Braun products works best with least hair on the body. Therefore for minimum pain and excellent result use a razor before epilation.

It seems that I am collecting Braun appliances. I also have an electric toothbrush and a hairdryer as well as this.. I used to wax but having to let my hair grow long enough for that was an annoyance. Shaving was out of the question as I don't have the time, or in fact the money to afford a Gillette pack of razors. So epilating was a good option. As a beginner I found the starter pack was handy indeed. The ice pack numbs the area first so you can't really feel the pain. It also has a starter head to grab less hair at a time, and a starter clip on head that has rubbery sprung nodules that massage the skin. This basically takes it easy on you as you become used to the whole thing. As it comes with two roller heads (that grab the hair) and two clip on heads, that determine how close it is to the skin, you can mix and match until you are used to epilating. It also has two speed settings so there really is great flexibility. You can be a wimp and do it slow or be Rambo and whip them off fast. The light is a necessity. I cannot understand why other brands do not have this feature. You cannot really see which hairs you have not covered without it. Especially under the arms where it is hard to see and I would recommend using a mirror. It has a nice little mesh bag to keep it all together, and a cleaning brush. You will be surprised how much hair it takes away. If you choose to epilate it does hurt at first and is quite uncomfortable but it does go away and in my opinion is the best way to get rid of hair. If you want a good epilator I would really recommend a Braun.

I had tried an epilator years ago and after whimpering through the process on one leg simply couldn't go on. Now, after 12 years, I found that I was sick of shaving every day in summer, professional waxing was expensive, home waxing was tedious, messy, and painful and I simply was at my wit's end. I read the reviews for this model and decided to give it a go. I am so glad that I did! Epilators have come a long way since I used one. This brand comes with a starter head for beginners to ease themselves into the sensation. There is also a cool pack which you can use to numb your skin beforehand. I have found that the first few minutes are prickly and annoying, but once you relax and put the massaging heads in direct contact with the skin it's actually not that bad at all. More tingly than anything else. My underarm area is the most sensitive. I still have a little trouble with the first few minutes of epilator contact in that region. However, it does get better every time as your skin adjusts to the epilator. The smoothness of the skin afterwards is like a fresh wax. There are little red bumps of irritation for a few hours, but they quickly fade. You won't have to reach for a razor every single morning. It's really quite freeing! If you can't decide whether or not to try this product out, I say go for it. To me it was a worthwhile investment.

If you're like me and needed to shave every other day then you'll probably need to use this that often too. I was disappointed that even though my hairs grow back a bit finer I still have to epilate as much as I shaved with a razor. The product leaflet indicated that I might only have to shave monthly but several months on I've noticed no difference.
