a pleasant looking device. It will not set the design world on fire, but it is simple and clean. I can use the Palm as a bike computer, Spotify device and basic communication device with T-Mobile Digits. Again, the battery is pretty bad. Get the Mophie battery case, Not only does it help with grip and tactile feel of the phone, it doubles the battery life. Now, my biggest complaint is not with the phone, but with the Palm company. No updates to Android. The Palm Phone is running Android 8. If the company would send out an update for 9, features like Digital Well Being and Do Not Disturb would be really useful on a device designed to get you to use your phone less. And, no security updates since 4/1/2021.

Impressive in a very small package
This Palm phone is an impressive device. The build quality seems excellent. It looks good and feels nice in the hand. (Had to get a case as it is slippery.) The screen is sharp and clear and very responsive to touch. I've gotten used to using a much larger iPhone XR, but this only took a little effort getting used to the touch points on the smaller screen. As far as reading content, it is very good. I was expecting it to be a bit difficult, but it hasn't been an issue. The resolution is excellent. I haven't done a lot of internet surfing. I would imagine it's okay but not sure I would be on it for long periods. Call quality and sound is excellent as well. Battery life is okay; it lasts most of the day, so I charge it daily. I haven't used a lot of apps, but app use also seems pretty solid. Again, not sure I would be on it for very long periods of time. (Time will tell.) I absolutely love the compact size of this phone. I throw it in my pocket and hardly know it's there. I would recommend this for someone that doesn't want to carry a big phone around, but still wants a fully functional smartphone. I'm impressed.

Purchased by an iPhone user
iPhone popped out of my bag while biking and the screen shattered dramatically so I was looking for a (temporary) replacement with a small form factor so purchased the Palm Phone. Wanted to try using it as a stand alone rather than tying it to my Verizon shattered iPhone. These are my first impressions. Good โ 1. Love the size. 2. Tough figuring out Android vs iOS but not too bad. 3. Everything carries over from Google account so setup is easy. Not So Great โ 1. As everyone say, the battery life is abysmal; roughly three hours just on standby so always have a battery pack on hand, which somewhat negates the size advantage. 2. There doesnโt seem to be a way to control the volume on phone calls; while you can control ringer, etc volume, there doesnโt appear to be a way to change the actual volume of the call. 3. I bought the unlocked version but it didnโt come with a SIM card as listed on the Palm site so I had to use my Verizon SIM card and couldnโt set up a separate Palm number and account. 4. The SIM card drawer wouldnโt open by pushing the provided pin in but instead I had to kinda pry it out rather than it popping; pushing the pin in felt like I was just pushing against a solid piece of metal with no give or budge. 5. A lot of bloatware for a phone that is supposed to be small form factor and not a surfing time suck. Iโll still keep the phone as it has its usesโgreat for popping in the jersey while bikingโbut will have another smallish phone or iPad Mini around for general use. Really want to like it and it shows potential but company really needs to figure out its target market and their reason for making the purchase.

Comes with problems from the get-go.
Seller mentioned that phone would not be in its original box but assured me it would be new. Phone looks new but the lack of sim tray pin tool made it a nightmare for me and the T-mobile staff to get it open in the store and ended up damaging the sim tray pinhole slightly. Main problem with this phone is that when you make a call the phone dies. It apparently is an issue regarding this phone and no solution without having to invest days of intensive research of jailbreaking, flashing, restoring etc... the battery doesn't last more than 6-8 hours without use, and 2-3 hours using it. Receive a call? expect the phone to die somewhere between the call. I wish I would not have damaged the sim tray because I feel horrible to request a refund. Now I feel im stuck with someone else's problem. Maybe why didn't come in the original box in the first place. Also came with an Alcatel charger (phone is a PALM Phone from Verizon from the company PALM Ventures, not Alcatel. hope this review helps anyone.

Minimalist phone that is not just a companion
Palm is advertised as a companion secondary phone. When I decided to make the purchase I was a little worried about its compatibility with my main phone which is an iPhone. To my surprise just by installing T-mobile Digits on my Palm I was able to synchronize two phones seamlessly. Now I am able to receive txt msgs and calls on either phone. Back to first impressions about Palm. Sleek minimalist design, extremely light weight and feels great holding in hand. Decent display and camera performance. I have not been an Android user so there are still a lot things I need to get comfortable with. Considering the main things I use a phone for: txting, music streaming and Youtube, I can easily do these now on my Palm without having to carry an iPhone which weighs down my pocket. I can totally see the Palm as a great companion for working out in the gym. Next time when I go snowboarding I can finally put my iPhone in my backpack while carrying my Palm to listen to music and receive calls.

Gorgeous little phone
I love my Palm. It's beautifully designed, and the screen quality is fantastic. It fits easily in my female-sized (i.e. tiny) pockets--even in a small wallet. It runs all the apps I want it to run and works quickly. The interface looks great and is intuitive. I love taking it on hikes and runs and anywhere I don't want to carry a purse, which is most places. The camera quality is better than expected. I unlock it with face recognition, which works every time. I have not yet tried life mode -- I'm a mom and need to be reachable by my kids -- but I love the concept and hope to use it in the future.
