Our daughter loves rocks. Reading this book to her made her curious to examine her rocks and compare it to the nice charts provided at the end of the book. The illustration were bright and beautiful. I liked this book! I was choosing between this book and another for a Kindergarten rock lesson and ultimately chose this book! It’s easy for the littles to understand and uses great terms for characteristics of rocks.

Excellent books for kids!
This book is great for kids who are serious about learning what rocks are made of and analyzing them. I searched everywhere for one that explained the Mohs scale of hardness and minerals. This is the only one I found for a 10 year old. I highly recommend it!

For a young rock hound you may know...
My Grandmother and cousin share a bond that spans the globe. Oregon to Western Australia. They send each other rocks from places they have been. I helped my Grandmother find this book to send to her darling great granddaughter. It had just the mix of science, appropriate illustrations and inspiring adventurism that we were looking for. Really cute approach to introducing children to Rocks!
I've searched through many K through 3 grade books that introduce rock formation to children. This by far is the best book. Younger children will need to have this book read to them, but the explanations are simple and easy to understand. Experienced readers will be able to read this independently and understand the concepts that are introduced. Give this book and some rocks to any kid. They are sure to be excited!

Super Book for Beginning Geologists!
I'm a former teacher who wanted a simple, clear book for my grandson and granddaughter. They are really into rocks right now and this book had great illustrations and easy to understand explanations. The kids are 7 and 9.
