Perfect Replacement for ALL Genie Safe-T-Beam Openers
During a recent electrical storm, a close lightning strike took out a few electronic devices in and around our home. One thing I noticed was that my Genie garage door opener was no longer functioning. The light would come on but the door would not go up or down. I checked the little LED lights, located on the Safe-T-Beam sensors by the garage door, and noticed that the red LED was blinking in a reoccurring pattern. I went to the Genie website and checked their support page. I was delighted to find a useful troubleshooting guide, which utilizes the LED lights on the Safe-T-Beam sensors to diagnose potential problems with your Genie garage door opener. This handy troubleshooting guide can be found here: [...] The guide helped me determine that my opener motor and electronics were OK but one or both of my Safe-T-Beam sensors were bad and needed to be replaced. I almost purchased the replacement kit from the Genie website but decided to check Amazon.com first. I'm glad I did, as I found the exact same kit at a much lower price. The Genie 34094R Garage Door Opener Replacement Safe-T-Beam Kit is the same as the previous 35048R kit, and is the perfect replacement for every Genie garage door opener that utilizes the Safe-T-Beam sensors (all models manufactured from 1995 to current). This easy to install replacement kit includes the following items: - Both Infrared eyes/sensors (one with Red LED and one with Green LED) - Two Safe-T-Beam sensor mounting brackets - Bell wire for connecting sensors to opener unit (approx. 100 ft. of wire included) - Mounting hardware (screws, washers & nuts) for brackets and sensors - Installation instructions I did not need to replace the wire, as my previous wires were still in great shape. I found that I was not able to use my existing sensor mounting brackets, as the new Safe-T-Beam sensors had a slightly different mounting method. Luckily the 34094R kit comes with new mounting brackets (and everything else you would possibly need to install the new sensors). The installation instructions are very easy to read and understand, and provide several illustrations to help make the process simple. I had the new sensors installed in about 20 minutes and my Genie garage door opener was working perfectly once again. The 34094R Safe-T-Beam replacement kit is a genuine Genie service item and contains everything needed to replace the Safe-T-Beam sensors on all Genie garage door openers manufacturer on or after 1995. It is easy to install and works flawlessly. The cost is very reasonable and I highly recommend this product to anyone with a Genie opener that needs one or both Safe-T-Beam sensors replaced.

Perfect OEM Replacement, Easy to Install
Perfect replacement for my Overhead Door Odyssey 1000 sensors. I just slipped the old (malfunctioning) transmitter off the bracket, switched over the wires to the new transmitter, and slipped the new one back onto the old bracket. As soon as it lined up with the other sensor, the red indicator light stopped flashing and the door now works perfectly. A simple 5 minute repair. This is an OEM (Genie) part, sealed and new in package.

Easy to install, works perfectly
This is an OEM replacement for all Genie brand garage door openers built since 1993. One reviewer ranked this with a single star as he stated what he received was not as represented in the photo. I cannot say whether or not this was true, but I can say that what I received was exactly what was represented by the photo in the listing. I simply unscrewed the inoperative safety beams (photo sensors), disconnected the wiring, used the same screws and the same screw holes in the replacement units, reconnected the wiring, and immediately had a properly operating garage door opener. I should also note that this is a newer design than the defective ones I replaced. They are physically different and actually feel more substantial than the units these replaced. Also, they use philips head screw terminals rather than the less reliable push-in connections on the old units. They have a self diagnosis code that tells you if something is amiss. I cannot review that feature as they worked instantly after installation. Lastly, this is a very, very easy DIY project. Took me all of 10 minutes to do the job, and since where I live, today the temperature outside is below zero and I had to have the door open to get enough light to work in, that was a very welcome bonus. If you know which end of a philips head screwdriver fits in the screw terminals, you have the necessary skills to do the job. Incidentally, if your overhead door will go up, but will only go down if you hold the button down on the wired controller continuously for the door to close, most likely the safety beams, or their wiring, is the problem. Don't use the remote controls to try this...they won't close the door no matter what. That's a safety feature. Very, very happy. Good price, quality product, fast delivery.

Instructions/Help for would-be do-it-yourselfers
I'll start off by saying that this Garage Door Opener Safe-T-Beam Replacement Kit worked perfectly for me. I have a 20 year old Genie Intellicode garage door opener that was here when we bought the house and the garage door opener mechanism has performed flawlessly the entire 20 years. However - over the twenty years there have been intermittent issues with the stock sensors that probably came with the garage door opener. From time to time the stock rectangular shaped sensors would get misaligned causing the garage door to fail to come down. Also - one of the lights on one of the sensors never has worked making it difficult to align the infra-red beam. I have a single 16 foot heavy insulated garage door so having a garage door opener is a must - especially for my wife. In the past month or so the sensors seemed to be failing and at least 5 times I had to readjust the angle of the sensors to get the garage door to close. I decided it was time to fix this problem. I priced a similar Genie Brand pair of sensors at a local lumber yard and they wanted a bit over $40.00 for a kit to replace the sensors. In fairness to the lumber yard - I think that their kit included new wires which this kit does not include wiring. Since my garage door sensors were already working I did not see a need to replace the sensor wiring. I believe this will be the case for most of you if you are having issues with the sensors on your Genie garage door opener. Here is how to determine if this is a job that you want to tackle. If you'd prefer to call a professional to make this swap expect to pay approximately $125.00 including parts, trip and service charge. I know because I called one. He stated that if he had to replace the wiring to the sensors I could figure he'd add another $50.00. He suggested changing the wiring. Tools you will need: 1.) Standard flat screwdriver (used to open the old sensors so that you can remove the wiring) 2.) Small phillips heads screwdriver (used to attach the wiring to the new sensors) 3.) A decent battery operated screw gun to drive the screws that come with the new sensors. (You will need a ratchet style bit driver for your screw gun so that you can use 1/4" drive sockets) I used sheetrock screws instead with phillips heads. 4.) A step ladder or something to enable you to reach and unplug the 110V pigtail that powers your garage door opener. How to install 1.) First and foremost --- UNPLUG ---- your garage door opener. If you fail to cut the power from your garage door opener and you touch the sensor wires together during removal and re-installation of the new sensors this can result in shorting out the small computer board in your garage door opener. If that happens you will need to buy a new circuit board or replace the garage door opener completely. Suddenly your little do-it-yourself project just got a lot more expensive - if you do not follow this simple basic instruction, you are on your own. 2.) Remove the existing screws holding the old sensors (bracket and all) one at a time with a battery operated screw gun. Take your flat-head screwdriver and pry the old black sensor apart. Mine were the old rectangular plastic box style - they had a slot where I could insert the flat head screwdriver and with a slight twist they easily came apart. Once separated the 2 wires were inserted in a slip lock connection. All I needed to do was to slide the small green tab at the top of the slip joint connector and the wire fell out of the connector. 3.) Run the wires that you just took off the old sensors through the holes in the arm (bracket) of the new sensor so that the wires have a foot hold in the new sensor. Then attach the wiring to the screws on the back of the new sensor with a small phillips head screwdriver. (It doesn't matter which wire goes on which terminal). The attachment points on the new sensors have a square metal compression sleeve behind the phillips head screws - be sure to put the bare portion of the wire in between the compression sleeve and not just around the screws. 4.) The instructions that came with the new sensors stated to install the new sensors 5 to 6 inches off the garage floor. My garage floor is not level but this is how I averted all the measurement and aligning issues. My old garage door sensors worked right? I was able to use one of the old screw holes to set the sensor at the same height as the old sensor. Do not install any other screws at this point - just the one screw will hold each sensor well enough to check the alignment. If you have to twist the sensor slightly it is easier to do with just one screw installed. 5.) Install the other sensor as stated above - attach the wires and anchor the bracket arm to the wall or studs with one screw only in the top most existing screw hole if that's what you did with the other side's sensor. 6.) With both sensors attached and all four wires attached into their respective connectors - plug the garage door opener back up. Check to see that you have a constant red light on one sensor and a constant green sensor on the other side. If you are as lucky as me both lights will be lit up and you're good to now test the opening and closing of the garage door. If not - and the lights are flashing it means that the beam is not aligned properly. Look at each sensor and check the angle of each - the lighting port that emits the beam should be perpendicular to the garage floor. If it is not perpendicular slightly twist the sensor bracket. You'll know you've hit it just right when the lights on both sensors stay on. Check the garage door for opening and closing once again. Also safety check that you can stop the door when it is closing by breaking the beam with your foot or some other solid object. Do not get in the garage door's pathway until you are sure that the safety sensors are working properly. 7.) Attach at least two more screws in each of the new sensor brackets and check to make sure that you didn't effect the alignment with the added screws. Nice Job. Authentic Genie sensors, but be a little careful with the mounting hardware.
Look closely at the mounting hardware. In my case, the standoffs were much shorter than the ones I needed. Luckily, you could just switch the sensors from the supplied mounts to the existing mounts, such that all you needed for replacement was a Phillips screwdriver. If this will be an initial installation, confirm the length of the mounts will fit your application. (My existing mounts were adjustable to about twice the length of the supplie mounts.) That said, the replacement sensors worked great, and were an easy swap. I was worried they might be knock-offs, given how hard they pushed that they were real Genie, but they were not lying - the are real Genie replacements. I highly recommend.

Works well in bright sunny days.
Finally, sensors that don't fail every time the sun shines into the photo eye. Replaced the old original eyes that just were trouble on sunny days. Sun light was reflecting off the garage floor even when the old sensors were in the shadow of the garage walls and they would fail. System was installed over 20 years ago so these new ones are still compatible. These work so much better. I did move them back a bit when mounting just to help block some of the direct sun exposure. But downside is they are physically longer so I had to make custom mount points to keep them from sticking out so far. I didn't want to mount them on the garage framing since I was setting them back a bit. The stock image shows them sticking out horizontal from the garage frame. I rotated them 90deg to keep them tucked into the wall, hence the need for a custom mount points. But they work as described.

These work but aftermarket ones (twice) didn't
I had bought an aftermarket set through Amazon and both the red and green lite up fine and the door would go up but ever time the button was pushed it only wanted to go up. So I requested a replacement and got the same result. I started wondering if something was wrong with my opener but decide to spend more on these genuine Genie Brand Sensors. Cost was more than double that of the aftermarket but after putting these on, the door worked immediately in both directions. My openers are Genie 3024.

Solution to garage door refusing to close unless it’s dark out
I avoided cheaper imitation sensors and gladly bought this official Genie door sensor pair for replacement. My Genie has been in use for about 10 years and last 12 months the door would not close unless it was dark out. Clearly the sensors had worn out and became too light sensitive. I spent 30 minutes replacing them using the existing brackets and wiring. Voila, my door now opens and closes every time, dark and bright sunshine. Nice quality and simple to do. Well worth the little extra cost for original Genie product.

Solved my issues happy to see it being offered to allow servicing
Foremost I'm mostly happy to see this being offered as a part that you can purchase. My garage door had been not able to close and had on and off issues working. Tried all the troubleshooting to ensure that the sensors weren't accidentally being triggered by the sun or something in the door or just shifted so they werent pointing at each other. Ultimately, saw the error code flash up on the motor unit. After reviewing it on a manual, decided to replace the sensors. Replacement was easy and trouble free. Worst part was just having to work in a corner of the garage that is infested with spiders and other large insects. Anyways, after installing, the garage worked well once again. I will hope that these last long. The last set of sensors which came with the unit lasted atleast 7 or 8 years before they went haywire so I'm expecting similar performance with these as these felt actually a bit more substantial than the original ones. Regardless, great to see replacement parts available on Amazon and it was an easy repair that resolved my issue. So overall can definitely recommend this for anyone looking for replacement sensors.
