Animal Planet PETS 101 Programmable Electronic Pet Feeder

I bought one from my local CVS for about the same price in February. We were going away for 5 days. We put out extra water and 2 litter boxes for her and set this up even though my parents were going to check in on our kitty. This way they did not have to worry about what time them would come. However, they were unable to come as often as planned due to a family emergency. It was a great relief not worrying that our kitty was cared for even though no one was home. We could see a dog knocking it over easily. A large open animal would be able to open it or knocking it over. Don't know if it's just our cat, but she never tries to knock it over. The jar and the top are plastic, but the machine does the job. We have since been running it since February (it is now August) once a day and still on the same battery. I did recommend it to a friend who is trying it out this weekend. 9/14/13 update>> we still have not problems, and by our assessment it still deserves 5 stars, but..... My friend initially fell into the category of the other negative reviews. Boy did I feel bad, after all, I recommended it! She got it and it worked one day. She contacted the manufacturer who stated it would feed up to 9 times in one day (?) That did not make sense. So she returned it...incredibly easy return by the way, money back and easy return at the local ups store, no questions asked. She picked it up at the local Bed Bath and Beyond since she will be traveling soon and wanted to test it. $23.99 after coupon, and is very pleased, working well. We've been very satisfied, and based on our personal experience, it still deserves 5 stars. Since February still going strong. We went away for 10 days and had a neighbor just check in on kitty daily to make sure litter box was clean and had food and water (I admit the negative reviews cast some doubt), but there were no issues with the feeder. After the problems my friend had, now that she has a working one, she is just as pleased. Be warned you may need to return the item based on all the negative reviews (which was easier than we thought, just watch the deadline for returns). Perhaps it's best to buy this in person if you can find it, that way you can test it and return if needed based on all the negative reviews I've seen. Bottom line, I would buy again, but not sure if I would mail order it, and would definitely test it for a bit before leaving the cat alone with it. I would still go away for a few days without worrying, as mine has not failed me. Will update if my friend has any issues after her trip.

Bought 2, one for each dog. Both feeders clocks lost 15-20 minutes a day. They also would not dispense food consistently. I returned them at a cost of $30.00. Received the 2 replacements and they don't work either. Since now I am into these things for $40.00 each, it doesn't make sense to send them back ($30.00 more bucks). So I'm stuck eating the $80.00. What ever you do, don't waste you money on these things, If you still want one bad enough after reading this review, let me know, I'll send you mine!!!

Had some issues with the product but the company worked with me and I am totally satisfied. I have bought quite a few animal planet brand items this one just had a few quirks.

This worked well for the first day then the time clock started falling behind 10 minutes every 12 hours. I tried to research to buy the ac adaptor but couldn't find it anywhere. I now go and push the button to drop the food when it's time to feed the dog. Ummm not really doing what it's suppose to do, right?

I ordered two of these and when I received them, the timers were always off. They were never the same time. One of the feeders would not dispense. So, I requested to have another one sent. The third one came and that one was even worse. The clock would not work and it would not dispense. DO NOT BUY THIS PRDUCT!!!!!!!!!

this kept my 2 cats well fed for an entire week while i got married. i had a friend check on the boys everyday and he never had to give food.

Got this for a relative. Does exactly what I want it to do, except it isn't raccoon proof. Too bad.

Changed the batteries twice but the clock absolutely will not keep time. I set two feedings twelve hours apart and my poor cat was ready to leave home when the second serving occured 20 hours after the first and the third didn't occur until a day later. Heed all the other bad reviews and do not buy this item. It is a waste of time and money.
