Buy once, cry once.
First, let me say I am NOT a professional shooter. I'm just an average Joe who likes to shoot clays in my backyard. I've tried several different electronic earmuffs and while they work great at protecting my hearing and amplifying ambient sounds, they interfere with getting a good cheek weld on my shotgun. So I decided to try electronic in-ear hearing protectors. The OTTOs looked nice and got good reviews, but the price was a little more than I could justify, so I went with another brand that was heavily marketed on social media. I received them, tried them out, and wasn't very impressed with the sound quality. The wind noise was terrible and, when one of them completely stopped working after only the second use, I returned them. After watching countless YouTube videos and reading every review I could find (all of which said the OTTO ear plugs are worth the price), I bought some. These things are nothing short of AMAZING! The difference between the OTTOs and the cheaper (but still not cheap) brand is night and day. Sound quality is amazing. On the low setting, I feel like I'm not even wearing earplugs. I can communicate normally with those around me, and the sound is totally natural. IMO, there is not even a need for the high setting. It's like having bionic hearing, yet it still works fine in the wind. I shot a couple of hundred clays and when I put them back in the charging case, the digital readout showed they were still at 90% charge. So I'm not at all worried that they won't make it through a day of shooting. I do wish they came with better foam earplugs. The included ones work fine and offer good protection, but the Comply foam plugs are a great upgrade in fit and comfort. It would be nice if those were standard. Not a big deal, though. Just buy the Comply ones when the originals are ready for replacement. All said, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. These things are absolutely a worthwhile investment.

They do what they are intended to do...protect your hearing!
I've been a professional shooter since 1986...military spec ops and both local and federal law enforcement. I now run my own shooting school where I shoot indoors and outdoors. I researched like crazy to find the best in-ear hearing protection and landed on the OTTO Engineering NoizeBarriers. Outdoors is where these shine folks, they will handle everything in that environment you can throw at them. The thing I love the most is I forget they are even in my ears; they are that comfortable! I can wear whatever hat or headgear I want, and nothing gets in the way. Indoor shooting ranges are a mixed bag though. To tell you the truth, I have two pair of high-end hearing pro that professionals wear and they struggle indoors as well at times. I didn't expect these to be able to handle indoor shooting at all, but they did just fine if it was just me and a buddy shooting or if I only had 4 or so students and I could stand about 10' behind them. But, when I had more students I had to push back about 20' or more to even be tolerable noise reduction levels. So I set these to the low amplification, threw on my over the ear muffs on top of these and BAM! Perfecto combination. With them doubled up I had very good amplification and perfect noise reduction. People comment about these not being updated over the years and they don't have some of the "bling" that other in-ear devices have...such as bluetooth connection or multiple levels of amplification. These have 2 levels...low and high. The low should be called "normal" because it amplifies to a normal hearing level and makes it seem like you aren't wearing hearing protection at all. This is where I run this pretty much all the time. High is like the high end of a good pair of hearing protection. A bit too high for me for "normal" shooting on the range; I don't need to hear every pebble move as I walk. I could see the High setting great for hunters sitting in a blind or even home protection when you are barricaded and waiting for law enforcement to arrive....you will hear everything in your home! If you shoot a lot, especially outdoors, these are an amazing investment in a quality in-ear hearing pro. The build quality, reliability, and track record of these stand out ahead of all the rest on the market for a reason....they didn't change what works for a trade-off for bling you don't need when shooting.

Awesome hearing protection
I shoot a LOT and over the years have tried all kinds of protection. Electronic ear muffs, electronic in the ear noise blue tooth capable- recargeable hearing protection and plain old semi soft ear plugs that live on a plastic ring that fits around my neck. They all have issues. These do not. When I bought this set I ordered a couple of sizes of the black foam moldable pieces that slip onto the tube that goes in the ear. Did not like them because my ears were sore by the end of the day, save your money. I finally woke up and used the flange type that come with these and loved them. They are comfortable and easy to use. I put these in at 8am and take them out at 8pm after a full day of shooting chucks. Besides providing solid noise cancellation they have two levels of sound amplification so that I can hear my hunting partners talk or chucks chirping in the rocks. They recharge overnight when placed back into the carrying case and that case is capable of 20 recharges. I called the company, in Indiana if I recall, to ask about the batteries if they should fail. They don't warranty those but urged me to contact them and send them in. I had the feeling that there was a wink at the other end that assured me they would fix them. These are a bit pricey but as they say, buy once - cry once.

Compact, Convenient, Effective, highly recommended, price point isnt for everyone
Considering the work i do, as a Firearms Instructor, Weapons and Tactics Instructor, Close Protection Agent and combat veteran, i have had my hearing damaged in everywhere and was looking for a compact hearing protection that can stand up to the rigors of my work, while preserving the hearing i still have I think this is it for me. since i bought this product, i would have to knit pick the details to have something worth mentioning in terms of criticisms. but this product is a damn good one. i can use this product all day, indoor/outdoor and still have enough to keep going past that. its small compact and comfortable. i have even used one side in conjunction with my earpiece that connects to my radio for team comms. the only down side is their choice of ear pieces that came with the product, so i ended up buying aftermarket ear pieces based on the recommendation of my mentor, that comes in three different sizes. i dont have any ear fatigue at the end of the day, and its almost like having bionic hearing, the only other thing i can pick at is that it only has two modes, something in between would have been nice. its hard to tell if the bionic setting is loud in my ears to make it worse or am i just hearing better. tactical hearing aids, can hear conversation just find indoors and outdoors, almost feels like i am eavesdropping on everyone around me. anyways great product, only four stars for me because of the earpieces that came with it, and having to but another product, that are excellent. i highly recommend this product,

If you wear earpro often, you owe it to yourself to buy some nice ones.
In-ear electronic earpro is the future of noise protection, and if you have not gone to something like this, you should. First, safety. I don't care if you are running tools on a jobsite or plinking cans with your friends, being able to hear your surroundings and communicate clearly at all times enhances your safety, period, end of story. No getting blasted with loud noise accidentally when you pull your earpro to understand what someone else is saying. That's worth $500 right there, all day. Second, comfort. Been wearing mits to the range in July? You need a pair of these. No more sweaty ears. You don't need to set your rifle up around your shooting mitts anymore. Those two reasons should be enough, but beyond this the hearing amplification on the Noizebarriers is incredible. Sit still in the woods and listen - If there is game moving, you will hear it. However, goodness gracious don't ever chew food with them in on high amplification, you might never want to eat a granola bar again if you do. Battery lasts hours, and the battery in the charging case lasts multiple days of constant use. Zero complaints with my set, been using them all summer/fall, no problems, good retention, excellent hearing protection.

Work VERY well, worth any amount of money to protect your ears
These BLOW the 3Ms (similar ones) out of the water. Ive used them for a year now, wow, I forget they are in most of the time. Loud environments, dont bother me. Yes they are expensive, but know and why I bought them; you will NEVER get your hearing back if you severely damage them. Therefore, that is worth any price for me when I grow older and want to hear my family. Worth the money, and even after taking testings on my ears every year, my Hearing HAS NOT degraded in any capacity due to me always having these in when I work around loud equipment.

Defective out of the box
I was looking forward to this purchase based on the recommendation of friends who own the Otto micro. I did my research and looked at reviews and decided what’s left of my hearing is worth the investment. I shoot regularly and over the ear protection is fatiguing and uncomfortable at matches and practice sessions. I wanted something that would allow me to wear a hat for sun protection and wanted a tool not a toy. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed when they arrived. One worked but the other one was chirping and getting feedback that could be heard by those around me. I followed the instructions and troubleshooting but the issue persists. I turned them off and made sure they were completely charged but once again one worked and the other sounds like a canary. For $500 this is completely unacceptable. In doing a deeper dive I found others had the same issue. To add insult to injury even though I purchased through Amazon I had to pay to have them sent back for a refund as they came from optics plant amazon department. I know this is just a sample of one but for the price this is unacceptable. My friends have had no issues that is why I went through with the purchase only to be disappointed. Hope you do not have the same issue as I did if you purchase this product.

Excellent Product
I purchased this product in February and have submitted 5 star reviews three different times but Amazon won’t post them for some reason. I keep editing my review, taking out information that I think they will find objectionable so I hope this one will be submitted. Usually I only write reviews when I’m pissed off with the performance of a product, but this has been such a good experience I thought I should share it. I’ve only had it for two weeks so this review maybe premature. If things change, I’ll update my review. I’m a fairly avid action shooter, shooting 2-3 matches a week. I used those for over a year and had issues with the noise protection, them staying in my ears as well as hearing people talk. I’m 61 years old and can’t afford to have any more hearing loss so I was looking for a more effective electronic earbud without spending $1,000 for the custom units offered by the hearing aid companies. Since the NoizeBarrier Micro is still a significant investment I did a little more research. So far, I’m very happy with this product. I like the way they fit going all the way in the ear. Reading about the NoizeBarrier Micro I had concerns about the electronics because there were only two settings. So far, I have only used the lower setting and I can hear fine. The noise protection is far superior to other similar ear buds particularly shooting rifle. I must say I do like the battery charging arrangement. Got these toward the end of last week and immediately charged up the box. Saturday, I shot a 3-Gun match that started at 9 and ended at 4. When I put the ear buds in the box the batteries were at 50%. The following Wednesday, I shot a pistol match from 5-9 and the batteries were at 80%. Thursday, I shot a shotgun match from 6:30-8 and the batteries were at 90%. The case battery is still at 90% and has not been recharged. The product appears to be well made with good materials. The box is designed well and doesn’t take up a lot of space in my range bag. So far, I would recommend this product.
