Reliable WiFi 6 Upgrade with Great Features
Reliable WiFi 6 Upgrade with Great Features The ASUS RT-AX3000 has been a rock-solid upgrade to my home network. Setup was straightforward with the ASUS app—within minutes I had it configured and running. The WiFi 6 support really makes a difference; multiple devices can stream, game, and video call without slowdowns. Coverage is excellent across a two-story house, and even the backyard gets a stable signal. I appreciate the thoughtful extras ASUS built in. Adaptive QoS lets me prioritize gaming or streaming when needed, and the parental controls are simple yet effective. AiProtection, powered by Trend Micro, adds an extra layer of peace of mind against security threats. I also like that it’s AiMesh compatible, which means I can expand coverage in the future without replacing the router. One small note: while performance is excellent, the unit does run a little warm. Not a big issue, but something to keep in mind if you place it in a tight space. Bottom line: A fast, reliable, and feature-packed router that’s a great choice if you’re ready to move into WiFi 6 and want excellent coverage with built-in security and expandability.

FREAKING AWESOME !!!
This thing if freaking AWESOME !! More than adequate for my needs, and I think there is some actual alien technology at work herein !!! I have Xfinity Broadband @ 400, actual getting about 505 down at this Router, setup was flawless, must reboot Router several times for some of the settings I chose, not a problem with it's 4-core processor - reboots are fast. EXTREMELY versatile and configurable with MANY attributes that were not available on other Routers I examined. As far as it's power and capability it rivals the "Sonicwall 350" we have at work BUT provides FULL BANDWIDTH and THROUGHPUT to each port even with all the Security features active... the Sonicwall 350 only allows about 350Mb throughput but with this Router I am getting in excess of 1200Mb connection rates to my laptop and Speedtests show nearly the same in Browser as the Routers built-in Speedtest !!! EVERYONES biggest complaint about their routers and connection is they "don't get download speeds in there browser that they are paying for", but most people don't understand "overhead" in bandwidth issues and don't buy an appropriate speed router to be able to provide said speed. For me and my scenario - THIS Router is the MONSTER and beats several others I have tried that all said they could do something but ended up NOT being able... I must add that I tried a "Refurbished" version of this Router and it was madness trying to get it setup and it caused many problems with my Servers and remote connections... the vendor, Azusa-IoT, was gracious and very communicative regarding return and refund, their Customer Service efforts were fast and refund happened within an hour of them receiving the Refurb unit at their location. So there is DEFINITELY something wrong with that REFURB unit. The difference in cost was only about $40. The difference in frustration level and blood pressure increase was PRICELESS !!!

ASUS RT-AX3000 Superior alternative to Verizon routers for way less money
I only give 4 stars because there are many more powerful and feature rich options available, albeit for much higher prices. This is an excellent value, with enough features to keep you connected to high speed internet with little risk of technological obsolescence, and enough WIFI range to cover most 2,000 sq ft homes well. I just upgraded to Fios 300/300 GHz which required a higher speed router (eg, Verizon G3100). The G3100 router LAN ports were (defectively) slow, though the WIFI connections were fast. Having determined I could handle the upgrade without Verizon support, I purchased the ASUS RT-AX3000 for less than half the price, and returned the VZ router. The ASUS WIFI has better range and signal strength, more nodes, and the LAN ports are fully functional. The ASUS set up and user interface was a challenge for a non techie. Automatic setup started when first connected to my PC, but it bombed before completion. The backup instructions to use "router.asus" does not work (type in the LAN IP into your browser instead). Once into the router administration, I found the organization and terminology confusing at times. Stick with the default settings to start. Verizon router setup was much simpler, if less flexible. Guest WIFI is setup via the router administration software, not an option with the initial setup. The Assus Router App for your phone is a handy plus for monitoring usage across your connected devices. If you are upgrading from VZ 100/100 GHz or lower service, you probably need to do the following: 1. subscribe to a higher FIOS speed package. Verizon will tell you if you need to upgrade your ONT (the box where FIOS service comes in from the street). 2. call VZ support to activate the data / WAN port in your ONT. 3. Plug into the ONT Data port a CAT 5E or 6 ethernet cable long enough to connect to your new router on the other end (this may require an electrician if you are not handy and must run the ethernet cable through walls or floors). You can save plenty $ by buying your own router and self installing. However, I believe if you want to also have a Verizon TV / cable feed, you will be limited to using a cable company supplied router because you need both ethernet and coax cable connections. Coax is the round cable that cable companies use to connect to your TV set top box and slower speed routers. A note on speed tests. I was NOT able to run a speed test from the internet because the new router has set up some sort of firewall. To get around it, install Ookla Speed Test software on your PC. An added advantage is that it measures the speed all the way to your device, not just to your router. The Verizon speed test is extremely suspect. It reported high speed connections from my PC, when in reality I didn't have enough bandwidth to even open streaming services (when connected through a defective lan port).

Router to get For Control BDV
PROS: Fast, Thrifty Price, Easy fast reboot, Logs for both network wired and wireless connections. Helped me identify why my paperwhite 7th gen kindle was loosing battery so fast. WiFi and wired connections are super fast. AI to help with router management is nice. Really like that interface to router is not a pay for subscription like some other router companies. CONS: Could have a smidge stronger signal, but both 5GHZ and 2.4GHZ work fine in my house. Will not take as long passwords as my bricked nighthawk did, also have to use the same password for both wireless channels. Yes I'd buy this again and recommend to friend. Especially since it has dropped $20 since I purchased it only a few months ago BDV UPDATE: 5/4/2025 I'm still liking this router. My only complaint so far is that the router does not clearly identify attacks against it. There are days that it is lagging and a reset fixes the problem, I don't blame the router but my poor internet provider that offers zero protection from router attacks. That said today I finally found the way to set my router up to reboot daily, this should improve my performance as I won't have to remember to do so daily. It would be nice if there was a PDF available with all the configurations explained for this router as there ar plenty. It isn't like love this router. True test will be this summer as Heat and Routers do not mix well. Time will tell.

Wonderful product, impressive speeds and reliability.
I bought 2 of these and wired one directly to my main router and one into my gaming pc and I've been using it for a while. I've been really impressed with the reliability and speeds of this router. For the price, I bought them thinking I was going to use them for a while and start having issues and replace it with something more substantial but atp I am thoroughly impressed. My download speeds went form around 230mbs~ to 450mbs+.

So Far an Excellent router
I have had it the router for less than a week. So far no drops in service. Why did I buy a new router and choose this one? My previous router was about 6 years old. I had just upgraded our internet speed to 400/20. I did not notice a huge boost to my wifi speed. My 5G wifi signal was running at about 150 mbs one room away from the router and next room over (no walls in between) about 35 more feet. It was down to about 40 mbs or slower. The 2.4G out of my old router was slow all the way around. In the same room as the router it was about 80mbs but in the first room over it went down to about 20-40 mbs and to the far room it was 10-20mbs. With the Asus Rt- AX3000 I get very fast wifi speeds. The router is not set up for 2.4 and 5G, just one signal to hook up to. It is so fast I think that works fine for me. The setup was pretty easy, although I did read through the manual before it arrived the next day from amazon. I now get speeds at about 450mbs all over the house. Slightly slower at the farthest point, 430 mbs in the farthest room away. Downstairs in the basement (one floor below the router) is still at 450mbs. House is 2400 sq ft. 3 levels with the router on the middle floor. One of the reasons I purchased this router was the in-depth review on this site. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/asus-rt-ax58u-review I believe the rt-ax58u is the same as the rt-ax3000. I also wanted a router that would be ready for wifi 6. I have one PC with a wired connection and it runs the approximately the same speed (maybe 5mbs faster) as the wifi connection. I am impressed. Here is a major point to note. I don't have any Wifi 6 devices and I set up the router without the wifi 6 enabled. So the question I had trouble finding the answer to before I purchased was would it improve my wifi range and speed even without wifi 6 devices???? YES. very much so. The other reason I purchased this router is the ability to mesh with another Asus router. It doesn't look like I will need to buy if I decide I want to move the signal outside father it may help.

failed after 6 weeks
Worked great for the first 6 weeks and then it died. I bought it as part of a black friday deal, I don't know maybe it was a re-furbished piece of garbage. I don't believe in re-furbished items it means it was defective to begin with and I am paying for something to be new and work. I set it up easy in March, nice app, easy interface, pretty much plug-n-play, good strong wifi signal no issues with setup. After a month, intermittent internet connection issues and slowness. At 6 weeks nothing worked. Performed troubleshooting with ISP to confirm it was not them. They saw a strong stable signal going to the router but the router was not pushing the signal to the other devices. Ironically the wifi worked but the two PC's hardlined into it had no internet until I bypassed the router. Worked with Asus support who just had me reset the device a couple of times and then said I needed to RMA it so they can troubleshoot. I asked for a new one and of course was denied because it's outside the 60 day window meanwhile it's brand new and doesn't work. So they plan on sending me back a re-furbished item, which I bought new but was probably already re-furbished which is why I do not buy re-furbished garbage. It either works or it was not manufactured correctly. Period. This replaced a previous Asus router I had already owned for 6 years without a hiccup. Never an issue it just got old and slower and I needed an upgrade. Big mistake. I ended up going with a Netgear Nighthawk for now and if Asus sends me back this one, it will be in the closet as a backup unit. I will not say not to buy it because my previous Asus product worked great for a long time, it might have been this one item but I read other reviews more recently this has happened several times. Works and then just stops. So buyer beware you might get a good one or lemon.
