Right out of box review
I had an epilator years ago. I do not remember the brand but I remember the pain. I was much younger and had much thicker, coarser leg hairs. I got the device because I was shaving my legs daily for that smooth feel. Well using the machine was so painful that I finally gave up. Now, many years later, my hair is not as dark, thick or coarse and I now have facial hair. It is the facial hair that has prompted this latest purchase. I wanted something that didn’t require daily action. My hope was that new advances would make epilating less painful. The answer is yes! This is much better. Of course this machine does not have to face the same challenges as my first but it is much improved. I let my machine charge over night. My leg hairs were at the height recommended for best results. I went for it and it was fast and did the job, even on the longer above the knee leg hair (you older girls know what I mean). It was not painful but a bit uncomfortable, like a thousand little pin pricks. My skin felt tingly afterwards. Since I was on a roll, I also did my forearms. I really hadn’t bought it with that intention as that hair was pretty white but what the heck. It felt the same as it had on my legs. Now on to the face. The hair here was not as long as it had been on my legs or arms but it did snag some. I pluck chin and neck hairs so this was less painful. I haven’t done my lip yet as I feel that will sting. I am leaving that for another day. All in all I feel that this is a great machine. It didn’t take me long to do my legs, forearms and face. The machine comes with a nice case, attachments and an instruction booklet. It was nice to be able to remove the hair on my legs and not worry about nicks with a razor. I have done electrolysis on my face, plucked and shaved. This epilator is less painful and will not leave stubble. I would recommend buying it.

Great results, in spite of design flaws
I have used Braun epilators for more years than I want to admit. Epilating has always been my go-to hair removing method. Broun epilators are great. I lost count of how many I have purchased. I think it's time to review one. The Braun epilators have never let me down. They last a very long time and they are a good investment. I would normally buy a new one after a couple years, when the blades start getting dull, or when traveling and forgetting mine at home. (I've tried the Phillips twice and came back to Braun every time. ) The Silk Epil 9 Flex delivers. I don't review the accessories, because I don't care much for them. Their shavers are pretty good, but I rarely shave, so can't talk about the shaver head with Flex. The main points: The flexible head makes it slide easier around curves. The longer, thiner, handle is a nice change and definitely easier to hold. I definitely think it's less painful than the prior models. The charge lasts significantly longer then the other Silk Epil 9 I have and that is amazing. The "Whyyyy?" Points: As someone else mentioned, the new power button will inadvertently turn off while you use the epilator. Why? Because it's in the same area where you hold the handle and it's very easy to press against it even if you don't plan on it. @Braun, please give us back the little rotating dial from the prior versions! The rounded design of the Flex head makes it so much harder to clean. Moreso, after a few months of use I notice that my "new" epilator smells. If used in the shower ( which I do 99% of the time), the rounded head will trap water and the wet hair in its deeper crevices and make it so much harder to clean and dry. I spent the time and cleaned it and I keep it outside my drawer in order for it to dry. However, I'm not comfortable keeping this thing out at all time, as I don't have thetime to explain it to my 6 yo. Please change the head design to the prior versions where the Epilator can dry easier!!!

Maybe a Little TOO Flexible
I think I prefer the Braun Epilator 8 that I have as it doesn't have this ultra flexible head. I have a lot of facial hair, like I can grow a beard like a man in a few days facial hair. The epilator works best, despite the pain, at keeping it at bay without all the irritation shaving causes or the 'five o'clock shadow' effect. It does HURT like the dickens! It takes some getting used to, but I have gotten used to it everywhere but my upper lips which I cannot use the epilator on as it causes too much pain. This particular model, has a flexible head, which I thought would be great to get my neck area better, while it is easier to get the neck area, it takes many more swipes of this epilator than my previous one to get the same amount of hairs because of the swivel effect. It was much more effective at getting the hairs with the Epilator 8. Just as easy to clean, but does have a smaller head than the Epilator 8. The other heads and accessories work just as well, the travel 'hold all' bag is a lot nicer than before. The charge seems to last longer as well. P.S. NO, this has not made my hair stop growing or slow down it's growth, but it has made it less noticeable that I have this issue because there is no razor burn or five o'clock shadow issues. Pro Tip: WAY less painful on shorter hairs than on longer ones. It seems the longer the hair is on any part of the body, the more using the epilator hurts me. If the hairs are shorter, YES it does miss some, but it is WAY less painful.

Love this Epilator!
I absolutely LOVE this epilator. I use this epilator monthly ever since I purchased it two years ago in the middle of COVID. It is my go to method for removing underarm hair. I have thick, fast growing, dark hair and use this for my underarms so this product is a god send. Shaving (especially underarms) caused dark shadows and made the hair appear much thicker whether it actually was or not. I had a really bad experience with my last waxing appointment where I was burned and had skin peeled off in the process and found it to be extremely painful and expensive long term so I stopped. Depilatory creams seemed to only keep the hair away for a few days at a time. Lastly, I’ve spent literally thousands on Laser Hair Removal which I never ended up finishing because of the pain factor (I only went to 7 of 10 sessions) and after 5 years hair growth returned to normal. In the past, I’ve used much cheaper dry epilators which were super painful, but effective. Then I heard fantastic things about wet epilators so I thought, why not invest in one and in the worst case scenario I return it? Things I LOVE about this product: Battery life is awesome Great for travel (I take it with me any and every time I travel) Made of high quality materials It’s a wet epilator which makes it SO much less painful than using a dry epilator Cons it is a bit painful at first, but less painful than waxing and laser hair removal (but I’ve got tips below on how to make it less so) Long Term Benefits: Reduced hair growth and thickness Hair grows back much finer and thinner over time Use it less frequently since it reduces hair growth Pro Tip: Use this product in the shower after cleansing and add a thin layer of body wash on the skin before epilating. I pair this with a body wash so it reduces any pain drastically. I usually lather the area with my Cetaphil Flare Up Relief body wash and it makes it significantly less painful and still does a great job. Anyway, I LOVE this product and absolutely recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about buying this product. I know it’s expensive, but I promise it is an investment and will save you tons of money (think razors, depilatory creams, waxing, laser hair removal etc) later on down the road.

Don’t buy this epilator
I wanted to like this epilator. Two popular influencers on Instagram sung its praises. Said it was easy to use, efficient and made their legs smooth and hair free with just a few strokes per leg. And that they could go weeks without using it again. I am very disappointed by the performance. Very disappointed. The first time I did it, I expected pain and it hurt. It took me a few tries to get in a rhythm so that I could finish an entire leg. The first go was moderately successful. To be thorough, I went over each leg several times. I was shocked when I checked my legs the next day to see entire patches of hair still there. I went over these areas SEVERAL times! But, I wanted to give it another try so I have used it several more times since then. The same thing occurs and just recently, I had several ingrown hairs on both legs. I’m shocked after such positive feedback for this epilator. The only positive is that it makes your hair grow back thinner and finer and you don’t have prickly legs like you get from shaving when there hair starts to grow back. It is not easy to clean, the hairs do not come out easily. Do not waste your money on this epilator.

A year later, most of the epilated parts don't need epilating
First: You're already at home; do NOT "go big or go home". If you torture yourself, you may not succeed. If 300 hairs hurt to pull, maybe try 30 for 10 days in a row. Shave. Not kidding. Don't try to rip everything out at once. Rip out what it can reach the day after shaving and the day after that. If the regrowth is heavy? Shave again and repeat. A year later, I don't have to do my legs. My underarms are 10% what they used to be, hair wise. They need to be done 2x a month during low growth seasons, 1x/week during active growth times, and they used to be a daily shave. That's my own personal thought: if I weren't looking from the close distance of my own eyes to my own arm pit, maybe it would be even less often. :) Bikini line is lighter, but still requires weekly maintenance. The funny thing is that you'll look down at your calf and see 1 hair that's obviously been there for a week or three, but you won't have felt it. No stubble, no reminder that you haven't done your legs in months. And you'll just pull it out. I wish I could use it plugged in. But I like the pivoting head. I like the wet/dry option. Like how easy it is to clean. Decent battery life. Just don't go big or go home. You're *already* at home. Rip a little at a time and you'll see an immediate difference. Don't tell Braun, but those little chin hairs I pretend I don't have? Those, too. Faster and easier than plucking Highly recommend!

Great for people who undrstand epilators. the entire pint of the product
I LOVE THIIIIIIISSSS. READ ME! I have had eczema from birth, I was once actually the 2nd worse case in the state during my youth. (2000 - 2005 in Texas.) I have gone from infancy to childhood to teenager to adult, and I was only able to start shaving at 18 yrs. (sometimes for special occasions starting at 14) My Eczema went away right at puberty like all the 90's Dr's said. Only remedies then, like vaseline and baths, allergy testing... Then it hit full force just like when I was a toddler, at 21 yrs old. (It seems my cycle is about 8-10 yrs.) I have wanted a smooth, carefree, steroid/eco/financially friendly option for EVER. I want to wear at least- AT LEAST, a pair of shorts to the pool. The pool with just my family. I'm 125 lbs and I was a serious gymnast as a kid. I cannot stress to you the value that this has for people that need to keep their pores clean from bacteria and ingrown hairs due to skin diseases. Try using it on a small area regularly then expand. If the heads hurt you, maybe drink A glass of wine? that kind of helped me. Treat it like 1/2 the pain of the tiniest tattoo you could get. (Bo-peep could do it over-time.) It actually increases blood flow which will trigger your body to release hormones and chemicals that will later decrease the pain. Your body will let you know, but just in case THERE'S A SAFETY FEATURE for pressure sensitivity. *sigh* please buy. I'm just a consumer. Don't be a sissy. I never knew this option existed... omg I love it. If you have LESS THAN A MEDIUM PAIN TOLERANCE, you need to start somewhere else or be very regimented in applying this technique to your skin. People in these reviews only review out of anger after trying for 5 mins in one area... one person said that it didn't take any hair from her "area" but OMG, I haven't gone swimming in years, and I this thing did what I usually try to do with hair cutting scissors and a new razor before the pool....... without irritation, for weeks. I read the user manual, which explicitly says, even if you can handle the pain, you'll still get redness and irritation. "Do it at night-time before bed!) Just try this product while using the different heads AT THE MANUFACTURER'S ADVICE. Read..... omg. You guys are probably using your Lysol wrong... This thing is amazing. Taking it from someone who almost died 5 times in 10 yrs from skin infections for various reasons.

Expensive, time consuming, mostly ineffective. Decent for bikini line though.
If you have several hours to spare for multiple days in a row this might work for you? I have darker sort of thick hair and I think my hair grows faster than most people. Maybe that’s why this thing didn’t work so well for me. Anyway, I spent 1-2 hours every day for 4 days in a row using this thing on my legs, bikini line, and arm pits. And things still were not completely smooth in the end. Not only is it only about 80% effective, expensive, time consuming. But it’s also pretty painful on certain areas. I made sure to shave everything down a bit first and exfoliate. Doing my arm bits was borderline intolerable and they were stubbly again the next day, so I’m not sure the hairs were even being totally removed. My legs were a little painful, the more annoying part about them is that they never felt smooth. No matter how many times I would go over them, my legs always had that “day after” slight stubbly feel. Doing my bikini line was surprisingly the least painful and it seemed to actually remove the hairs. I was pretty smooth for about a week or so. I would not recommend it for a full Brazilian though. I attempted to go full Brazilian and quickly realized it wouldn’t work and would be too painful. It doesn’t work on softer “loose” skin because it pulls too much. I’m going to keep it because it’s not really something I can return and it does sort of work for tidying my bikini line and doesn’t leave razor burn (just a little temporary redness). It’s too expensive for just that benefit in my opinion though.
