I hesitated buying a "manual" meat cutter, yet at the same time I did not want to buy an expensive and overly heavy electric meat slicer just to make homemade beef jerky from fresh cuts of beef. Even then, I decided to take a chance on this manual meat chopper, and boy am I glad I did. As instructed, I cut and froze the meat (it has to be fully frozen to slice it properly), set up the chopper, adjusted the depth of the cut, and easily sliced it away. Boy, did this chopper/cutter make it easy. Using a soft-bristle bottle brush to scrub out the nooks and crannies while rinsing it in our kitchen sink made the cleanup effortless. I am truly delighted with how well-designed this model is. The blade was VERY sharp (so be careful, folks; don't run a finger over it to test it—use something else like a piece of paper if you want to verify how sharp it is). It was easy to set the "depth" of the cut, and it was easy to slice through the frozen beef pieces, allowing me to create perfect cuts for beef jerky.

I can't speak to cutting food with bones. But if you're getting this to make meat chips, you WILL be thrilled with it. HIGH quality. Wide base to cut a massive frozen prime rib roast. First i ordered an affordable deli slicer. JUNK. Then I ordered one of the cheaper frozen manual meat cutters.... JUNK. But this??!? NIIIIICE. No stupid suction cups at the bottom. Just nice rubber feet that grip the counter. DOUBLE blade. I cut my finger twice just looking at it. it's SHARP. But that's what you want, isn't it? Clean up was really quite easy. Stainless steel all around. Etched cm measurement on base. Handle is solid. The whole unit is solid. Total restaurant quality. It cut through a solid block of beef like butter. Thickness guard is perfect. You can "dial in" any thickness. Thin, thin, thin. I cut some of my meat chips so thin that you can see through them. Please take my advice. Do not get a 60 dollar version of one of these. You will just return it. it's thin gauge, wobbly, light. Small base. No brackets to hold the meat in place, etc... And unless you're going to buy a $350 dollar, 38lb professional grade deli slicer, that's going to take up 1/2 your counter space.... you'll be disappointed in anything less. This is not hard to use. It's well made and makes consistent cuts. And please get a couple sets of food grade ANSI cut resistant gloves. One set for cutting your food. And one set for when it's time to clean it.

I use the chopper to cut chicken. Its easy to clean, easy to use, works well. the size is also perfect. its a bit heavy for me but can be managed.
