While traveling through Canada in 1678, a French priest came across the most gigantic waterfalls he'd ever seen. Stricken with both awe and fear, he began to shake, fell to his knees, and prayed. Ever since, people from all over the world have come to explore Niagara: among them the daredevils determined to tumble down or walk across the falls on tightrope. Kids will get a kick reading about the hare-brained stunts and will also learn how the falls were formed and how--one day--they will disappear. Review: Educational for young & old. - Bought this as a gift for my son. We were head to Niagara to see eclipse. Itโs a fast read with some very interesting factoids for both young & old. Highly recommend. Review: Upcoming summer vacation - Taking my grandkids to Niagra Falls in June and thought it would be fun to have a little history of it. I read the book over my morning coffee and thoroughly enjoyed it. Easy to read, interesting and now when we're visiting, we'll have a better understanding of it....

Great Non-fiction Read
Great biography series that all kids will enjoy. My students (4th grade) can't seem to put them down. I've had them in my room for the last few years and they just eat them up. The content is easy to understand and it provides great information on each person/topic along with a timeline in the back. Great for parents and teachers alike.

If you want to know the history of Niagara Falls this is a great start!
This little book covered about everything one could want to know about Niagara Falls. It's written for intermediate (grade 4 or 5) to middle school level kids (grades 6 to 8). I buy it for my granddaughter entering fourth grade but, naturally, I read it first. A fun read.

Good Niagra Falls Book
Occasionally I would read what my son is reading so I can monitor what his reading level is or just to learn something. Upon his very high recommendation, I read this book. Wow! He was right! This is a really good book. It begins with how Niagra Falls was formed, discovery by Native Americans, and then later by curious explorers. As it became a tourist attraction, more people came as well as daredevils who tried to thrill visitors. Harnessing the water's energy by George Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla was also discussed. There are some really good, detailed pencil drawings and nice color photographs and timeline at the end. The text is written at a Grade 3 and above level. My son said it was easy to understand. After I read it, we talked about it, and decided we both learned a lot.

The book was very pleasing. It gave a lot of information in the book that was very interesting. It gives the children facts about Niagara falls and the people that experienced it. What a great book.

Awesome book
My granddaughter LOVES learning about people who went down Niagra Falls in barrels and other contraptions, so she loved this because there was a whole section about daredevils and stuff like that.
