Creative Haven Midnight Garden Coloring Book: Heart & Flower Designs on a Dramatic Black Background (Adult Coloring Books: Flowers & Plants)

I absolutely love this collection of illustrations. I purchased this book because it sounded somewhat mysterious and I am a large fan of black backgrounds and often color the backgrounds in other books black or dark blue. A deep background makes the colors pop more. What I love about Creative Haven coloring books is that much consideration is taken into making sure that the pages are thick enough to take markers and gel pens but not printed on both sides in case something bleeds through. I have seen many coloring books with print on both sides which tells me to, perhaps, stick to colored pencils in books like that in order to get the full use of the book. The designs in this book are very intricate, detailed and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this for an adult but take note that if you are getting this for a child it is quite detailed and could prove to be frustrating for them. I own a number of Creative Haven books and I am definitely not disappointed.

beautiful pictures with black background that produced gorgeous pictures using Copic markers. Other markers or colored pencils would provide similar results. Highly recommend buying this coloring book from someone who l has bought many coloring books off this type. Note: Creative Haven coloring books are the best I've bought for use with markers. The pages are perforated for removal so you can remove and not bleed through to the next picture. Even better, Creative Haven coloring books are adult interesting, only use one side of the page so you don't have to choose which picture you want to color and which will be ruined if using any type of marker. In addition, they don't put printed coloring on every picture so that you have a portion of the picture already colored with the author's color scheme, which you will never match with any coloring tool. Many much more expensive and not as interesting coloring books for adults do one or both of these things. Check before you buy if you'll be able to use all of the pictures and not half of a book priced twice as high.

The florals are pretty and pop against the black background. Some of the designs lack detail making it hard to determine if what you are looking at is flower petal or a leaf. If the drawings had more details in them it would eliminate this problem. Over all I have enjoyed coloring the picture in this book and feel it was price accordingly.

Flowers and hearts just pop on a black background! Wonderful book to color in, and the gel inks and colored pencils I used show up beautifully. I absolutely love this coloring book and already have more like it ordered and on the way. So far I have not had anything bleed to the other side, but I haven't tried permanent markers. Just the dual tip brush pens sold all over Amazon and they were fine. I place extra paper between the page I am working on and everything underneath it, just in case. The book has been printed with both sides of the page being used so I won't risk using anything like a Sharpie. I hope this helps. Happy coloring.

Dear Dover Publications, I've gotten coloring books with black backgrounds before and been totally happy with the printing and designs. While the graphics in this book are pleasant, the printer did not check to see that all of the black backgrounds were printing in solid black. Too many pages with grey streaking. Disappointing. I'm adding a letter to Dover Publications in the off chance they will reach out to me. I could not locate a customer service link, online. Dear Dover Publications, I'm a regular customer at Amazon.com. over the past few years I've purchased ten or more of you adult coloring books for myself and others. I especially love the ones with the black inked backgrounds. However, my recent purchase of Midnight Gardens by Lindsy Boylan had a number of pages where there are wide grey stripes and white thin stripes where there is NO black ink. If the book had been gone through by quality assurance, I can't imagine it ever would have shipped out to your distributors. And I don't believe the artist would appreciate knowing that you're selling her work with obvious defects in the printing process. I'm including pictures of some of the pages so you can see for yourself, the missing black ink issue. I love your books, even though they are normally short, with 30 on average. Please address this issue, so I can continue to purchase the Black inked backgrounds versions. Thank you, G.G. Armbruster

I am really happy that I purchased this Midnight Garden coloring book, but there are some things that I noticed are different from the light background adult coloring books. 1. I used my glitter and neon pens, because my regular gel pens just did not show up as well. 2. You can’t use dark colors around the edges, because they fade into the background. 3. The colored pencils are difficult to use on the pictures, because there is a lot of very small spaces to color. I kept going over the lines because of the thickness of the pencil points. 4. I love that every page has a perforated edge and is one-sided. I noticed, though, the pages are not very thick and ripple a little bit. Even though I noticed some of these issues, I am still happy that I purchased this coloring book. The pictures are unique and beautiful. Update One: I added some pictures that I did with glittering pens. I also raised my stars to five stars. I hope you enjoy the pictures!😀

I’m very pleased with this book but has a very decorative feel to the designs, in my opinion. They remindd me of Mucha, or William Morris tye of designs in many of the pages with repeating stylized floral themes. I like the heave black backgrounds and lines, just for a change. It’s very soothing and appealing to me. I hope it will be for you as well. I can only give you my opinion, really and i highly recommend this book. I’m enjoying it quite a lot. 💗

Loved it absolutely loved it. I couldn't wait everyday to chip away at a page I've been working on or start a few new ones. This book is addicting 😍 it's so good.

Resulta interesante iluminar dibujos cuyo fondo es negro, porque al seleccionar los colores, se debe evitar que se pierdan en el fondo oscuro. Me gustaron los dibujos, algunos tienen bastantes detalles, lo cual me gusta. Le quito una estrella porque son repetitivos.

Les dessins sont super beaux avec leur fond noir, les couleurs ressortent bien. Je regrette un peu la finesse du papier mais vu qu'ils sont imprimé qu'aux recto cela ne pose pas trop de problème.

Las flores y corazones estan muy bien trabajados de tamaños diferentes,Es un libro preciosos.
