A new generation of children love Daniel Tigerโs Neighborhood , inspired by the classic series Mister Rogersโ Neighborhood ! Daniel Tiger puts his taste buds to the test in this charming new 8x8 storybook based on a popular episode of Daniel Tigerโs Neighborhood ! Miss Elaina is coming over for dinner, so Mom Tiger is making two super-special foods! But Daniel and Miss Elaina are nervous about trying them. With some help from Mom and Dad, Miss Elaina Daniel learns that theyโve got to try new foods because they might taste good! This delightful story is perfect for helping little ones understand that trying new thingsโespecially new foodsโcan be fun! ยฉ 2015 The Fred Rogers Company Review: good if you watch the show - We don't watch TV so my toddler has never seen the show this is based on but it looked like a good "trying new foods" book. I don't like some of the catch phrases that must be from the show. It's just odd to call Daniel "Toots" and I have no idea why it ends with โugga muggaโ but if your kid watches the show they might be familiar? I just skip those parts. This book did get my toddler to try new things, most notable was a smoothie as she was not a fan of the blender and didn't want to try it before but after the book she called it a banana swirl and drank it up. I use the phrase "try a new food, it might taste good" if she shows hesitation and it seems to help. Review: A common challenge for children is dealt with here! - I have two grandchilden who eat anything and one who is almost afraid to try something new. We work with him to give a new food a chance by taking a bite. But he is just particular and more fearful. So this book deals with the same issue of a new food being introduced to the characters in the book. What a great idea!! And there is a happy ending too!

LOVE!!
My child is way more adventurous with food after reading this. 3 year old. Will actually play act the book with me when he tries new food & have me sing the song โtry a new food, it might taste goodโ. Total parenting win. Got one for a mom friend too.

Toddler and Preschooler Favorite
My 2 and 3.5 year love this book. The story is simple, teaches a good lesson about trying new things at least once before saying you don't like something, and features characters from Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. We have read it many times and will likely read it many more.

Good but wordy
Itโs a good book for toddlers but if your kid isnโt ready for long, wordy books then wait to get it. My two year old has to warm up to a wordy book and wonโt just sit down and hear it all cover to cover right away. She needs help gaining interest in it. So this book will take some adjustment time for her.

Actually helped my kid try new stuff
I feel like this book actually helped. My almost 4 year old kept saying โI donโt like itโ when he hadnโt even tried something which drove me crazy. I kept reminding him that he didnโt know if he liked it or not because he hadnโt tried it yet but that he didnโt have to eat whatever it is (thatโs the rule at our house). I got this book - big Daniel Tiger fans here - and after reading it over and over and over I began using the language from the book. I also adjusted my language to say โyou can try it when youโre readyโ but he has actually ventured to trying new things lately and it makes me really happy. I think persistence is key as well as taking the pressure off. Forcing them to try it only creates unhealthy relationships with food and teaches them to ignore their own instincts. No pressure = more space for them to be in control and try it when theyโre ready. Big win over here for us!

It works!
I am so thankful for this book! It's seriously helped my selective eater to be open to trying new foods. We made spaghetti with carrots on the side that evening and my son ate it all. For some kids that might not be a big deal but for us it's huge. The motto has also really helped him to be open to trying other foods.
