A great fix for feet with protruding heels!
Although these heel "pads" weren't what I THOUGHT I was looking for, they worked out great! The backs of my heels protrude somewhat more than most, and I usually wear out the fabric at the rear of my athletic shoes before anything else on them dies, so initially I was really just looking for a way to repair my favorite old pair of sneaks and extend their service life. These pads did the trick - just not quite in the way that I expected. The surfaces of these self-adhesive pads that will be against your socks are ultra-slick and smooth - almost no friction at all. So I'm going to order more and put them in my next pair of athletic shoes when they're brand-new, because I think that they will protect the fabric in the heels and make them last longer, and the slick surface will make my shoes so much easier to kick off at the end of the day. These are sold as "Heel Blister Prevention Patches", and they probably work really well for that, since there are two ways to prevent blisters: 1) don't allow any relative motion between your foot and the shoe, and 2) allow smooth sliding with almost no friction between your foot and the shoe. My local drugstore has patches that do the former, but these "Engo" patches take the latter approach. The big plus is that these patches let you slip out of your shoes at the end of the day without even untying them first! I have elastic laces in my athletic shoes to prevent pressure points on the tops of my (rather high) arches, and the combination of these pads and the elastic laces has turned my sneaks into a pair of very comfortable slip-ons! Although I no longer wear my sneaks while working up on the roof of our house, because they're now so easy to slip out of (bit of a safety issue there), I really love wearing my athletic shoes much more than before. Great product! I just wish I'd learned about it years ago, and that there was a cheaper way to buy six pairs at a time! Guess I'm going to have to buy the 30-pack for fifty bucks and give some to my friends.

Super effective, but super overpriced
These blister patches are highly rated for a reason. Theyโre super effective and sit very well wherever you place them. I put them over a rough spot in the heel of some boots (it was tricky to get them down the boot shaft because they kept sticking to the side). Because theyโre slick, they solved my blister problem immediately. Theyโre a good size to cover a large area of potential blister and they might be able to be cut in half if you didnโt need to use the whole thing. But itโs wildly overpriced. I feel like a good duct tape could do the same job from an adhesion and slickness perspective but you pay this much for just 2 patches? Crazy. I donโt regret buying them since they work but itโs still annoying.

however they worked great and she never got a blister
I bought these for my daughter who is hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. She has a tendency to get blisters so that was a big worry. I had them shipped to a post office along the trail and they arrived as promised within two days. She reports that the heel patches lasted quite well but eventually fell off. They did not quite last the 300 miles, however they worked great and she never got a blister. The best part of these patches is that they are applied to the shoes and not to your skin.

Outstanding product. Simple and works well.
Purchased a new pair of boots and while attempting to break them in, within 30 minutes had two massive blisters on the back of my heel. Purchased these to arrive the following day. Put them on, and added a bandage to my blisters, and spent all day wearing the boots without further issue. Outstanding product. EDIT: If this makes a difference, 4 months in with these patches, wearing my boots for ~12 hours/day for at least 3 days per week, and I'm still without any problems. These patches made the break-in process pain free, and the adhesive is still going strong. I'm generally not a shoe person because of flat feet & a splayed stance, meaning my feet fit wider into most shoes, and when I walk around in them I rub against the shoe in an awkward way. This basically always causes abrasion and quick blisters. Before these patches I assumed that was just the normal experience of closed-toe footware. After these patches, I've come to love wearing my boots. Looking forward to wearing boots & knowing I wont feel pain in my feet afterwards is novel feeling, so thank you ENGO! These patches do a simple thing, and do it really well. Highly recommended.

Do not buy
These are awful. The first day I wore them, the heel patches gave me a blister. Even after trimming the patches to fit my shoes, I felt like I needed to readjust constantly for comfort. And readjusting them will damage the lining of your shoes! The instructions indicate to use heat, like a blow dryer, to both affix and loosen the adhesive. Neither is true. I was so disappointed in this product!

Great product if you don't get any rain
I purchased these patches for putting on my running shoes. The product is easy to apply, it apparently holds well to the shoes, is thin enough not to feel them inside nor change gait, and works great for hot spot/blister relief, if you keep them dry, because they came off the minute I stepped on water. It was the second time I was running with the shoes I applied them to. It had rained during the night and I ended up stepping on water when I went for a run in the morning. One step! It wasn't deep water, but as it splashed, the shoes got wet. Not soggy, but they did get wet. After about a quart of a mile I was feeling something rubbing inside my shoes. I had to stop and check. The patch had totally come off, which was very frustrating, since it was written "durable" and "waterproof". I guess the material is waterproof in the sense that it won't absorb any moist from your feet, but the product as it is intended to be used is definitely not waterproof.

I'm a convert. They really work.
Long story short, these things are no gimmick, and have saved a pair of shoes I was expecting to have to retire after a couple of hikes. I was skeptical, but I'm a believer now. I have terrible feet - I pronate badly and have big heel spurs from a lifetime spent in ski boots. This makes finding shoes that work for hiking without blisters a real challenge, and I usually have to run a mid-height boot to hold my heel in the pocket with lacing from above. I've been getting into mountain running, and after my old standbys that are discontinued finally crapped out on me, I found a pair of La Sportivas that seemed to work on short runs and hikes - up until I used them for a longer approach to some spring skiing and started getting bad blisters on my heels. I'd given up and was ready to try another pair of shoes that may have caused the same issue, and then tried these out not expecting much. I'm blown away. I've put in a couple of 20 mile running/fast hiking days in these shoes now without any blister issues, and the patches are holding strong on the shoes. You can feel the movement, but there is so little friction it doesn't even cause a hot spot. Definitely worth the minimal investment.

Didn't work for my purposes
Unfortunately, these didn't work for me. Maybe if your shoes fit really well and are causing you blisters, they'd be a good investment. I bought some slip-on sneakers that turned out to be a little too roomy in the heel. (I have narrow heels and a wide forefoot, so this is a common problem in shoes for me.) My foot moves around a little, and there are bumps/indents in the heel that create a bit of pressure as well. I thought these patches might help the heel move more freely and help a bit with the rubbing. They certainly reduced the friction, but they also made my heels slip right out of the shoes, especially when walking uphill. I took them out almost immediately. Perhaps they'd work if I cut them down a bit in size, but I'm not sure how I'd do that without creating an edge that would rub. Anyway, I guess it was worth a shot, but no dice. I'd tried heel pads (with a little puff to them) before this, and they were uncomfortable (seemed to increase the pressure problem). I also tried putting a band-aid inside the heel. I may try that again, in different positions.

Blister Prevention Patches - work!
Blister Prevention Patches I bought these after suffering with recurring heel blisters. I read lots around the subject on a blister prevention website which offered great advice and a variety of options to try including these. I decided they were worth a go. Wow! What a difference - firstly, you need to understand what this product is. The patch does not provide any cushioning and is a very thin, smooth patch fitted directly to the inner heel area on the shoe which effectively reduces the friction which causes the skin to blister. (Counter intuitive to me initially as I felt the firmer the shoe gripped my foot the better!) By allowing a small amount of movement between the shoe and sock the friction is dramatically lessened. I generally walk approx 4.5 miles each morning and today I was able to do so for the first time in ages without any discomfort. This appears to be the answer I was looking for. Do your research and I hope it helps you too.

A must buy for comfort and shoe life
Have been using these for several years now, and not only do they help with improving comfort and preventing blisters, they help avoid the wear and tear that causes the inside heel fabric to tear itself apart and cause discomfort. For their price, and the extra life they give on pair of runners, they really offer great bang for buck.

Game changer for my runs!
I run at least 10km daily, I was having issues with friction against my heels causing painful blisters and holes in the backs of my shoes making the blisters worse, I bought these and put them over exactly where the holes were starting where my heel rubs. I have had them in about 2 months and haven't had an issue since! I see some people commenting on them peeling at the corners, mine haven't budged but I did also cut mine in half to make it smaller because I didn't think I needed it that big, maybe that's why mine haven't peeled and have laid flat. Highly recommend!

A littl tricky to peel off backing. Expensive. Worked well.
Expensive for what they are. Tricky to peel off backing before being fixed into place inside heel of shoe. They have been effective and pretty hard wearing. In my case I used the patch to reduce friction between shoe and a heel prominence. The reason they probably worked (in my view) is as follows: I was getting a heel blister possibly because a prominence on my heel meant that all the friction required to lift the shoe heel off the ground at each step was concentarted locally on the prominence and therefore focused too much of the shear force between my outer skin and subcutaneous area, leading to a breakdown of fascia and consequent blister. By reducing friction between shoe and heel prominence, the task of lifting the shoe heel at each step was transferred from the prominence to a wider area of my heel so that shear forces were more distributed and less likely to break down the fascia below outer skin.
