Fine. As expected.
Works both for the game and as a standalone input for AISO4. Expect latency unless audio is configured through a processor.

Works perfectly
I bought the Rocksmith+ Real Tone Cable because the original cable that came with the game started giving me a slight “feedback” sensation — almost like a small electrical tickle — whenever I touched the guitar strings. I assumed the cable was faulty, so I purchased this replacement. Important note: I experienced the exact same sensation with this new cable… which led me to investigate further. It turns out the problem wasn’t the cable at all — it was due to poor grounding in the house caused by the extremely dry climate, which resulted in static buildup and a lack of proper earthing. Once that was resolved, the issue disappeared completely. With proper grounding, the Real Tone Cable works flawlessly. Zero lag, clean signal, instantly recognised by Rocksmith, and solid build quality. It’s exactly what you expect from the official cable. Sturdy connectors, durable cable, and reliable performance. It feels like it will last years with normal use. If you’re experiencing any strange electrical sensations, don’t assume the cable is the problem — check your grounding. The cable itself is excellent and does exactly what it’s supposed to.

Great Cable
I’m using this cable to hook up my electric guitar to my PC. It seems to be a good quality, somewhat thick cable with a foot long breakout piece at the computer end. So if you yank on the cable, it will separate without damaging your computer. In Windows, the cable shows up as a microphone with some basic settings such as volume and records at 16bit up to up to 48,000hz (DVD quality). Which is very nice. It works flawlessly with Rocksmith. On a decent gaming PC there is almost no latency if you’re playing from your soundcard. I have wireless USB headphones which caused a problem. I don’t think you want to run any extra USB audio devices alongside the cable as you get some distracting stutter in game. That was the case with my corsair wireless setup. One of the best things about this cable is that it has so many other uses. Not just Rocksmith. It also works flawlessly with Yousician which is a guitar course that has more focused and less game like guitar lessons in a similar vein and complements rocksmith well. The cable also allows you to use ASIO4ALL drivers to create an excellent realtime interface with various guitar Amp and effects modeling simulation software. It’s compatible with everything I tried including Amplitube, Guitar Rig, and VST plugins like PositiveGrid Bias, Vintage Amp Room, and Recabinet. You can also use it record with any free music software such as Audacity and Reaper or commercial sequencer DAW’s like Steinberg Cubase and FL Studio. So overall the Real Tone Cable offers incredible value. It’s one of the best purchases I have made for my guitar and it opens up a whole world of musical opportunities on the computer at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend both the real tone cable and the Rocksmith 2014 game which requires the cable to work.

Need this for Rocksmith
I've been using it for several months with Rocksmith. It's pretty much required if you want to get the most out the game, particularly if you are using an electric guitar. The other option is to use a microphone and as I understand it, the microphone option is primarily intended for acoustic guitars. At any rate a microphone didn't work well for me so the cable became a necessity. Only with the cable can you take advantage of all the features of Rocksmith. One nice thing about this cable that you might not find in other USB instrument cables is that it has a quick disconnect at the USB computer so if you tug the cable taut instead of damaging your connector, the cable just comes apart at the quick disconnect. It's a good safety feature. The cable is well made although lighter than your typical guitar cable. The 1/4" plug seems to be good quality so even if you don't have Rocksmith it's still a good choice for a USB instrument cable. No regrets about buying the cable although it was somewhat pricey. I use the cable on a Windows computer and the cable works fine with other software besides Rocksmith such as my webcam media program, Guitar Rig 3, and Audacity. It is a bit frustrating that the cable is necessary. My amp has a USB output that I was hoping to use with Rocksmith, but Rocksmith won't accept input from it. I've read that some people split the guitar signal (with a Y cord?) so that they can send the output to both an amp and to Rocksmith at the same time. That seems like a good idea, but not having tried it I can't personally vouch for it.

Works on the newer version but seems to have issues on the 2014 version.
Works well and is cool for virtual amps too. But mine only worked on the new version and could not connect to the 2014 edition

Great and Affordable!
I purchased this about six months ago (at the time of review) and have been using it occasionally since then. It is a great solution to connect your guitar to your PC for Rocksmith. You do not need an audio interface if you are shopping for a cable just for this game. Cable length is long enough and I don't have problem playing guitar on a chair or while standing. If you have any issue, please make sure Rocksmith cable is selected as an input device (Settings/Sound -> Input Devices) and the input volume is high enough (when you connect it first time it will be low and game does not detect any sound). I recommend this official cable.

Cable works, but you need MicLockTray to keep the microphone vol up for the game to work in Win11
The cable works, but I had to download a program off of GitHub to stabilize the volume of this, which converts the guitar into a microphone. Windows 11 tends to try to lower the microphone volume down, for some reason, to seventeen percent and then rocksmith does not detect the guitar anymore it was like I was constantly fighting windows to get it to function taking me hours to start the program. According to MS support, you download use MicLockTray from github to fix the bug from the OS

For Rocksmith (+) (2014) on Consoles, Ubisoft's cable is a must...
If you want to play Rocksmith 2014 Remastered Edition on Consoles, the Real Tone Cable is a must. *To be clear, to connect a guitar to your PC, even for Rocksmith 2014 Ed. or Rocksmith+ Beta...(?), this Real Tone cable is NOT a must as far as I understand it, & without Rocksmith...just a connection to your PC...DO NOT use this cable. It's terrible! Do your research first, but I'm sure you can find higher quality for less money. For those like me with Rocksmith 2014 Remastered Ed. on Xbox Series x|s, Xbox One, &/or PS4, Ubisoft gives you the option of a Microphone Input OR their Proprietary Real Tone Cable 6.35mm to USB Input. To minimize lag, this cable is the best option as far as price is concerned. The cable is not without issues; this is the 2nd Real Tone Cable I've owned; but as long as Ubisoft keeps their software closed to 3rd party cables for consoles & if you want to have the best possible experience with Rocksmith, you're stuck with the Real Tone Cable. The cable does have lag - but the game has built-in calibration to adjust for the time delay (how much seems to vary; mine adjust to 25ms). The cable is not high quality & for both cables I've had, they eventually become quieter over time to skipping in & out. Fortunately, this problem is easily fixed for ~$5 & some basic soldering skill. Indeed; the defect rate based on the number of general complaints I've read about the cable, I'd suggest getting a basic replacement jack for plugging into your guitar, & possibly some Kapton tape (& a soldering iron & solder & wire strippers potentially). For instance, I purchased this cable in 2017 & I've had to repair it twice. Indeed, I just repaired it my second time here in the last 2 days. For a $40 cable you have to use, I suppose repairability is it's one upside. But, I also can't speak to the repairability of the in-line "analog-digital converter." What its defect rate is like?—I have no clue? So, Why 3-stars for the cable? Because when it works, it completes the Rocksmith experience. And that is something that is truly great. After owning my guitar for ~14 yrs., I gave Rocksmith another try in 2020 (I had some down time, like many others...), & it has actually made me a fairly proficient player since. Maybe moreso than that...? I play my guitar daily...now usually with a small amp instead, but still with my Xbox Series S every so often as well. The software works & when the hardware works with it, Ubisoft still has a cable I'm willing to tolerate because Rocksmith altogether is worth it in my opinion. *Note — Photos are of my most recent repair of the cable.

Good buy
Was sceptical at first when ordering one but functions fine in-game and even registers as a input I can use on Discord and the windows voice recorder so I was amazed at its use outside of the game
