anyone bend guitar sides using this?

I have tried this in side bending, and can’t definitively say that it helped. The bend was successful (Koa sides) but some staining occurred, which I was able to sand out. I have since bent Koa successfully without using this product with good results...sorry, not sure if that helps or not.

has anyone used this to bend veneer around a very small radius

I had good results with an in-line with grain bend. Of course cross grain bends are much easier. I soaked the material several times with the softener prior to use and was satisfied with the results.

Need to flatten small pieces of burl wood 1/4" thick. Could I soak it in this and put in my weighted press for a week or so?

This should work but the wood must be kept flat unitl fully dry. Be sure to soak both sides

Does this softener interfere with staining and finishing? Some mixtures leave deposits and block the stain from being absorbed with any uniformity.

I have not used it with stain, but it does not interfere with shelac, Polyurathane, or lacquer.
