5 for its niche use
I'm giving this a five because it's a quality product that does what it is expected to do very well. I actually think it would have been better with a chuck because quick-lock drill bits are not as common as quick-lock drivers, and I would only use this device (over my other Bosch drill and drivers) when I need it for its ability to fit into tight areas. And when I need that ability, I often need to both drill and then drive. A chuck probably would've added length, however. This makes fantastic company for the 12vMax drill/impact driver set, FYI. And if you get the drill/impact driver/light set (or similar) with two batteries, the two batteries with this give you a battery for each device. Also, you can have one charger in your shop and one in the bag for the road. I find the torque switch does function right. It doesn't noticably reduce speed, which is probably what some people are expecting, but you'll see it works if you try to drill in wood or tighten down a fastener. You can reduce speed by pressing the switch lighter. I like this line of tools for my daily drilling/driving needs, but I'd start with the drill/impact driver set; those are also very small and will fit in tight spaces. Then you just need a big corded hammer drill and this to handle anything that needs crazy power or to fit in a tiny space, respectively.

Great quality tool.
I purchased the Bosch 12 volt driver almost 4 years ago.(4/11) I have used it on job sites as a carpenter and its followed me into the Maintenance field without a single hiccup from the unit. It has a tremendous amount of torque for its size and really helps me cut the weight I have to carry from job to job as opposed to a screw gun box. I have used it in places no screw gun will fit and the battery life has never been any issue at all. (I still use the originals) My "only" frustration with it was about 6 months after the purchase the carrying bag ripped at the handle. I contacted Bosch and they promptly replaced it with the wrong bag,, twice. I gave one away and I use one of the bags for my chisels so I just live with the torn handle. ALL In ALL a very solid tool but it might be a little over kill for the average homeowner needing to twist screws on the weekend due to the torque and the speed (not very adjustable).

Need help in confined spaces?
I purchased this item as a Christmas gift for myself. With a very young todler in the house two or three days a week I needed a drill that would help me get into narrow spaces to attached child proof latches. The drill worked very well. Everything about the drill is great with one minor exception...that being that the type of chuck used to attach bits has a little extra room, and as a result bits wobble a bit, and sometimes you have to use another hand to align the bit with the screw. Overall, very happy with this handly drill. The case, rapid charger and two batteries make this a great little drill/driver.

shaves weight off the tool belt
I'm a professional SAT TV installer and I use this tool everyday for driving/screwing applications. I bought it so I could stop carrying my 18V drill on my tool bet all day, here's my review after 3 months The GOOD: It's powerfull enough to handle most driving applications and even some light drilling with an adapter, it has allowed me to reduce the amount of time I carry my full size drill by about 70%, my knees are thanking me it. Roughly half the weight of my 18V drill (RIDGID X3) The 5 position head is versatile and make a lot of tasks easier or at least more comfortable. The batteries last a long time and charge quickly. Quick change chuck upside is it allows for very fast and simple bit change, using it with a set of magnetic nutdrivers saves a lot of time and effort! The BAD: Quick change chuck downside is that the bits have some play in the chuck, althougth they cant fall out, they are not not held firmly in the tool The play in the chuck makes drilling unstable and imprecise, it cannot remplace a drill at all for making holes bigger than 1/4inch. The driver only starts turning after you have pressed through the first 1/4inch of travel of the trigger, which makes using the variable speed a bit akward at first and requires some getting used to, but it's quite precise once you get the hang of it. You may strip out screw holes EASILY if you try to learn this while driving screws in soft materials like cabinets. The useless hanging pin keeps getting in the way, I removed it on the second day. thankfully it is not permenantly attached to the tool Overall I accomplished my goal of reducing the weight of my tool belt, this tool is not perfect but still VERY, VERY usefull.

Bosch impact driver
This product will make you start buying Bosch products. I purchase this to get into some tight spots along with the Milwaukee right angle drill. Works great for what is was design for. I bought a Bosch 36v hammer drill last year and it burned up along with 2 others giving a total 3 hammer drills that were bad. I said I would never buy another Bosch product again, until I saw this and read the reviews. I decided to give Bosch another chance. I am glad I did These 12v Bosch products are well worth it. Well put together and heavy duty and the same time. This 12v line are worth every dollar. Plus check out the rebate on this item. You can not go wrong with the price and quality on this drill. Highly recommend this drill and Bosch 12v line not the 36v tools.

Okay...
Its a bit bigger than I thought, but not bad. It looks like a very solid and durable unit, except for the weird little hook at the bottom that wont stay put. The head is metal and locks securely into position, but has a little play in it. The trigger is very easy to control and it feels good in my hand (big hands.) The main issue is with the locking hex collet. It holds attachments securely enough, but theres about an eighth inch of play pulling in and out, and a little bit of circular wiggle. I tried various brands, milwaukee, ryobi, and the two screw bits that came with it, so I guess thats just how it is. Time will tell if its a significant issue -update- Used this for the first time today, and after a few hours, smoke started coming out of it and that old familiar smell wafted through the air... burnt up. Interestingly, the battery was still fully charged. Im a mechanic on a drilling rig, and the environment out here is a lot more demanding than anywhere else, so I wasnt terribly surprised, little disappointed though. I guess Ill see how good their customer service is, but if I get a new one it will be strictly for light work. Like tickling babies or filling balloons.

Great battery powered driver!
Seriously this thing is awesome. I've been using it for "assembly required" stuff like furniture, grills, etc. and it has done an amazing job of speeding up my workflow. I thought it was a bit bulky at first, but once I started using it regularly I realized it was actually a pretty decent size; fits great in the hand and isn't too heavy, plus it practically disappears in my tool bag. Battery life has been exceptional, I've done several jobs in a row without having to replace it and I love having a spare on hand if needed. The adjustable torque is nice, but I can't quite tell the difference between the mid range settings. The price was a little steep if you're wanting to make the jump from other basic battery powered drivers, but it is well worth it. I'm very happy with this tool so far!

My experience with this product.
Best tool that we have ever used Does work that other machines cannot do and it gets int positions that other machines cannot handle. The system takes the place of many other Drivers and is very user friendly. Have used Bosh equipment for years and they have very long lives. Have one of these for my work room that I haven used for alms a year and the driver was still charged. Wold sugest that you get all the Bosh equipment which would sell out very fast
