Trying TRQ CV Axles on a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek
I purchased these TRQ Front CV Axles for future backup emergency use only. I purchased a much more expensive set of Heavy Duty CV Axles but not OEM and went to install them and they were 6 inches longer than the current OEM CV Axles. So those HD CV Axles were out. Ideally, everybody says to use only OEM . In this case performing the repair CV Axle based on reviews and other Mechanics opinions is to only use OEM CV Axles only. I wanted to try non OEM first. As the back up I installed these TRQ CV Axles on a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. The TRQ CV Axles cosmetically looked very good. The length was good and all the pieces Matched the OEM CV Axles. The install went well . The test drive was very smooth with experiencing no vibration at any speed accelerating. Turning there was no clicking noise. During the Test Drive it became apparent that some of the acceleration noises and performance issues were on the 2015 Subaru Crosstrek CV Axle were related to the current OEM installed CV Axles since manufacture. I have only good things to say about these TRQ CV Axles on install . No reported symptoms going up to speed. Saying that letโs see how longevity matches the 180,000 mile OEM set I took off. I am hopeful that there are no issues with torn boots, degrading performance , lack of grease, early clicking on turns. I am hopeful to get another 100,000 miles out of these TRQ CV Axles . Letโs see how far we get and will update this review with any issues. If there are any early signs of Failure I will follow the experts advice and Revert to OEM Subaru CV Axles knowing the OUCH high prices for OEM Subaru CV Axles.

Beware!!!!
I am writing this review to strongly caution potential buyers regarding the TRQ Front Driver and Passenger Side CV Axle Assembly Set installed on a 2016 Nissan Maxima Platinum. I purchased this set in September and had it professionally installed shortly thereafter, expecting standard durability and reliable performance consistent with OEM-equivalent components. Unfortunately, these axles failed in less than six months, with noticeable issues beginning slightly before complete failure in March. Early warning signs included persistent clicking, popping, and abnormal drivetrain noise during acceleration, turning, and from a complete stop, all of which progressively worsened over time. Ultimately, the axles became unreliable to the point where they appeared to lose proper seating within the transmission interface, raising serious concerns about both fitment integrity and overall safety. This is not normal wear and tear, but rather premature mechanical failure of a critical drivetrain component. In addition to the defective parts themselves, I incurred approximately $400 in labor costs for the initial installation, and now face repeating that entire expense for removal and replacement. Furthermore, replacing CV axles on a Nissan Maxima results in transmission fluid loss, requiring an additional fluid service, which adds further cost and inconvenience to an already frustrating situation. What is particularly concerning is that this product is labeled as โAmazonโs Choice,โ which may give buyers a false sense of reliability and quality assurance. Based on my experience, these axles do not meet acceptable standards for durability, fitment stability, or long-term performance. Buyers should understand that attempting to save money on lower-cost aftermarket components can quickly result in significantly higher expenses, repeated labor, and potential safety risks. I strongly advise against purchasing this product and recommend investing in higher-quality OEM or reputable aftermarket alternatives to avoid premature failure, unnecessary costs, and the serious hazard of drivetrain component failure while operating the vehicle. Most importantly, failures like this do not just impact your vehicleโthey directly affect the safety of your family, your friends, and everyone else sharing the road with you, making this a risk that should not be taken lightly.

Good Product, Bad Packaging
These TRQ CV axles (left and right side is TRQ #CSA82127, set of 2 is TRQ #CSA82453) were fairly easy to install on my 1998 Ford Expedition 5.2 Eddie Bauer (only had to remove the sway bar links to free-up enough space to remove/ install). They fit properly and seem to drive fine - we'll see how long they last. My only issue was that TRQ sent a defective axle that had been manufactured incorrectly, the inner grease end cap had come off during shipping and grease leaked out, thankfully mostly contained within the plastic shipping bag. TRQ needs to do a much better job of packaging and protecting these in the shipping box. Thankfully, Amazon refunded it, I had to buy another single axle.
