Narex Richter Bevel Edge Chisel Set of 5

I like these a lot. They are not super thick and heavy. Which I like since I use them mostly for joinery and I don’t really need to hog out large chunks of wood. The hold the edge very well and she handles are very comfortable. I highly recommend these.

Very sharp right out of the box and they hold the edge well. Arrived with no issues. The chisel tips were well protected with plastic covers, the box tightly held the chisels in place, and there was a protective film that prevented rust. The handles are comfortable and strong. Flatness was perfect. I highly recommend these chisels.

Very nice chisels I have been wanting to to get away from the cheap ones for a while as a woodworker I need to make precise cuts for certain wood connections these fit the bill the steel is hard and will hold sharpness

Excellent product, no need to sharpen out of the box. Cut any of my high Janka rated woods like butter. Nice box presentation. Worth the money.

Just received the chisel set today. I like the superior blade polish, the excellent initial sharpness, and the ash handles (likely to be tough). The claimed high alloy hardness, if consistently true, argues for longer edge retention. I miss the size markings that are on the blades of my softer-alloy Narex chisel set. Also, the tang and pressed-steel tang support is a bit larger on the older set. These small differences may prove to be unimportant. I have not put the new chisel set to work so cannot speak to edge retention and ease of sharpening. These would influence my rating after longer use. Overall, I expect that Narex has created another winner. Added: I will compare this set with my fifty-two dollar Neiko chisel set. A half hour ago, I chamfered the end grain on a short pine board. Both brands: Neiko and Narex Richter, cut smoothly and easily. I had first sharpened both. Why should you buy this set or, conversely, the Neiko set, which costs less than a third as much? The Neiko set comes in a professional looking aluminum case with hinged top cover. There are nine chisels, so if a larger variety of widths is important to you, then the Neiko set is better in this regard than the five piece Narex Richter set. The Neiko set has attractive plastic handles that fit my hand (perhaps not yours) as well as the wood handles on the Narex set. If you pound the chisel through hardwood, the Neiko set may be more durable, but that is only a conjecture, not proven fact. Machining on the Neiko set is functional but crude, with sharply abrupt side flank edges and visible machining marks. The Narex blades are better finished, have far thinner side flanks, and give an immediate impression of care and quality. The handles are good quality appearing wood, well finished. Hardness and edge retention are the big unknowns. The Neiko blades are labeled chrome vanadium. So are the Narex Richter blades, with the added claim of being cryogenic cold hardened to 62 HRC (one of several standard measurement systems for steel hardness). This is much harder than previous Narex non-Richter chisels which have commonly claimed 58-59 hardness. I believe that edge retention is closely related to metal hardness, but some exceptions may exist, as in the highest priced Lee Valley chisels which claim a superior proprietary alloy. Thoughts: For low and moderate chisel work loads, the Neiko set is a very attractive buy with the advantage of nine chisel widths. For higher workloads, the Narex Richter set is likely to go longer between sharpening. I have both sets, both work well, but I reach now for the Narex Richter set and find that five chisels are enough for most work. I have other, older and partly mismatched, chisels that satisfy the random need for a different chisel width than is in the Narex Richter set. Later. Since I bought the Narex Ricter five piece chisel set, the company has released two more widths. I have purchased these. They seem of identical, excellent quality. To store the full set, I made a tailored cross bar with notches that fits across a shop window. You can find directions for crossbar chisel holders on the internet. Try a general search and YouTube. I find it a very convenient storage method.

These are the best chisels I have used yet and I have used many over the years. Very minimal honing to prepare for use, if any. Usually it's the longest part of buy a set of chisels, these were a breeze and already very sharp out of the box. Great feel, balance and awesome looks... nice and shiny. Love them, I think this is the last set I will ever buy... Should last forever

I love these chisels. They're sharp out of the box and seem to hold their edge, at least in basswood. The handles are comfortable in my hands.

First class set of chisels, fit and finish is first class. Honed them with a Veritas honing jig and they are incredibly sharp and are holding the edge very well. Handles are very comfortable and well finished, they even have some nice fiddleback figure on them. These chisels replaced a set of Freud chisels i bought back in 1984 that had very good steel, but poor quality handles.

Very nice chisels. Smooth handles, good feel. Weight is great. Ive got big hands, xl size. These chisels fit my hands perfectly. I believe would also fit smaller and larger hands too. The metal feels nice and smooth. The smaller sized ones are very sharp out of the box. 19mm and 25mm not quite as sharp but serviceable. I usually sharpen chisels when i recieve them anyway so no issues. Good box, looks nice and solid. Pleased with these tools.

A penas he utilizado alguno y, además, no los he afilado, sino tal como vienen. Parecen de buena calidad como es de esperar por ese precio. ¿merecen la pena?; seguramente con otros más baratos se puede conseguir lo mismo o casi; eso sí, habrá que afilarlos más a menudo. La caja la recibí con un pequeño desperfecto que afectaba a la cerradura, seguramente a causa de un golpe durante el transporte. Amazon me hizo un descuento que es muy de agradecer. Yo mismo pude arreglarla y ha quedado bien y no se nota mucho.

Compré este juego de formones como regalo de cumpleaños para mí y cumplió completamente mis expectativas. Desde el primer momento se nota la calidad: el acabado del acero es excelente, los filos vienen bien preparados y los mangos son muy cómodos en la mano, con una ergonomía que permite trabajar con precisión y control. Además, la presentación en estuche es impecable, ideal tanto para proteger las herramientas como para tenerlas organizadas. El envío fue internacional y, a pesar de eso, el producto llegó en perfectas condiciones, sin golpes ni daños, lo cual habla muy bien tanto del empaque como del manejo durante el transporte. En uso, los formones responden muy bien: cortan limpio y se sienten sólidos, sin vibraciones ni juego. Se nota que es una herramienta pensada para durar y para trabajos finos de carpintería. Sin duda, una excelente compra. Totalmente recomendados para quienes buscan calidad, precisión y una herramienta que también sea un gusto tener.

Great looks, great performance and a pretty good price. Unless you're to spend a lot more, these will do lost ofnwhat you want or need.
