Discover the magical world of Carnival of the Animals in this musical reimagining of this celebrated suite for children – push the button in each breathtaking scene to hear the vivid sound of an orchestra playing from Camille Saint-Saëns’ score. One day, two brothers discover a magical animal kingdom behind their bookcase . They are greeted by the royal lion with his shaggy mane; ask for directions from an old lonely tortoise; take a ride on some lumbering elephants; topple a skeleton of dinosaur bones; and swim among a school of shimmering fish. If only they could take them all home... The book includes extracts from “The Swan,” “Aquarium,” “Fossils,” and “Finale” (From Disney’s Fantasia ) along with a totally new story to link the pieces together. As you and your little one journey through the magical scenes, you will press the buttons to hear 10 excerpts from the suite’s music . At the back of the book, find a short biography of the composer, Camille Saint-Saëns, with details about his composition of Carnival of the Animals . Next to this, you can replay the musical excerpts and, for each of them, read a discussion of the instruments, rhythms and musical techniques that make them so powerful. A glossary defines musical terms. The Story Orchestra series brings classical music to life for children through gorgeously illustrated retellings of classic ballet, opera, and program music stories paired with 10-second sound clips of orchestras playing from their musical scores. With The Story Orchestra keyboard sound books, children can play the famous melodies themselves with the sound of a real grand piano. Also available from the Story Orchestra series : The Magic Flute , I Can Play (vol 1) , Swan Lake , The Sleeping Beauty , The Nutcracker , and Four Seasons in One Day . Manufacturer's note: please pull the white tab out of the back of the book before use. Sound buttons require a firm push in exact location to work, which may be hard for young children. All sound clips are 10 seconds long. The perfect primer to introduce children to classical music. Review: Beautiful interactive book - This is great for my music obsessed 3 year old who loves pushing buttons. He loves the story and illustrations, but his favorite part is pushing buttons. The buttons are a bit hard to press at the beginning of the book because there are several pages between his finger and the buttons themselves, but the pages are thicker and high quality, so I can't be too mad. I can just have him turn to the back and push them if he gets frustrated. Beautiful illustrations too. It's great to have a kids sound book that isn't obnoxious and that we can take on long car trips. I want to get more in the series! Review: Fun and engaging for littles - My kids (10,8, 6) love these stories and eat them up! We homeschool and for me this is great to find engaging educational books. They keep asking for more of them! Great quality and artwork and the sound was decent as well. Sometimes you have to push a little hard it seems on buttons to get it to play but still works. The binding seems like it would not hold up well if handled without care

Lovely!
Great book! Love the Swan and the Elephants the most. :) A relaxing book to wind down for naptime or read anytime. The Story Orchestra books are fantastic and cute. Enjoyed by ages 1-8 (and 33 and beyond 💜) The buttons can be tough to press (especially when in a rocker together and trying to hold the book up around them), so be careful if you've got a "me do" toddler. 😂

Such a beautiful book
Got this for my 2-year-old grandson. He was really taken by it. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. The buttons are a little hard to push, but we managed. I also wish the excerpts were a bit longer, but I understand there's a limit to how much music can be put on. It's a wonderful way to introduce kids to classical music. I'm sure as he gets older, I'll get more into reading the story with him, but for now, I am asking him to name the objects in the picture and telling him the boys' names. I'm destined to order more from the series.

beautiful
beautiful book and symphony BUT the piece played per page spread is way too short. It would enhance the full experience if the music played long enough to calmly read all on the page spread.

My toddler’s favorite book!
The books from this collection are our new favorite books! My toddler asks to read these multiple times a day. He will listen and look at these pages for easily 45 minutes at a time. The Carnival of the Animals is his favorite but I’d like to purchase them all eventually. The quality of the art is incredible and so engaging. The music selections are really thoughtful. The information in the back highlights music terms and helps the reader to understand the composer and music better. Awesome gift for you or a friend.

A los peques les encanta que le contemos la historia mientras ellos van pulsando para escuchar la música. 100% recomendable. Muy buenas ilustraciones.

Beautifully detailed book
I bought this one, along with others in the set, to use with my piano students to broaden their music knowledge. My students love them! I made up a question sheet to go with each book in the series (I bought 4) and the kids really enjoy reading the book and listening to the tune on each page.
